"When you're playing this game, when you're competitive like that, I don't care what you're doing -- you could be playing marbles -- you want to win" – Nic Clemons

"I just tell guys we've got to step it up, and whatever they put in, put in just a little bit more and work harder"–Elvis Dumervil

"We're not going out there thinking that this is a preseason game and wins and losses don't matter, because that type of approach is really not what this team is about, We've worked too hard for that type of outcome."" –Josh Barrett

"As a starting quarterback -- I mean, it actually sounds crazy to say starting quarterback now -- but I'm starting on Thursday,There's a lot of work that needs to be put in to be the guy. While the other guys are not here, I'm going to act like I'm the starter. I'm not going to look back until someone tells me I'm not playing anymore." -Tom Brandstater

Let's go TOM B!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I saw a couple hands go up, so I was fired up," Brandstater laughed. "I thought it was a touchdown. I had Coach in the headset saying, 'Get back in the huddle!' I was saying, 'Are we going for two?' because I didn't know what was happening."
Luckily he got back to the huddle in time to run the next play, which ended up being a run for a loss of a yard. On the next play, however, Peyton Hillis (http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=498&contentID=8667) plunged into the end zone for the score.
Regardless, Brandstater said the 16-yard bullet to Lloyd was the "ice-breaker" for him, and he was able to loosen up, play his game and enjoy the experience.
The night wasn't perfect -- he threw an interception and was part of a botched handoff with Darius Walker (http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=498&contentID=9930) that gave Chicago the ball -- but he was still thrilled with the opportunity.
"It was just fun to get out there and to play some meaningful snaps," he said. "I think it will sink in tonight."

I don't ever remember it.....ever. Maybe in the late 60's (going winless in preseason)?

I know In the 1960 season (our first season) we went 0-5 Preseason

That's correct and it is also the only preseason in history we've not won a game...

dude you drove all the way to downtown long beach to see my band!!! You're a madman!!! My own friends whine we play there because parking is a bitch. And they live nearby lol.

You're just a diehard Broncos fan, and blues fan bro!!!

I'm pumped as well because the bkups are the players you hope somehow get better and add to the team. Seeing some of them make plays would be great.

Even still I bet we get to see a lot of Alphonso Smith, the bkup WR fighting for positions like Loyd and Jackson etc.

We will get to see a lot of Quinn at tackle and Olson probably out there at guard even though he may be starting opening day.

He played really well against Seattle too. He had a tackle for a loss that almost caused a fumble, jammed up a running play by playing his blocker, and broke up a screen pass with his length in one series. It was later in the game and most people probably didnt care by that time because the game was so ugly but he looked good.

To McDaniel's credit, he's letting B'stater get a lot of reps, which might suggest he's nowhere near letting B'stater play when its live bullets. But one of the things I like is that this gives him a chance to establish a rapport with a lot of the WRs, kind of like what happened when Cutler and Marshall got in at the ground floor together. But its also the other WRs that Brandstater gets to work with tonight. Its great experience to play so much.

McDaniels needed this in the worst way given everything that has happened.

I agree. The injuries to Orton and Simms are a blessing in disguise, to Brandstater anyway. All these reps will only help him in the long run.

Hard to say. He was supposedly doing pretty good in camp and saw significant playing time in the other preseason games.

Well, I wish the best for him, but it's not good that he really hasn't moved up the depth chart at all, and here he is with the scrubs. So I don't know.

Moss has been playing with the 2nd team all preseason. There is still a chance he gets cut, but I wouldn't really bet on it at this point.

Don't think it really matters yet. They were both drafted to play special teams while we groom them behind Dawkins and Hill.

What is real encouraging for this defense is that the strength of the Cards team is their offense.
