I mean damn I'd love for him to just explode here in Denver but I've seen alot of Bears games (why we get so many here in OK is beyond me) and none of their QB's were worth a shyt so I'll wait and see it on the field before I go off

As much over hype Rome gets for being the Dallas QB, he is very good QB. I know that it fashionable to hate on him, but there are all but handful of teams that wouldn't dramatically improve with him behind center.

Romo gets the hype because he plays for the Dallas Pokes. You can easily make the argument that the 2008 pokes were the most talented team in the NFL. TO was just the icing on the cake.

Hell, Romo had Jason Witten to lob the ball to (IMHO the best TE in the game) and they still went 9-7 and finished 3rd in the NFCE and did not make the playoffs. How the hell does that happen?

Put Farvre on that team and they make the playoffs (that is saying a lot right there). Hell, put Jeff Garcia on that team and they make the playoffs.

I'm not kidding, I betcha Cutler had twice as many dropped INT's as any other QB in the league last year. And I'm not talking about one's that skipped of a DB's outstretched fingertips or ones that hit a DT in the foot. I'm talking about the kind that hit LB's or DB's right in the sweet spot. The kind where once they dropped the sure INT, the player fell to the ground in disbelief, knowing that most pop warner kids could have made the catch. Cutler easily should have had 28 INT's last year. And I didn't just bring this up after the trade. I was bagging on him throughout most of the final part of the season because he made such a big deal about cutting down on his INT's from the previous year. He obviously made no improvements in that area at all.

One quarterback had the kind of season he wanted last year: Ben Roethlisberger. Anyone else who considered their season to be complete is mistaken.

The fact that Tony Romo is at the top of this "clutch" list tells you how worthless this list is.

He got a ring. Stats are nice and fun to talk about, but you ask any player (who is not a selfish bitch) if he'd rather have the best stats or the most rings and tell me what he says.

My point is not that whoever wins the Super Bowl is necessarily the best in the league, but that he is the only one who completed his task. Ask Tom Brady if his best season was 2007 or 2004. He'll say 2004, I guarantee you. Was Elway's best season the one where SF beat our asses in the Super Bowl or was it 1997/1998? Statistically it was the former, but the one we all care about were the ones that got rings. Any season that does not result in a championship is a season in which not all goals are met, period.

There's no point in bashing Cassel right now. Any attempts to do so are complete weaksauce. There's zero evidence he sucks. All the evidence says "wow, this guy is going to be good."

Actually Shanny had 7 and we were rated pretty high in rushing yards.

I was at the NO game, that game should have been a blow out but the D let them back in.

If our D makes one stop in the Buff game in the 2nd half (before 5:00 left in the game) we have won the Division.

There's no point in bashing Cassel right now. Any attempts to do so are complete weaksauce. There's zero evidence he sucks. All the evidence says "wow, this guy is going to be good."

Until he throws 4 interceptions to Deltha O'Neal or something, just step off.

Well this thread was an attempt at bashing Orton, made by fan of a team who's quarterback is in the same league as Orton. At least on the grounds of this comparison.

He got a ring. Stats are nice and fun to talk about, but you ask any player (who is not a selfish b****) if he'd rather have the best stats or the most rings and tell me what he says.

Satistically? Neither of those years try 1995. He lead the league in Att, Comp, and Yards. He was second in tds that year with 25.

No ring. He'll say 1997 and 1998 were his best years. I guarantee it. That's what winners say. Brady and Manning will both say the Super Bowl years were better years than the record setting years. Marino would trade all of the yards and TDs for a ring. If your season ends without a ring, you still have business to attend to. Period.

I understand that but his best year stat wise. The 89 super bowl year wasn't that great for John he had like 18 TDs and 18 Ints. Elways stats got better as he got older and Shanny came to town.

The two QBs played on different teams with very different offensive talent and schemes.

Now they've switched teams so this stat means what exactly??

Or is the purpose to show that Cutler is more talented than Orton??
Wow, what a revelation. Ha!

As usual, Boob has illustrated his stupidity with a meaningless stat, which must be the point of this thread.

When the game was on the line 2.5% of his passes were picked...

When the game was on the line 6.25% were tds...

Now lets do ortons 4.3% aprox of his throws were picks

While only 2.12% were tds...

I'd go with choice #1 everytime.

When you have the best O-Line in football, 3 major league wr's, and a coach whose mentality is 'throw first, run second', your chances of success increase exponentially. Granted, Cutler still had to make the play but comparing Cutler's situation in Denver to Orton's in Chicago is silly (marginal wr's, marginal OL, and a 'run first/grind it out and win by field position' mentality). This is not a knock on Cutler--anybody who argues that Orton is better than him is flat out wrong, and that really shouldn't be the question being asked. The question being asked is can Orton assimilate McD's offense and contribute to success in the context of a team. The answer is to be determined, but let's eliminate the superfluous comparisons right now.

Keep moving those goalposts and deflecting....somehow a thread about Jay Cutler and Kyle Orton is now about Matt Cassel.

Not really it has every QB in the league on it. You should start a thread on CP how you guys should be sick that Cassell with all his weapons wasn't too good in the redzone. Whatever lets pull out this after next year since then both Cutler and Orton will have played in the same situation.

I'm not really concerned about the quarterback rating part. That's mostly going to be skewed based on TD/INT alone. I look more at completion percentage and yards per attempt.

Cassel clearly wasn't a world-beater in the fourth quarter but he was moving the chains. I'd guess, if you looked it up, the Patriots had one of the better fourth quarter offenses in the NFL.

Anyway...loving this thread!

Imagine if Cutler had played on an offensive machine like the Bears instead of behind that ****ty line with ****ty receivers and a ****ty offensive coach, huh?

Cutler will finally get to shine now that he's out from under all of those awful circumstances he had to deal with in Denver. I can't wait to watch him succeed.

Sad. Why don't give the asterisk key and the angry switch a rest there, pal.

They also had the lowest Strength of Schedule and the year prior smashed all records in offensive scoring -- while going 18-1. Cassel didn't eff it up but he didn't exactly light the world on fire. Not sure he justifies a $60+ million contract. This offseason has been a painful one for Broncos fans and you have probably rubbed yourself raw at the possibility of the Chiefs gaining ground.

Let's bring this thread back at the end of the season and see what the Broncos $950k QB does vs. the Chiefs $12 million QB.
