View Full Version : Dawkins: the matter will be handled internally

Safety Brian Dawkins said the matter will be handled internally, and didn't believe Marshall would have a hard time being welcomed back to the team.

"I don't think so," Dawkins said. "Things will be worked out the way they need to be worked out in time."

This isn't Dawkins' first time around a suspended wide receiver. He was in Philadelphia in 2005 when Terrell Owens was suspended after being a year-long spectacle.

He also said the players would deal with him face to face not through the media. Smart man!

For some reason I picture the soap-n-towel scene from 'Full Metal Jacket.'

Marshall probably pictures himself as the oppressed boot camp outcast.

Can we get Brian to be our starting safety, owner, HC and GM?

He gets why you don't play it out in the media.

The biggest problem over the last three or four years has been lack of leadership that will straighten people out. Back in the late 90's, you would have any number of guys running on some fool acting like this. Take your pick... Elway, Griffith, TD, Sharpe, Rod, Zimm, Stink, Tony Jones, Alfred Williams, Neil Smith, Romo, Atwater, Ray Crockett... on and on.

The fact that we don't have any guy willing to confront this jackass and throw him off the field speaks volumes of how weak the leadership is in Dove Valley. You have to have leadership from the coaches and then you have to have a bit of the player policing themselves.

Unfortunately most players on this team are too young be leaders, have never actually been around or seen a leader, or to be frank, are just pussified and afraid of confrontation.

I sort of hold Graham, DJ Williams, and Dawkins responsible for this. Some vet needs to man up and get in Brandon's grill next time.

Yeah, good point. When I (finally!) got to watch the video and saw him ****ing off while the other guys were running sideways that's the first thought that popped into my head. Somebody should have just plowed into him, "Oh sorry, asshole. I was trying to do the drill here."

I love that our new defensive leader is doing his best Nate Jackson impression.

Maybe we should sign Al Wilson as an enforcer, just like they have in hockey.

He is medically unable to contribute for us on the field, but he can contribute indirectly by putting p*&&!es like Marshall on their ass....

So is that why you quoted it and reposted it so that we could all see it again and really make sure it is inappropriate?

Very true, great point. Him swatting away balls should have been enough for some player to get on him, but this team, as you point out, has lacked leaders willing to do things like that. Al Wilson was probably the last guy they had who would.

John Lynch too. No way he would have tolerated this. I am surprised Dawkins did. Maybe because he is new to the team.....

You don't grab someone by the facemask or "plow" into him and tell him to stop acting like a bitch in the middle of practice. You don't want any more of a distraction than it already is. You wait till after practice and the Captains of the team pull him to the side and have a good talk with him about how he's letting the rest of the team down by acting like a child etc.
