With the college football season kicking off in less than two weeks, here are the biggest games during the first week of the season.
Thursday, September 3
South Carolina at North Carolina State
The Gamecocks will have their hands full with Wolfpack QB Russell Wilson.
Oregon at Boise State
It should be an entertaining shootout between two high octane offenses.
Saturday, September 5
Navy at Ohio State
Buckeyes should cruise to a win, but never underestimate a well run triple option offense. They test the discipline of even the best defenses.
Baylor at Wake Forest
Art Briles' Baylor Bears are a team on the rise with Robert Griffin III behind center.
Georgia at Oklahoma State
A classic meeting between a physical SEC team and a high powered finesse offense.
Illinois vs. Missouri (St. Louis)
Both meetings in 2007 and 2008 were high scoring thrillers.
Nevada at Notre Dame
Upset alert!!! Nevada's QB Colin Kaepernick can make plays on the run. Notre Dame looks stout on paper, but should not take the Wolfpack lightly.
BYU vs. Oklahoma (Arlington, Texas)
Oklahoma has their hands full with a top 25 team with 8 returning defensive starters and a Heisman hopeful at QB.
Alabama vs. Virginia Tech (Atlanta)
One of these top 10 teams will have a blemish on their record. This should be a hard hitting, defensive oriented slugfest.
Maryland at California
California's explosive offensive led by Jahvid Best takes on a Terps team that is always well coached by Ralph Friedgen.
LSU at Washington
Tough draw in Steve Sarkisian's first game.
Sunday, September 6
Ole Miss at Memphis
Not a cakewalk game for a highly touted Rebels squad.
Colorado State at Colorado
Hawkins needs a win in the worst way. Fairchild led the Rams to their best season in five years.
Monday, September 7
Cincinnati at Rutgers
Huge Big East showdown right off the bat.
Miami at Florida State
Miami RB Graig Cooper may not play.
