If the defense gives up 30 points and the offense puts up 40 points do we still lose?
Tell me a good defense that your OFFENCE has put up that many points.

Since you won't answer, I see two questions that I think you're asking.
1. What good defense have the Chiefs put 40 on? It really depends on what you call a good defense. We hung 38 on Buffalo, which is ranked #2 in yards allowed and #3 in scoring. The Chiefs put 40 on Pittsburgh, Houston, Green Bay, Cleveland and Detroit. I would consider Pit, G.B. and Clev. pretty good defenses.
2. When did Priest go down? You should know when Priest got injured, it was against Denver with two games remaining. The Chiefs were 8-7 going into their final game and mathematically still contending, just like the Broncos.

Ah, thats the question I was looking for. Now, subtract the points you scored on SPECIAL TEAMS AND DEFENSE! And I only count Buffalo, the rest are not good defenses by any stretch of the imagination at the time you played them. Cleveland got healthy and MIGHT be now, but even they arn't that damn good.

It is Clear Denver was Better , Look at the AFC west games , then go out from there , that what matters the Most , Now we met up with the Steelers without jake , Vikes , Ravens with a 3 rd string QB . Bottom line is Denver is 8-2 under Jake , and he is only getting Better each week . Soo you will wake up and smell the Coffee about Defense .................

If the only game that counts is Buffalo, all of the points in that game were by the offense, unless you want to subtract M. Andersens kicking points.

Dude, who said that? Don't put words in my mouth spin doctor. I said I STILL wouldn't count them. We laid an egg against them. And I already said you scored 38 in buffalo, not to mention they suck, but they have a halfway decent defense though. So I can give you that one. I think I'll give you greenbay, although I remember a late kick return set up that victory as well. I can't prove that though.
To make a long story short, the whole point is, this 40 point juggernaught that you guys claim can drop 40 points doesn't exist. Stats lie. You have to realy look to get the real story. This is in responce to someone saying that it didn't matter if you give up 30 points per game cause the offense can score 40, wich isn't true.

You know what Im noticing about the cleveland game. (Im showing you how good your arguments could be if you took the time to back them up with fact) Im looking at kick and punt return yards, and I see nothing from Hall. There is proof that not kicking to Daunte does not gurantee a win against the chefs. I always thought that was a bad stratagy. Just causes you to make bad kicks and lose the field position battle.

If you are going to quote me, at least get it correct. I did not say it didn't matter if you give up 30 points per game because the offense can score 40.
I said, and I quote:

Accualy it doesn't matter much, but they were missing d and O lineman. I only say they don't count cause they arn't very good. They got to us though cause we played right into there defensiveplan. I think that team will be good next year, they just need a new coach. I think they are a better team then when the chiefs played them, but thats far from an excuse. We still shouldn't have come that close. Thats what happens when you play ball control/defense. Sometimes you can't score enough points to help out your D. Thats how we lost to the bears too.
I didn't make the hang 40 comment, but I do agree they can do it. They're AVERAGING over 30 points a game, what makes you think they can't score 40?

"If the defense gives up 30 points and the offense puts up 40 points do we still lose?"
I understand this, and my responce was, what makes you think you can hang 40 on offense when you've only done it a couple of times to bad teams. You want to win in the playoffs don't you? Then you might not want to rely on dropping 40. Might want to play a little defense. Who cares if you got into the playoffs. We care cause its a step up for us. You guys are focused superbowl, and you accualy think your gonna get there without playing defense. THIS is the base of all our arguments. You can even beat us (convicingly) a team on the cusp, and you lost to the bengals, (another team on the cusp) the colts, titansand Pats will run you guys out of town. Specialy without homefield advantage.

Oddly enough, thats a chink in my armor. The happless vikings who are backpeddling into the playoffs may make you guys look good. Although, they may still miss the playoffs all together so don't count your chickens. If you guys beat them you won't help your own cause there. The vikings area spitting image of the Chiefs. Similar teams at this point. Besides, don't get too happy about beating a team that will barely make the NFC playoffs! I'd laugh hard if you didn't. You should check in with DV. He has a plan and the playoffs are a part of the plan. He says we aren't there yet, but I think we've made great strides towards the goals.
You didn't have to live with the Chiefs from 1972-1988 to appreciated what is happening now, but it really helps. We went through years of less than .500 teams with little or no hope for anything better.
You are right, we don't have the best defense in the league, but last year we felt that if we had a defense that was 10% better we would be in the playoffs. Well, we got the 10%, I'll wait to see where it plays out. I think that even though the defense isn't great like some of them in the past, it has improved over last year. If we maintain the offense as is or improve a little and make another 10% on defense next year, we may repeat.

How 'bout moss quitting on a catchable ball over the middle cause he was gonna get hit? After all those people that screamed how moss was the best WR in the game and how they would overlook his problems to take him. He cost them that game last week by getting punked by a rookie in the endzone!

If GR leaves KC, our defense will improve 25% just because he is gone.
Rumor has it that he will replace Shanarat after this year.

If you guys had ANY defense you would have won this div. last year. IMHO, you guys had a better offense last year. Yeah the D is better, but its not enough to comensate. I think its too early to think "next year". Even though I think you can't do it this year, stranger things have happened. How the hell did the faid get to the SB with that team last year? ???

If GR leaves KC, our defense will improve 25% just because he is gone.
Rumor has it that he will replace Shanarat after this year.
Don't even joke like that!
Yeah, our defense shot up the charts after he left, but even more after Rhodes left. I'll admit, when the Broncos were winning in spit of thier defense in the late 90's I thought it was pretty cool, but I can't tell you how much better you sleep when your eeking out victories with defense. Sounds funny, but you always feel like your gonna win every week, despite what happens.

I actually think they would improve more than 25% and I'm being serious. Some of things he has done this year have been absolutely rediculous. When GR was with Denver, everyone said he blitzed too much. I bet GR hasn't called 10 blitzes this SEASON. He plays the CB's 10 yards off the LOS. Tells the DL to contain blockers, not push upfield.
After the Denver game, they asked Holliday and Hicks (our DE's) why they weren't containing Plummer on the rollouts and they said GR was making them pinch towards the middle on every snap.
DV"s biggest downfall is loyalty. He should have gotten rid of GR last year, but didn't. GR is in the last year of his contract and if they keep him, you'll hear the screams from Denver.

Lots of em' accually! The chiefs need a fresh prespective. The young guys are ruling right now, as far a defense (accualy, I should say new, not young) I think its a new approach to an old attitude. The ravens, bengals, and Broncos all emply this new technique. The pats still use the old theory, but it works cause they have a genius running the show. Greg Robinson does too, but he's too stupid to make the adjustments week to week play to play, game to game.

Your right about the blitzes. Its that he doesn't know when to blitz, and he doesn't know how to gameplan. He uses the same plan for every team. He never gets specific. His coverage desighns are the worst! The chiefs, alot like the broncos, don't have glaring talent on defense. They're best bet is to mix up the coverage a bit more and fake blitzes as aften as you blitz. Also, he hangs his d-line out to dry. Too much zone blitz wich is a desighn thats seen its days and its over. I noticed that they have success blitzing off the corners but not up the middle. I still don't know why that is yet. I'll get back to ya.

That's just my opinion though. ???
I dunno, we lost by a single point to KC and truly dominated them in that game, and in the rematch at Invesco, we embarassed them in the second half.
KC knows we are the better team and there's a psychological hammer hovering over their heads. They're thinking in the back of their minds, hmmm maybe we (the chiefs) aren't that good and we're in for yet another disappointment.. They know how bad they got b*tch slapped in the second game, they know it was a bad call that gave them the first game in arrowhead...
whereas NE is feeling it's oats feeling that no one can match up to them, they have the requisite playoof cockiness going.. The queefs can have absolutely no confidence deep down. They may put on a front, but believe me, it would be just a front.

IMO, the reason the Chiefs _efense has been the fact that GR doesn't allow them to be aggressive. Defense is all about attitude and if they're not allowed to be aggressive, they're not going to have attitude. If you'll notice, when the Chiefs are in goalline or short yardage situations, they're good, because they're allowed to just go for the ball. It's between the 20's they suck, because they're too busy trying to play within GR's schemes. How Denver won 2 SB's with this clown I'll never know.

We've actually only played them five times. Back when they were the Browns, we beat them about 75% of the time over 25 years.
Since they moved to Baltimore, we won the first game 45-34, in 1996.
In 2000, we lost to them in a playoff game in Baltimore, 21-3. Nothing mysterious about that one. We were down to our second string QB, and the Ravens - who had Shannon Sharpe - went on to win the Super Bowl.
In 2001, they'd lost a lot of their championship punch, but were still a decent defensive team, and we were once again ravaged with injuries - mostly to the offense. We lost 20-13.
Last year, we should have cleaned the floor with them. Instead, we turned in what was possibly the worst single performance by our special teams in history (and that's saying a lot) combined with total loss of composure and about a zillion yards in penalties. We finally got our act together after spotting them 30 points or so, but it was too late.
This year, Danny Kannell managed to avoid being a factor in the game until late in the 4th quarter when he basically threw it away.

When watching what little I have of Tui in the pros, the thing that I have noticed he has the ability to make the first guy miss.
In college Tui was all about being a playmaker.

Thanks spider... you are too kind.
Give some artistic endeavor a try... you might find you have a skill that you have not explored that is waiting to be tapped.
I'm taking my kids to LOTR on Friday....
Psssttt… they think it’s for them…. heheheheheh

Looks like the holiday cheer is running over here.....
Patch and Spider getting along....
Next thing you know the Bronco fans and Chiefs fans will all join hands and start singing Christmas Carols and complimenting each other on the strengths of our teams.
The right and left on this board will then come together in harmony. The left will compliment Bush and his fine foreign policy. The right in turn, will promise to stop driving gas guzzling SUV's and promise to give Howard Dean strong consideration in 2004 as well as to promise to rethink what Bill Clinton's lasting legacy will be past the BJ's.
Heck with that. Peace sells, but I am not buying.

I do not like our matchup with the Colts at all at their place. I think we lose this game.
I do like how we match up with GB. I think they are overrated and think we can steal one at Lambeau.

The Raiders will help you out with GB....
They will beat us so bad this Monday that they will become complacent and start thinking they're all that.
Don't say we never gave you nutin' Merry Xmas…

We have a ton of injuries
We have no run defense
We have no pass rush...
Favre will have all day...
Despite Woodson and Buchanon having good years they cannot cover their men that long.
Besides "IF" we do beat them.... their game with you will then have far more meaning...
Not a good thing when you have to travel to their house.

I think the game in GB can be won. I just do not like our matchup with Indi at their pad. Unless we collapse the pocket, Manning will pick us apart. I would rest CP unless he is close to 100%.

I just want to beat the Chiefs in their house in the playoffs...
They are the only team I have absolutely no fear of in the post season.
It's amazing how you can still make EXCUSES and bring up the clip and not even acknowledge all the HOLDING on the DONX and quick whistles this last time around. Funny and TYPICAL how that works! I'd love to face you guys again with a chance to shut you up for good! Revenge is SWEET and it will be extra SWEET with a DONKEY FLAVOR added. ;D

Yeah, Portis is a stud. He was made to make lackluster defenses look stupid. I guess The Broncos season wasn't a complete loss.

Dan Pompei has the Chiefs listed as his most overrated team in the NFL......
He writes this to his colleague Vinnie Iyer (who says the Rams are) in this week's edition of The Sporting News on page 11:
In your search for the most overrated team in the NFL Vinnie, I have this advice for you....Go West, young man. You are in the right state, wrong city.
In Kansas City you can get great ribs, jazz, and Dante Hall kick returns. But you can search from the 18th & Vine district to Kansas Speedway and not find a run defense anywhere.
Sure, the Chiefs put points on the board like Tommy from the '70's rock opera. But, they can give them up in a hurry, too. The Chiefs have allowed opponents enough rushing yards to circle the planet at least 17 times. Only three teams have allowed more, and the Chiefs have surrendered more yards per carry than any team.
Timely takeaways have been the Chiefs' game. But, their defense hasn't shown the ability to prevent a capable opponent from moving the chains in critical situations.
The Chiefs aren't as imposing as their 12-2 record might lead you to believe. They are 3-2 against teams that currently have winning records, which means they have played alot of bad teams.
If you have any doubts about why you should doubt the Chiefs, I can set you up for a tour of their defense.
Your guide: Clinton Portis
What's was that noise...oh, never mind, it's just Portis scoring again.....

Turn overs help...when you get them, you can beat virtually anyone 45-17. Alas for you, when you don't...you get beat 45-27.

Both the chiefs and the raiders will help us this weekend. The fade will lose to GB adn the chefs will beat the queens, making the final game of the season a moot point for GB and they will rest Farve. ;D

heh, and all I've heard from Chief fans is how we can't beat anyone good. Yeah, they've really dominated the better teams themselves this year. ::)
I'll say it once again, we will have played 5 of the 8 division leaders when everythig is said and done. I don't know if any other team can say that, but I'd like to know who it is if there is one.

sooo uh ya how about them there Chefs and you doubted the broncos??????????......... ok reality hit me a few times to but I know with the broncos (more so when Elway was at helm) NEVER SAY DIE and never look at the odds as a good indication Expeciallly when they are in our favor it seems but that is a whole new thread.

Unless they get the mother of all turnovers and Dante dominates special teams, I dont see how then can win in the playoffs .... unless a team like the Browns I leaves the pass game at home or Tenn decides George is totally crippled.
Gotta bring 8 up, and a decent playoff team feeds off of that.
