The Broncos completed a deal today for veteran defensive end Vonnie Holliday.

The 6-foot-5, 288-pound Holliday was a solid defensive tackle/end for the Green Bay Packers from 1998-2002 before moving on to Kansas City and the Miami Dolphins. He will be expected to play both the 5-technique defensive end and nose tackle positions in the Broncos' 3-4 defensive alignment.

"He's versatile so he can play wherever the team decides to play him," said Holliday's agent Cary Fabrikant. "He's an extremely talented football player who's been a starter for long periods of time. He's familar with the defense."

Holliday, 33, had worked out for the Broncos during the free-agent period in March. He recently became a priority with newly acquired DE Le Kevin Smith suffering a knee injury.

Although Holliday did not go to training camp with any team this summer, Fabrikant says his client is in top physical condition through spinning, yoga and pilates.

I have a few friends that play in MLB that do them. It's pretty normal in the sports world.

Great Signing... I'm still a little confused why he was on the street this long but good signing none the less.

now the question is, how long until he is in "Football Shape"

I don't know man... I think it takes more Dynamic stretching to instill the proper "toughness"... but here's to hoping for the best.

I like it, just have to question why he waited so long, and why seemingly there wasn't more competition for his services.

reading between the lines it seems to me like they had some sort of handshake deal....he likes this system the best of his other options and the Broncos were ok with him missing camp.

It sure seems like it. This guy was an impact player on a successful 3-4 D last year. With all the teams transitioning to the 3-4 (Queefs, Packers, maybe others), you would think this guy would have been scooped up by now.

Then again, if I was a ten year vet, the prospect of skipping camp would be mighty tempting.

He can buy come chodisol - the cream for an irritated chode... also chodercizing works pretty well, too. Just stand like you've been riding a horse for a week, and sway your hips back and fourth.

He didnt just say that, did he? I dont see jumping jacks and mind reading anywhere in that sentence.

have you ever attempted to do any of the above? not to agree that holliday is in top physical form, but it's nothing but ignorance to think that the above work out routines aren't benefical...

I understand exactly where you are coming from but Holiday isn't like alot of the scrubs you see out there that are getting older. He actually is a smart football player and will be a solid rotation guy. Since he knows this defense very well, he'll help to develop the younger guys, giving them little stuff here and there from a players perspective.

You know, that'd be sweet if we were already set with playmakers on the DL and just needed some guys for the rotation.

Unfortunately, for those of us grounded in reality, this is just another ho-hum signing.

just 33 only applies in the real world, not in the nfl.

vonnie holliday isn't going to fix or even be a temporary solution to the horror that is the denver bronco defensive line.

55 career sacks....5, 7, 2, and 3.5 the last 4 years with 51, 66, 42, and 46 tackles the last 4 years while at Miami.

We could use that kind of production at the 3-4 DE position.

Holliday won't be a disruptive force....but he will be productive.

You'd be amazed at how many pro hockey players did figure skating when they were little.
