Interesting you like him so much. Anybody interested in hearing the personalities of some of the guys when I worked with the team in 1984, and at KOA 85 and 86?

How come Ricky Hunley was never arrested for impersonating a football player ?

Speaking of personalities ... the guy was a dick. I seeme to rtemeber he was signed a few games into the season, he came in and just was not friendly to teammates or staff. Stared in the mirror like ALL the time ... :oyvey:

Actually no ... 1984 was his second season, first full year as a starter, we went 13-3.

1985 not quite as well .... '86 the first Super Bowl.

85 didn't we have a great year but lose to Pitt in 1st round and that was when the Elway cannot win the big game crap started?

I know Bradshaw said Elway was a bitch and never would win the big game when he pulled off the trade to Denver but I thought Bronco fans held out until the Pitt loss.

The Elway watch , but it didnt go negative until after 91 ....... we lost to Buffalo 10-7 ( steve Sewell Fumble) then the talk of Elway is losing his skill , and all kinds of crazy bull**** , Reeves never wanted Elway , was looking for any excuse to **** can his ass ......

That was 84 yes .... BRUTAL first-round playoff loss at home after 13-3 record. Not John's fault though ... Abercrombie and Pollrd ran all over us.

I dunno ... I seem to recall the town was so in love with the kid, he could do no wrong the first couple season, even the first four. All the way up to the Redskins Super Bowl ... that's the first I recall any local criticism. ???

I do remember however, his 1983 rookie year home game against the Raiders ... Reeves made us wear white in Mile High Stadium (I'll never forgive him for that weak Cowboy-copying-bitch crap), and John became so frustrated, he stayed down on the ground after a sack, kneeling with his head on the ground. He wasn't injured, but he came outta the game as if he was.

Great LB, fun to watch. I thought the 77 Oline was underrated because they kept the heat off Morton but Swenson made a ton of plays on the Crush D's.

Clady is a top 15 pick, Orton is a scrub.... maybe that's it.

And Orton's an untalented fruit-cake playing THE most difficult position in the NFL, but that's just my opinion. What's not my opinion: He was beaten repeatedly by Rex Grossman and Brian Griese.

Kyle Orton :peace:

Haward Griffith outside of Denver no one knows just how good a FB he was
Tom Nalen one of the best Centers ever, but not well known outside of Denver
Matt Lepsis was an anchor on the line for years but never got any recognition
Dwayne Carswell not a glamourous pick but he was all about the team and rarely got any notice
Jake Plummer he was really good for us, even though so many hated on him

Morton has that honor , granted Morton played in a different time in the NFL ( P.I. wer not so strict , and a Receiver going over the middle meant something back then ) Mrton couldnt even tie his own shoes cause his ribs were bruised so bad , and Morton still played the second half of SB12

My father used to rant about the Pro Bowl every year Simon Fletcher was omitted.

I agree that Mike Anderson was never given his full due. Not sure he was completely underrated, but was always underappreciated to be sure.

Anderson was with us at a bad time to get the recognition he deserved. his 1st 2 years we all were waiting for the day TD would return and just overlooked the Marine. 3rd and 4th seasons he took a backseat to Portis. 5th season was an injury year for the Broncos and Droughns ended up our starter. 6th season he split carries with Tatum and then ended up in Baltimore.

he was always overlooked because someone who was either more beloved by fans, or more talented than him was always ahead of him in Denver.

but i agree, he is a severely underrated Bronco.

You slight Morton who took us further had a lot of success for us.

Plus Morton was not mobil which meant he had more Moxie because he stayed in the pocket and took the hits to get the ball downfield.

Jake couldn't throw from the pocket to save is life.

Fletcher I can see to an extent.

Anderson, I would agree if he didn't keep getting in trouble and ruining his promise, plus the PS punt return groin tear didn't help him. or us, that year.

Randy Gradishar. Simply because he is not in the HOF.
That was my thinking when I first saw the thread topic. It all depends on whether you mean "underrated by the media" or "underrated by the fans". If it's about the media, then Gradishar's obviously in the top 5.

Fletcher is another obvious one, and from the Shanahan era I think Howard Griffith was never fully appreciated.

Nalen is a great, but I don't want to call him underrated until he retires and gets a few years of HoF eligibility. If he doesn't go into the HoF, then he's hugely underrated.

EDIT: Yes, Rod Smith is definitely underrated.
