South Platte between Sedalia and Deckers... Quiet and great fishing.

Miles upon miles of this...

I've caught an 18" Rainbow and tons of smaller ones. A buddy of mine pulled a 22" Brown about a month ago. I don't get out nearly often enough :(

I was born in Colorado but barely remember a lot from it but one place that really sticks in my mind besides the major cities and living in Colorado Springs, pike's peak and the rest of the mountains.

Cripple Creek. lol not sure if that place still exists but I remember it as a kid and if I remember right it was kinda cool they had a old western town theme with gunfights and everything.

hope to return to my birthplace one day and explore Colorado I was thinking about making a trip out to one of the games if I get some extra money.

but yeah does Cripple Creek still exist? It seemed big back in the day I am 22 now I must have been only 3 or 4 last time I been there.

;D you should talk to Baja some time. He lived in Cripple Creek/Victor way back when. Those old cowboy battles on the train, they had a plan to rob everyone as part of the 'act' but keep the 'loot'. This was back in the late 70's early 80's. I grew up just outside of Cripple Creek... well, not really grew up but lived there for years and spent summers and weekends up there. My wife's family now has a summer home up there so we go up there fairly often. Cripple Creek itself has grown, lots of Casinos and what not. Still, you can't beat the views.

If all you want is a place without any people, WY definitely fits the bill, but can you tell your fellow statesmen to learn how to drive before they cross our border? I know you guys get all scared any time there are more than 2 cars on any mile of road, but come on.

And I don't know how anyone could say WY is as beautiful as CO. I guess if you're comparing it to the eastern plains maybe. I'm pretty sure you forgot about some of the things other than football that make CO 100x better than WY. I won't remind you of them though.

Don't worry about us telling our friends that WY sucks, I'm sure they already know.

Dunton eh? Never been there. Been to the website and holy cow with those prices you better have a good time!

I've hit most of the hot springs in Colorado and am going on a major NW tour this fall. Hoping to hit 10 or more of them them around Idaho/Oregon.

Dunton is not worth the money. Beautiful, but not worth the prices.

Owl Creek Pass, Ouray, T-ride, Silverton, Gunnison Gorge, black canyon (way cooler than the Grand IMO) the list could go on and on. What an amazing state!

You cannot compare the Eastern Slope (Denver and beyond) and Western Slope IMO. Love Denver but it's a whole different animal to the vast areas beyond the divide. There are still wilderness areas of 1+ Million acres out this way.

Whoops...Nevermind The Western slope is trashed. I'd recommend WY.

well you're right.....wyoming is a lot like the eastern plains of colorado....oh yeah thats right....the eastern plains of wyoming look just like eastern colorado. and the northern and western side of wyoming looks just like the rest of colorado.....but much much better!!! FO SHO....how could that be you ask? because we don't have 3million people ****in it up!!!!!!

like i said, i think colorado is beautiful, would love to live there myself....but never will. too too tooo tooooo tooooo many people! i love that wyoming has a very low population....make fun of as you will, but you would understand what im saying if you knew what i know! but you don't so all you do is make fun of it, ignorance is bliss!!

just remember.....the more people the more rules that there are to govern those people. think land use! but maybe you dont use your land....wait i know you dont use a lot of it because it is privately owned. you can keep all that pretty country that is owned....its like saying you live on the best block because your neighbors are rich.....dont you want something for your own?

i will never have to worry about finding land to going camping, hunting, fishing or atv riding.....but you, you will have only a select few places to go...yes they are nice but few and far between.

oh and you can keep all that nice crisp clean refreshing haze you call air. im still happy every morning when i wake up and i can see the mountains that are 65 miles away.

trust me, most wyoming people dont care if the rest of you think our state sucks because we just dont care what others think. we are not as worried about what others think about us as you do. it is amazing how many of you colorado and utah people say wyoming sucks, but our populations doubles every summer because of colorado and utah people coming up to use our public lands.

:twokisses

about those drivers......you will never understand how bad of drivers colorado people are......leave colorado for awhile then go back! we may go slow, but we don't drive like ****in idiots just because it takes us hour to travel across town. Meck77.....come on, it was all in jest!

actually i have traveled a lot in colorado.....actually every single member of my extended family live in colorado from littleton to crestone to fruita. Mom was from aurora and dad grew up in steamboat. mom and dad went to school at CSU (still hate those bastards) oldest sister attended fort lewis in durango. one grandmother stays in a nursing home in salida.

my grandfather (marvin "pete" linson) was a part of CSU and colorado school system for sometime. he received one of his degree's after 1948 at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado. In 1953 Marvin was an Assistant Supervisor for vocational Agricultural Education for the State Board of Education in Denver, Denver County, Colorado. He was advanced to Supervisor two years later. He lived in Denver, Denver County, Colorado in 1953. He received a an unknown major (PhD) degree in 1964 in Ohio State University, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. In 1966 Marvin was a State Director of Vocational Education in Denver, Denver County, Colorado. After 1973 he was a member of the graduate staff of the vocational Education Department at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado. He joined the staff following his recovery from a heart attack. Marvin retired in 1984. He retired from state service after 35 years with the State of Colorado, and forty years in Education

someone on here may know him or who he was.....really proud of him and his accomplishments, as you can tell.

i really do like the state a lot, love the broncos and will come down and see the rockies play a few times a summer, but i just had to "POKE" fun of the colorado people....its kinda what i do to my family members that still live there.

its all relative....i actually would date a girl who chewed before i dated one who smoked....ever kiss a smoker......nasty as hell!!!!!!

ever try to inhale a lung full of air in room where it was just chewers? like heaven compared to a bar full of smokers.

now if you smoke i don't care, so don't come knockin on my door, i was just sayin.....if you smoke you stink and so does the air around you.

its ok we will all still get along, and remember i did not bring this up the other guy did. LOL

I will never accept that Wyoming drivers are better than Coloradans. I live in Fort Collins and every time I drive down to Denver and traffic gets backed up, I'm sure it is because some idiot with WY tags is driving 1 MPH faster than the semi in the right lane going 65 and felt the need to pass instead of just slowing down that 1 MPH. And you know what? I'm right about that more often than not, provided there isn't an accident (Coloradans are horrible rubberneckers around accidents). You guys don't deal with traffic ever, so you have no idea how to drive once you get into it and it screws everything up for the rest of us.

For me, it's New Mile High (the "I" word should NEVER be used), my Great Grandmother's (now my great uncle's) cabin in Estes Park, my home golf course (Castle Pines North), the Royal Gorge, and like you I'll give the shout out to Loveland Pass and Loveland Ski Area.

As our first Governor said, "Tis a privelege to live in Colorado."

LOL someone in Colorado that thinks they can drive ..........
you guys are Idiots behind the wheel ........

;D pretty good and with you ?
Seriously the #1 maneuver in Colorado = Some Guy is about to miss his exit , he will cut across 3-4 lanes of traffic to make that exit , instead of going up to the next exit , turning around and coming back ..... you guys got that trick down pat ....... New Mexico ...... 80 mph , then break check , right back to 80 mph , nother break check , construction zone ,means nothing , dont even hit the brake ..... turning signals are for wimps and sissys

South Platte:

I would guess that almost everyone has heard of the South Platte - it's somewhat of a legend.

The beauty of the river is not just the abundance of fish and easy access. Huge granite boulders lie in portions of the stream, fallen from the walls of the canyons. Much of the granite here is exfoliated, creating domed shapes that are both unusual and mystic. But take your eyes off those canyon walls - this river holds an abundance of trout - rainbows and browns - averaging anywhere from 4000 to 7000 fish per mile. The river can also hold an abundance of fisherman on weekends.
