Hiroshima Day: America Has Been Asleep at the Wheel for 64 Years

This is what I've been saying on this board since I came here in 2006. MHG

You've been saying lots of **** since you got here. Precious little, if any, has come true.

Things like war with Iran, the imposition of martial law, the suspension of elections, the whole gamut of paranoid fears. You're wrong more often than Miss Cleo.

I've been warning about an attack on Iran since 2003 (see link below) -- 3 years BEFORE I came on this board.

Where was W*gs in 2003? Probably cheering Bush! What a moron.

I was one of the first to sound the alarm. But now -- many others think Israel will do the deed, including even the right wing hawk John Bolton, former US ambassador to the UN. Here Bolton actually argues for the US to help Israel do it -- what an idiot.

If you watch the vid -- it's clear that Bolton is not well informed. He is not aware that Iran greatly improved the accuracy of its conventional missiles in the last few years.

This happened thanks to GPS -=- and probably Russian help.

It means Iran can now target Israel's Dimona nuclear plant with conventional weapons. Iran does not need nukes to defend itself.

Two or three direct hits -- with conventional missiles -- and the Dimona plant will become a mini Chernobyl -- leaking an airborne plume of plutonium rich nuclear waste -- that will make the surrounding region uninhabitable for many thousand years.

This would destroy Israel just as surely as a nuclear strike.

Ellsberg is right. The public is deluded. People -- even governments -- do not understand the dangers. We drift toward unparalleled catastrophe.

One of the family cats died last Sunday and his brother is lonely. Question is, should we get another, or get a dog and hope dog and cat get along?

Oh sorry man. I know how that can be. I'd just die if one of my kitties passed away. My black cat Kishka is named after a pet name my old russian gal called me. Did you ever date a russian ?

floppy,

That's a good name for you.

In the coming days -- Dan Ellsberg will be posting installments of his new book -- about the nuclear age. You are one of the people who need to read each and every one -- and take them to heart.

Will you do it?

Mr. Gaffney I assure you without any ego that I have a far greater insight into this topic than you might imagine. I make light because of the gravity attached to it.

Excellent.

But please remember -- no one on this board is a mind reader. You are known by what you post. If you have deep thoughts on the issue -- why make light of it?

I will look forward to your comments.

If you can get a young dog or a puppy, the cat will take care of teaching the dog to respect its space. I once saw a 7-pound Persian cat teach the lesson to a 60-some pound German Shepherd/Chow mix, and the dog never forgot.

If you get another cat, I'd also go with a kitten or a young adult. Was the surviving brother cat neutered at an early age? If so, you can go with either gender for the new companion cat because territory won't be so much of an issue. If the survivor is not neutered, you'd do best with a spayed female (unless you want more kittens).

I'm not a fan of dropping bombs and killing tons of people on a whim, but I'd like to know just what the U.S. could have done differently to end that war. I mean, we send ground troops and we get daily body counts(just when a republican is president of course) whenever some get killed. In fact, the U.S. has tried ignoring as an option and that doesn't solve much either. The U.S. and UN have tried sanctions, but other countries, and the UN itself) just ignore it and continue to do business as usual. So what other reasonable options were there? I guess just wait conflicts out while people keep getting killed on a daily basis is the answer.
