Mason retires (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4325120)

Will this change the approach of the Ravens? Rumors already had them linked to Marshall. Is it possible that the Ravens will now increase their pursuit, thereby sending the Broncos fair market value, or better yet, higher market value? I just find it interesting since Mason was such a huge part of their offense and he is now retiring.

Read this article posted July 6. Fox Sports (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9773812/10-teams-with-missing-parts-and-how-to-fill-them)

Here's a look at 10 franchises with question areas heading into the preseason and some potential solutions to address them:

Baltimore: Wide receiver

With shaky depth behind a 35-year-old starter (Derrick Mason) and Mark Clayton, Baltimore surprisingly did little to address the position this offseason. Deep threat Demetrius Williams has battled injuries the past two seasons, while Yamon Figurs and offseason pickup Kelley Washington are expected to contribute more on special teams than offense.

Possible solution: Brandon Marshall. The Ravens have internally discussed making a trade offer to Denver for the disgruntled wideout. Marshall is one of the league's top young players but also among its most troubled with a long history of police incidents related to domestic violence. A change of scenery and off-field tutelage from Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis may do Marshall a world of good.

How do you think Mason's decision will change the Ravens approach to thier wide receiver position?

That's a relief, I thought for a moment Andrew Mason had given up completely, and at a relatively young age.

That's a shame. Derrick Mason was one of my favorite players.

Baltimore is not going to give up fair market value for B-Marsh, and Denver has no reason to trade him--he is under contract!

So was Cutler... and for 3 more years compared to Marshall's 1. Nothing surprises me anymore... nothing.

The Ravens (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/31) haven't officially recognized Derek Mason's retirement, and that's why teammates will try to change the 12-year veteran's mind. There has been speculation that the Ravens (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/31) are looking again at Brandon Marshall (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/2902), the disgruntled wide receiver who has requested a trade from the Denver Broncos (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/7).

Brandon Marshall straight up for Haloti Ngata? I'd take it.

But that's probably why I'm not an NFL GM.
