Moreno's scouting report was that of a very solid blocker. When he's referred to as an every down back, it's because he can not only run the football but block and pass receive well enough to stay in on 3rd downs. Even Adrian Peterson, regarded by many as the league's best back, comes off the field in 3rd down situations because he's not the blocker or pass receiver that Chester Taylor is.
Upon his drafting, the 1st thing McDaniels praised about Knowshon was his abilities in pass protection. With that, protection schemes are often the hardest for young backs to grasp mentally so it will be challenge to see how quickly Knowshon can get a handle on the scheme.

Clinton Portis like effort in the blocking game. He takes it seriously and personally.

McD said after the draft one of the reasons he picked this kid is because he knows how to pass protect in an NFL system.

The first block by Moreno was awesome, but I like the block by the WR at about 6:33. I run that play with my sixth grade team - but never with quite that velocity! Great block...

Yes. He can block. It's one of the reasons we took him

McDaniels cited specifically Moreno's willingness and ability to pass block as one of the reasons he likes him.
