Already some rumors the Avalanche will trade down a couple spots if they can get rid of Smyth's contract. They are talking with the Kings and Atlanta for flipping picks and dumping Smyth.

If Hedman goes #2, then it's likely the Avalanche get Tavares.

i see Tavares and i think of just a ton of hype. i mean the guy is good, and i would be happy with him, but if it came down to Duchene or Tavares, i would go with Duchene.

Why would they trade down?? Doesn't make any sense to me!! The Avs are desperate for good young talent and those top 3 guys are a sure thing from what i've been hearing!! I heard they are shopping Liles and Hannan also!!

Why would they trade down??

Need to dump salary, you guys are right at the cap.

Lots of other teams will be doing the same shortly.

Also I saw on Hockeyfuture boards, that the cap is only going up 100,000 dollars. Pretty much staying the same, it will drop at some point.

I honestly don't know. Dean Lombardi is so unpredictable and nobody knows. He could trade up/down or trade it in a package for Heatley (unlikely). There's a lot Dean could do. He's pretty locked in when it comes to trades and draft.

I would hope we take the swede...Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson. He reminds me of a Bure/Forsberg type. We also need a left-winger.

From what i've heard we're in the talks of bringing a Swede in, suppose to be pretty good, Gustavsson(sp?) i think his name is. I guess the Avs and Roy have been talking to him...

I was hoping the Penguins would add some more offensive support to help Sid and Geno with a Jeremy Morin or a Ferraro, but getting Simon Despres at 30 was very good value and we'll probably need him not too long from now with Sarge probably leaving the scene after next year and Scuds probably unsignable after his postseason.

Yeah, Depres is great value at #30. I think Jordan Caron would have been the best fit for you guys, personally. Big winger that could play on Crosby's wing when Guerin calls it quits.

I gotta say I haven't followed the Avs much since the glory days of Roy, Sakic and Forsberg, and in fact I couldn't even tell you who the current coach is, but I do have one briliant insight to contribute:

I can't help notice this guy's name "duchenes"...conveniently lends itself to an easy transition to "Douche-me"...or some other heinous derivitive...just giving you a head's up in case he gets traded in a couple years or wants more money. :flower:

I like the fact that the Kings added another goaltender to the system, You gotta have long term depth.

Hockey's Future said about Berube, ``J-F Berube caught the eyes of many despite his limited work this season. The big butterfly goaltender is always square to the shooter and moves quickly between the pipes. In fact, some say the only real flaw this Quebec native has is the lack of playing time and exposure.''

Comparison: Jonathan Bernier.;D

This Kings team is going to be nasty in a couple years, some of the guys we drafted have some serious grit.

I go to UNH so I saw Millan play a couple times this year and he is the real deal. I would have been happy if the Devils spent as high as a 3rd on this guy.

Very technically sound and quite obviously shows up in big games. Could be a good one down the road and should be a solid backup at least.

Thank god the flyers are still the flyers. This has Hatcher Part II written all over it. Why they didn't or couldn't put together an offer for Boumeister puzzles me, but am happy they didn't get a young Dman who won't decline soon.

He's going to be tough and he's still very very good - but i don't know if it'll be the impact the flyers want.

I am pleased that I got selected by my beloved Red Wings, although the spelling is not Nick Jensen, but Nik Jensen, I was born in 1980 and not 1990 and I am 6'6, not 6'1 and I never went to St Cloud State.

The Tampa trade was excellent, getting picking up a 3rd round pick for moving down 4 spots.

Ferraro is a solid pickup, he has a ton of speed and plays both ends and has a scoring touch, he reminds me a lot of Darren Helm, who was also the top scorer for his team in the WHL (Kelowna) and won the shooting accuracy contest (as well was speed) at the CHL top prospect game. I am really excited about this kid.

Tatar has solid skills, he is a real Red Wings pick, super skilled, slightly undersized but plays with the grownups at age 18.

We took the obligatory Swedish 7th round flyer who will inevitably turn into a superstar that everybody but Hakan Anderson missed. Thank god for Hakan.
