Alan Hudson resigns from Health Ministry (http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/article/681002) (Toronto Star)
Premier Dalton McGuinty's go-to man in reducing health care waiting times has left the government - less than two months after being replaced as chair of the scandal-ridden eHealth Ontario agency.
Acclaimed neurosurgeon Dr. Alan Hudson last week resigned his full-time, $292,653-a-year job leading the province's efforts to reduce delays in treatment for cancer, cataracts, hip and knee replacements, and cardiac surgery.
The news came as Prime Minister Stephen Harper today waded into the eHealth spending imbroglio - in which consultants who were paid as much as $3,000 a day raised public ire by expensing tea and Choco Bites cookies - with a caustic rebuke of McGuinty for costly delays in creating electronic health records for Ontarians.
He noted Hudson was rattled by the eHealth experience, which became a major political headache for McGuinty, prompting him to clamp down on untendered contracts to consultants and the meals and treats they expense to taxpayers.
Hudson's departure is a further blow to McGuinty's Liberals in the wake of the eHealth debacle, in which revelations of spending abuses have continued to emerge - including an estimated $25,000 spent on writing and tweaking a speech for departed eHealth boss Kramer.
She left the agency in June amid furor over untendered contracts that total at least $16 million, executive perks, and big bonuses.
Bottom line, state-run health care = long waits, substandard care, waste and fraud. No wonder Obama lies and says we won't have a care system like Canada. But can anyone cite a difference between Canada's care system and what Obama wants for the U.S.?
Oh, and here's a statistical bonus portion to chew on:
Health care waiting times in Canada, from CNC:
A typical Canadian seeking surgical or other therapeutic treatment had to wait 18.3 weeks in 2007, an all-time high, according to new research published Monday by independent research organization the Fraser Institute. The waiting time between referral by a GP and consultation with a specialist rose to 9.2 weeks from the 8.8 weeks recorded in 2006. The waiting time between specialist consultation and treatment — the second stage of waiting — increased to 9.1 weeks from 9.0 weeks in 2006. Patients waited longest between a GP referral and orthopedic surgery (38.1 weeks or approx. 9.5 months), plastic surgery (34.8 weeks or approx 8.7 months) and neurosurgery (27.2 weeks or approx 6.8 months). The median wait for a CT scan across Canada was 4.8 weeks. The median wait for an MRI across Canada was 10.1 weeks.
Americans, all this terrific health care can be yours if you just acquiesce to the Democrats who want to run your lives.

Americans instead you can listen to the screaming from the right, no plan only criticism. They spread their disgusting lies to our senior citizens of euthnasia.14000 of you lose health care coverage every day, but according to the right we should do nothing. Rightards see you at the polls.

Not to mention letting the NSA listen in on your phone calls while the FBI checks out the list of books you've taken out of the library. Oh yeah, and then there's the report they want to force from the phone company on who you've been calling.

Hmmm...let me see; that would require not only reading for comprehension the entire 1018 page health care bill and then analyzing the Canadian health care system in depth from scratch. I'm guessing this might take a year if one did nothing else.
Did you really expect an answer to this or was this just a punch line question?
You quoted a story about graft...surely you're not intending to say that graft is absent in the current system right?
No? OK then I must be missing your point...if there is one.

He's just pointing out that there is corruption in the Canadian system but that our system is perfect and that there is no fraud in our system and...
sorry, can't keep a straight face anymore. Hilarious!

The left have sure enjoyed making up numbers and lying about Canada's healthcare, much less our own in the U.S. Most of the people in this country that want healthcare have it. What the bozos want and believe we should do is trash a system for the small percentage of people who don't and very likely screwing up things for the majority of people who like what they have. It takes idiots or nutjobs to think this makes sense.

Definition of a communist: Someone who introduces the same communism that failed everywhere else around the world but insists it will be done better in the U.S. because...because..well, just trust us, it will be better.
Bottom line, it's the same old communism sponsored by the same communists only they now call themselves progressives because too many people got wise to what a communist is.
Communist health care is the same whether it is Canadian, British, French or Chinese. The patient gets no choice. They wait forever and are then told to do exactly what the government orders them to do. The government tells the druggist what he can charge and tells the doctor what he can charge and how he can treat patients. They promote all of this under the guise of holding down costs and treating everybody that needs care. The reality, though, is that the only way to do that is to ration care and kill people through neglect. The Democrats lie and claim it won't happen here even as their plan blueprints they will do exactly the same.

NHS (National Health Service) has gone to the dogs
The Scottish Sun (http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/2589321/Nurse-quits-job-to-walk-dogs.html)
AN NHS nurse quit her stressful £15,000-a-year job - to earn the same salary by walking dogs.
And Julie Odell chooses to work just ten hours a week compared to 40 in the hospital - so could rake in FOUR TIMES as much.
She gets around £30 an hour - compared to £7.50 at the NHS, which she left after "watching standards of care plummet".
Julie of Edinburgh, said: "I'm just part-time but I've heard of one man who charges £10 per dog per hour, takes six dogs on every walk and does three walks every weekday.
"That's £180 per day, and £900 a week - incredible.
"But it's not just about the money. Working for myself is just fantastic."
Julie, 43, revealed she had felt "trapped in this horrible system" while working for the NHS.
She said: "I watched as the standards of care plummeted - but my voice went completely unheard whenever I said 'this isn't the best way we can be doing this'.
"I left and while I was between jobs I met a woman out walking with a dog - and I fell in love with the idea."
Julie added: "Now I get paid to walk around Edinburgh.
"I started out just doing this with one dog but now I have nine or ten.
"It's a proper business now - it's no fly-by-night thing. There's a lot of money to be made."
Julie charges £8 per dog - which includes pick-up, a walk, cleaning if needed, and dropping back home. And she can take six dogs at a time under her insurance, so could make £48 an hour.
Dogwalkers don't need a licence and some people don't bother with insurance so can take as many mutts as they can handle.
And some of Julie's own pals earn £43,000 a year in the job.
The industry is increasingly competitive, with 18 dog-walking firms in Edinburgh alone.
Julie also does cat and dog sitting while their owners are on holiday.
And she insisted she'll never go back to nursing.
Julie said: "I am in heaven. This is a great little business and I'll never look back."
So, not only does walking dogs earn more money than working in the British health care system. It's more rewarding, too. ObamaCare, here we come!

Hopefully, after Obama has instituted communism in America, he builds a Gulag Archipelago and drops your ass in it. !Booya!

Ask the Brits and see how many of them would trade their health
care system for the sub-standard system we have here in the US.

I will the next time I meet a Brit travelling to America because they needed our "substandard" care. Ha!

Why are health costs rising thru the roof?
I heard a story from my neighbor that helped me understand why.
His wife has a heart condition -- and she was in the local hospital for a few days. While she was there, one day two doctors stopped in for a visit.
They were in her room for only a few minutes. They did no tests - no medical delivery of any kind.
Later, my neighbor received a copy of the bill that the hospital sent to the federal government -- for services rendered. I must emphasize -- he only learned about this by chance-- because the hospital accidentally sent him a copy of the bill that went to the federal government (Medicade -- Medicare)
Get this: The hospital charged the federal government $15,000 for one consultation -- and $20,000 for the the other.
This case explains a lot.
The present system is totally corrupt. Doctors, hospitals and HMOs are fleecing the federal government. It is not just that they are OVER charging -- they are charging for made up services -- services never delivered.
Yet, where is the outrage. Not all -- but many doctors in our nation are guilty of felonious fraud -- living high on the hog - sending their sons and daughters to Harvard and Yale -- traveling to Switzerland on vacation -- etc etc etc All at the expense of the taxpayer. It's YOUR money.
So where is the outrage? This case is not unique. This is the rule -- not the exception.
As I have stated on this board -- our nation has descended into a swamp of corruption and evil. You can't fix the problems until and unless you SEE and acknowledge them. Until you understand how bad things are.
At present - as the post atop this thread shows -- we are on a ship of fools.

I would only add this
The failing US medical system is being challenged by a growing health care industry in places like India and Thailand,
These nations presently offer medical services of equivalent or BETTER quality -- for expensive operations, dental work, you name it
at a fraction of the cost of health care in the US. The packages are typically about a third of what Americans pay in the US -- and this includes the round trip plane fare.
Face it -- we Americans are getting ripped off here at home.
Hence the burgeoning success of the Indian model which is designed to be an alternative-- one that enables Americans to save BIG bucks for the same quality of care.
So, why all the stupid posts on this board about health care? As if fixing our system were somehow communistic and evil?
No -- the evil is being done by the AMA, the medical and drug company lobbies - the HMOs etc etc

Because a great number of the American people are so stupid that if you shout the word "Communist!" at them, they'll run face first into a wall. It's kind of like Pavlov's dog.
