Brandon Marshall To Police: I Hate Denver, I Hate This F*n City
Marshall Says He Wanted To Be Traded During 2007 DUI Stop
Arthur Kane and Tony Kovaleski, CALL7 Investigators

POSTED: 12:36 pm MDT June 30, 2009
UPDATED: 12:58 pm MDT June 30, 2009
DENVER -- Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall said he wanted to be traded more than 18 months ago and said he "hated Denver," according to documents obtained by the CALL7 investigators.

Marshall was arrested for driving under the influence on Oct. 22, 2007, and according to the police report, he started verbally attacking the city of Denver and saying he wanted to leave the Broncos.

"I hate Denver. I hope I get traded. I hate this ******** city," an officer wrote in the police report.

The report was only made public after CALL7 investigators asked for it, after receiving a tip about the report's content. Read full report -- WARNING: Graphic Language

The information is particularly relevant because Marshall has recently asked for a trade.

Marshall also berated police for stopping him and not finding the killer of fellow Bronco Darrent Williams.

"Why aren't you guys out looking for Williams' killer?" the report says.

Calls to Marshall's agent Kennard McGuire in Texas have not been returned. Broncos spokesman Dave Gaylinn declined a request for an on-camera interview and said the Broncos have no statement about the police report.

Marshall entered a guilty plea to driving while ability impaired in September and was sentenced to 12 months probation and 24 hours of community service.

During the arrest, police repeatedly asked Marshall if he will submit to an alcohol test and Marshall said he wants to speak to his attorney, the report said.

Marshall also appears to ask police to let him go.

"I want to go home, how 'bout that?" the report says when Marshall was asked whether to submit to a breathalyzer test.

A lot more black athletes probably hate it in Denver, but do not admit it.

No matter what Marshall or his cousin did, that did not justify the action taken by the murderer of Williams. Marshall could have pissed on the guy/guys and that bastard still didn't have the right to take William's life.

So I would love Denver? And hate Miami? I missed the thread where I need to be the same ethnicity as everyone else to have fun.

He does have a point, not from a race point of view, but more from a culture. Demographics can play a role in how a city caters to it's people. For example, if the city has a very small Hispanic population and you like to Salsa, you might have a hard time finding a club that will cater to that type of dance style. If you went to say, Southern Cali you would have no trouble finding one (i'm assuming, I've never been to Cali).

If you are African and enjoy African food, but the city has next to zero African population, good luck finding an African restaurant. The way a city caters to it's people will have an influence on wither the person will or will not like it there.

Now just because a city is high in one demographic and low in another doesn't completely mean the person won't find what they want, but they will have an easier time if the demographics is more in their favor.

I do think Chauncey enjoyed his time in Detroit....you have any direct quotes where he said that he 'could not wait to leave Detroit'....or are you just talking out of your ass?

Chauncey in 2007: ''This is the first city and the first organization that has ever really shown me any love. ''There was never really a point where it got close to me leaving. My heart was set on staying in Detroit.''

He said provoked not justified. I said when it happened maybe people in Denver just had not come to grips with life around crips and bloods. You don't argue with them or provoke them, you avoid them.

Then again I grew up in 80's a few miles from Compton in N Long Beach. We just got schooled in that sort of thing way earlier then the rest of the country.

DENVER -- Denver Broncos Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall said he wanted to be traded more than 18 months ago and said he "hated Denver," according to documents obtained by the CALL7 Investigators.

Marshall was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Oct. 22, 2007, and according to the police report, he started verbally attacking the city of Denver and saying he wanted to leave the Broncos.

"I hate Denver. I hope I get traded. I hate this f******* city," an officer wrote in the police report.

The report was only made public after CALL7 Investigators asked for it, after receiving a tip about the report's content.

“What we know about Brandon Marshall is he is a supremely talented football player on the field with the habit of getting in trouble off the field,” said Adam Schefter, NFL correspondent for ESPN.
The information is particularly relevant because Marshall has recently asked for a trade.

“I think that we've known Brandon Marshall is interested in a change of scenery, and I think these comments show that that change of scenery is probably not very new in his thinking its something that dates back to his arrest,” Schefter said. “These are some deep-seated feelings that came out during this incident and now they have come to light.”

"I want to go home, how 'bout that?" the report says when Marshall was asked whether he wanted to submit to a breathalyzer test. He eventually did. The result of that test showed that he had a blood alcohol content level of 0.116.

So his wanting to leave dates back to Shanny years...hmmmm

Brandon needs mental help it's clear to see he is a ticking time bomb.

It's kind of annoying when people chose titles that don't say what the thread is about. I didn't even open BabyTO's thread because I normally don't open threads where the title tells me nothing. Opening this thread is pretty much first hand info for me.

BabyTO's thread title should be changed, seeing that one thread has already been merged into it. If this thread is merged into as well, another poster will likely start a thread on the same topic.

Marshall: 'I hate Denver'Views 9948 Comments 1305 06:05 AM ET 07.01 Share Print It My T&R

Denver Broncos Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall said he wanted to be traded more than 18 months ago and said he "hated Denver," according to documents obtained by the CALL7 Investigators. Marshall was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Oct. 22, 2007, and according to the police report, he started verbally attacking the city of Denver and saying he wanted to leave the Broncos. "I hate Denver. I hope I get traded. I hate this ******** city," an officer wrote in the police report.

A day late and a dollar short.

I've gone back and forth on my feelings on Marshall for a long time. I've tried to argue with people on him from both sides of the coin.... Last year I think I was telling Popps he was an idiot for not having faith in Marshall. This year I was telling someone else they were an idiot for not reading fully through my post re: how Marshall's claim that his mcdonald's bag injured hand still had very little feeling at the end of the year plus the continued off-field problems with a new girl, made me question whether or not this guy was worth keeping around.

But, honestly, this is something that happened in 2007 - the height of Marshall's douchebaggery. He was really only guilty of being stupidly drunk and driving. His comments about Denver should not be given much weight almost two years later... Yes, its clear he wants out of this city. However, at that time, he was drunk and he was friends with DWill, who had died the year before, and perhaps felt somewhat guilty about that.

I'm sure that if anyone here got pulled over for a DUI, with a .11 bac, you're going to probably say something stupid to the cops that you will later regret.... how can you not assume that when a brash young NFL player gets pulled over for a DUI in the town they play for that they're not going to say something like this.

I also think tsiguy has it right... I think Marshall and Walker were both really screwed up over the DWill killing. And perhaps they should be. Either way, its stretching a bit to take this one piece of info from 2 years ago and make a huge deal about it now.

If we want to talk about getting rid of Marshall, lets focus on how his play will be for the Broncos this year and whether he is going to do anything else to jeopardize how many games hes going to play. If he continues to act like a big baby and he refuses to play - then he's an ass who doesn't deserve to wear the giant pony head helmet.

It probably won't be long before somebody starts a 4th thread on this very topic because they didn't see a thread on this topic. And then people will rag on that person for starting a duplicate topic.

Mods need to change the thread title.

...said Brandon Marshall.

Why?

Denver is not the place it used to be. There are no longer supportive fans, and in their place are sniping know-it-all Monday morning QB's who make players' lives difficult during the week, and show little support on Sunday.

Thats part of the reason why all of these talented players want to go somewhere else.

Mile High Magic is gone.

Broncos fans are about to hit rock bottom and see what its really like to have an unsuccessful franchise.

If you mean we'll always hold our players accountable and demand a good product and let players know how we feel should they play like crap and act like juvenile idots then yes we are monday morning QBs. Mile High Magic hasn't left we drafted children that felt entitled and tried to impose their crap on us. Screw them, be a Bronco and love the team/town and we will cheer loudly and stand behind you. We had a storied history and a great team long before Cutler and Marshall brought their sub .500 attitude and we'll be just fine when their gone.
