In an interview with the website Real Clear Politics, Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC) was asked about the “view that perhaps Republicans are rooting for President Obama to fail.” This question was a clear reference to Rush Limbaugh, who infamously said, “I hope Obama fails.” Sanford responded in unequivocal terms:

SANFORD: I don’t want him to fail. Anybody who wants him to fail is an idiot, because it means we’re all in trouble.

In the past, Limbaugh has attacked other Republicans who have expressed hope for President Obama to succeed, declaring that they are “drinking the Kool-Aid… they’re afraid of being called racists.”

I had just finished my post about hate speech, asserting Rush Limbaugh is a psychopathic liar and one of the angriest men in the world, published it, and moved on when I saw today's LA Times article/commentary "Right Wing Media Feeds Its Post-Election Anger."

But many on the losing end of last week's election want to hold on to their anger. And there are those in the media -- led by the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity -- only too ready to feed that animus, along with their own ratings.

"The Obama recession is in full swing, ladies and gentlemen," Limbaugh told his radio audience of 15 million to 20 million on Thursday. "Stocks are dying, which is a precursor of things to come. This is an Obama recession. Might turn into a depression." (Los Angeles Times)
The article says at Limbaugh should at least get credit for never claiming to be fair.

President-elect Barack Obama hsn't even been sworn into office yet, and Rush Limbaugh is already blaming him for a recession brought on by eight years of Bush policies.

Not when he is invited to speak as (basically) the voice of one of the two dominant political parties in the U.S. People on the right love to laugh off the effects of voices like Rush's, and Coulter's and Hannity's. But they have an erosive quality on our national dialogue. They turn political disagreements into hatred. Propagandists should never be taken lightly. How many GOP members of Congress will now refuse to cross the aisle and work on bi-partisan issues just for fear that Rush will come on the radio tomorrow and start driving them out of the party? Rush is rattling the sabers of the extreme right and he's got the entire GOP running scared because of it.

The whole Republican party is shambles. That's the only reason people like Rush have a voice. The party will have to further erode, then rebuild itself.
