CU defense- 10 points allowed
CU special teams- 14 points allowed
Cody Talkins- 7 points allowed

CU's defense didn't deserved this, great performance today so far.

Cody finally benched, if they don't plan to make a permanent move to Hansen I'm actually not in favor of it. TH needs the game experience, if Coach Talk is only doing this because Cody lost this game today and is planning to go back to him next week, then it's a terrible move.

Cody Hawkins is the worst college QB I've ever seen.

The shocking thing was that Earl Thomas was so ready to intercept that pass and take it to the house that he had to wait two seconds for Hawkins' throw to get to him. Had he been playing at full speed, he would have overrun the play.

Man, Colorado was given so many opportunities to win that game against Texas and they just came out as a JV high school squad in the 2nd half.
Add in the fact that Cody Hawkins has the worst arm of a QB I have seen...that pick 6 interception was just beyond bad. One of the worst throws I have seen a QB make all time.

On to OU, Bradford actually performed well for a guy who hadn't played in a month. He made a lot of throws where the WR just dropped the balls, without Broyles and Gresham they are really struggling finding consistency throwing the ball. With how Texas is playing this year, they could be in the game, but they need to get touchdowns in the redzone, not settle for field goals.

Texas pulls out a blood bath. I've been saying for a few weeks that Texas doesn't need style points this year, they just need to win out. They still have to get by Missouri, Oklahoma St. and Kansas, not to mention A&M on Thanksgiving, so it is a long way yet but getting past Oklahoma is the biggest hurdle - best three-loss team in the country.

Arkansas is hanging tough with Florida so far. Texas Tech now up on Nebraska, 21-0.

Really? Explain the second half?

CU scored 14 points on gifts from KU for a total of 3 yards. They haven't exactly light the board up. Once KU got heated up though CU hasn't been able to stop them effectively. KU has scored on every single possession in the second half.

Be thankful KU fumbled the ball and you got that early lead and they started pressing because the Bison would be getting blown out otherwise.

Seriously, who are these announcers and how do they still have jobs? The only thing worse than the constant timeout talk was the speculating KU might go for 2 when it was 27-20 CU in the 3rd so they could take the lead.

He needs reps, and he needs them in pressure situations. Cody is daddy's security blanket, even though he's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can't play at this level. So, I'm sitting here watching the Ohio State-Minnesota game, with the Buckeyes leading the Gophers 7-0 in the second quarter.

As ESPN comes back from one of their myriad commercial breaks, they did a promo for tomorrow's NASCAR race by showing the top five drivers in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. What ensues is... well... I don't know.

You be the judge:

"Where's Juan Pablo Montoya?" asks Chris Spielman incredulously about the Colombian-born driver who is just out of the top five in the standings.

"He's out having a taco," Bob Griese answered.

(Cringe...)

Based on the current climate of our politically correct society, I'm assuming -- right or wrong -- this isn't the last we've heard of this.

Talkins said he's undecided on who will start next weekend. You might see the fans rush the field at the start of the game and take out Talkins.

It's unfair for his dad to put Cody in that situation too, if he takes the field next Saturday as the starter, the boos are going to rain down and they'll be directed more at Coach Talk than at Cody.

There's still 10k unsold tickets for next weekend, I wonder how many no shows out of already sold tickets there are going to be if #7 is named the starter during the week? This is going from worse to terrible. The only positive is that it might force Bohn to make a move.

I dont think Shannon is the guy to take them to that next level. He's done a good job cleaning the swamp but I really question whether that next level ist there for him...kind of like Dungy in Tampa Bay. Maybe if he gets a good QB, that will change but, it just seems like they take too many steps back after appearing to move forward. And thats been going on for a while.

He's a very good recruiter, but not much of an actual coach, especially on gameday. Right now, the Hurricanes are in 1999. They've got some good starting talent, but they don't have the depth yet to overcome injuries and the talent isn't across the board at every position. When they lost Forston and Moncur, it killed the DL. Allen Bailey is the truth, but he can't do everything by himself. Olivier Vernon will be a great player, but he's inconsistent right now as a true freshman. They've lost some bodies at LB and the backups haven't been able to compensate, either. Cookie Buchanon and Arthur Brown need to step up and grab a starting spot. It's just a matter of developing quality depth...the depth is still too young. About 50 of the 80 guys on the roster are freshmen or sophomores, so when they get hit with injuries, its going to hurt bad. Like I said, we're in 1999 right now. We're probably a 9-3/8-4 team. We still need Shannon to complete the recruiting comeback....we're almost there. But I agree with you that once he's got another top class in, he needs to go, because they need someone who can really coach. Whipple is a very good OC, but we need a great HC, too....not someone who is always playing the 4-3 Stack and is always playing 2 deep with man underneath. We are so predictable on defense.

How great is Shannon at recruiting considering the fact that he's coaching one of the Florida schools? The problem is that theyre still losing to teams like Wake Forest. This should not be happening at this point. A competent coach should be able to beat teams like Wake Forest with the talent they have even in the worst case scenario.

It obviously helps to be coaching at a Florida school, but he is a pretty good recruiter in his own right. The problem was that by the end of the Coker regime, there was nothing left in the cupboard, so it has taken time to replenish the talent and now he needs to replenish the depth. I definitely agree with you that as a head coach he is often times incompetent, which has a tendency to drag the team down. In many ways, he's very much like Ron Zook.

Not even close. The Canes with a nice comeback win....although we're still extremely flawed.

Looking forward to USC versus Oregon in a bit.

I think the Ducks will win.

The problem is that the ACC isnt exactly the same as being in the SEC. There really arent many opponents Miami will face in the ACC that have better talent than Miami even at their worst. The dearth of talent hurts them against the more elite teams but most of their ACC games have been winnable...at least where talent is concerned. If they get a coach who stops losing winnable game, the recruting should fall into place.

U$C getting assraped makes me feel better about the Wild stealing a win from the Penguins.

SoCal's Top 10

1. Florida- They haven't been dominant this season, especially in the red zone, but there appears to be no "great" team in 2009. A little bit of the Florida of old showed up vs. Georgia. Still need to clean up pass protection issues.
2. Texas- Like the Gators, they have been sluggish at times (COL), but lately, they are firing on all cylinders. It appears that they have the easiest path to the BCSCG after trashing Oklahoma State.
3. Alabama- This team kind of reminds me of the 1992 Crimson Tide...stifling defense but just a workmanlike offense. They'll have to manufacture alot more points to win it all.
4. Boise State- That win vs. Oregon looks even more impressive now...and the game was not as close as the 19-8 score indicated. There might not be anyone in the country better at squeezing top end offensive production out of slightly above average talent than Chris Petersen.
5. Oregon- Monster win vs. USC. They're playing better than anyone else the last month, they are the top 1 loss team. Can't put them ahead of Boise for obvious reasons.
6. Cincinnati- Brian Kelly has put together a fabulous, well balanced team, even with some injuries at the QB position. He'll parlay his Big East title and BCS Bowl appearance into a job at a high profile school next year (Notre Dame?).
7. TCU- I think they are a cut below fellow mid major wunderkids Boise and Cincy, but they are still pretty good.
8. Georgia Tech- Outside of getting smashed by Miami (after Jonathon Dwyer got hurt), Paul Johnson's flexbone offense has been devastating opponents. If he plays his cards right in recruiting, Johnson might...just might...be able to turn this team into a modern version of the 1980s-1990s Nebraska Cornhuskers (assuming they can get some kids who can play some defense).
9. LSU- Les Miles defense is for real, but can they win at Alabama? If they can, they'll have another shot to take down the Gators, this time in the SECCG.
10. Iowa- They are undefeated, but I'm not impressed. They're winning games on miracles and having to come back against mediocre teams. They're definitely a top 10 team just for being clutch, but not much else. I suspect they're going to get beatdown at the Horseshoe, even though Ohio State is nothing special.

Oregon butt throttled USC without lube tonight.

613 yards of offense....392 of those rushing.

Pete Carroll looked like he just caught a whiff of fresh baby **** all night on the sideline.

Tim Tebow broke Herschel Walker's SEC record for rushing touchdowns today....with the 50th rushing TD of his career.

Tebow has to go down as one of the all-time best QBs in college football history....77 passing TDs and 51 rushing TDs so far.

Besides Notre Dame, what are some of the other potential openings? I thought Michigan should have pursued Kelly instead of Rodriguez. Another coach you have to wonder about is Patterson from TCU. Its hard to imagine some team not pursuing him.
