My gf and I are thinking about taking advantage of the good deals right now and hitting up Vegas during the last week of June/first week of July (we'll be gone before Independent Day). I'm afraid of heat though, is it going to be so hot that I won't be able to function? We don't have anything big planned, just kinda peruse the different hotels, maybe hit up that outlet mall and go see strippers (pretend i have strikethrough and used it there) some shows.

What do you think, is it worth going?

*edit* Don't forget, I'm a Canadian lolz :S

nah, it'll be fine. they've got pools you can lounge in, misters everywhere, and air conditioning cranked everywhere you go. leave your parkas at home.

you don't go outside much, so it doesn't matter what time of year you go

on a positive note, you can see tourists and small animals bursting into flames on the street from your hotel room.

I was at the Mandalay Bay pool last July 4th. My Ipod actually melted (the face)

You should have sold it on ebay and claimed it melted into the shape of Jesus or mother terresa

Heck ya its worth going. The heat isnt bad if you stay at the pools or in the casinos, the casinos are like 50 degrees, and the pools are cold. The only heat you put up with is when you go from Casino to Casino, its a peice of cake and so worth the cheap trip.

It's a dry heat and you'll be inside more often than not so I wouldn't worry about it.

The price of flights is about to go through the roof....get the tickets ASAP and be sure to thank the speculators for that.

The pool at Hard Rock is unbelievable. They have a pool party on Sunday called Rehab that is out of this world. google it..."rehab at hard rock"

Go to hawaii ........ i got round trip tickets from LAX for 300 a piece and the hotels are giving great deals to attract people.

u likely would spend the same cash if you factor in strippers and gamling/shows.

I lived in Vegas for 5 years, I first worked day jobs but the heat was just to much.

So I got a night job, and then I would stay indoors all day in AC.

You pretty much becomes a night person, well at least I did.

Mandalay Bay is nice... nice pool. Probably great prices right now, too.

The desert heat is probably more bearable than the humid days of summer I experience in the middle of the United States...

If you like golf and can stay hydrated golf is dirt cheap in the summer.

On the trip overall, go. You'll be inside too much to worry about it.

I'd say stay inside as much as possible during the day. At night it's hot, but it's not a big deal. Once the sun goes down you'll be good.

Oh and another piece of advice if you go.... wear sunglasses whenever you can. You'll see so much @ss out there your head will be spinning. Better to not let your gf see your wandering eyes.

Go to hawaii .........

I agree. Go see Hawaii before Kim Jong Il nukes it. Vegas will still be there when you get back. The GF will think Hawaii is more romantic than Vegas unless she likes high tech over lush greenery or has secret fantasies about Wayne Newton.

I'd go to Hawaii in a second over Vegas. Actually, I'd go just about anywhere before Vegas. I've just not gotten into it. Last couple times I went I didn't gamble at all, and I'm not really into the manufactured culture on the strip. And it just doesn't seem like a creative trip.

dude i went to vegas for my 21st birthday which is at the end of July, and it is hot as balls there at that time of the year. if you are planning on cruising the strip, go in the evening, and spend the days in casinos, clubs or in bed with the girlfriend, because those places are air conditioned. outside it is like being on the surface of the sun, even at night it is hotter than hell, but you won't have to deal with the sun.

drink water too.

What a bunch of mamma's boys - man up! A little 118 for a few days will set you flamers straight. This city is 75% air conditioned...20% lagoon pools....and 5% natural (includes the whores)!

PR, come to Vegas - Hawaii is for the old and tamed:

hawaii = see those pretty tropical flowers Mavis?, oooh wooooooow, so that's how pineapple grows - oh, look Kenneth, the waterfalls are beautiful....the hula dancers are sooo sexxxxy!!! OOOOops!, did he just breath fire on me? let's go rent a scooter and drive through the pretty island...look its a surfer a lateral snowboarder.......wow - that was sooo oooo fun.

don't forget sunblock. i love those idiots who hit up the pool all day thinking they are staying cool and the sun isn't doing anything to them, and then they get out of the pool go to the room and are burnt to a crisp.

Everyone should go there at least once....it's general excess is only rivaled by all the junk on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls and the inside of Graceland.

As someone who doesn't gamble much, not a huge fan, but it was okay. But I went in July for my brother's wedding to Queen Evil and it was hideously hot and not just because I had to spend it in hell with that "Woman." We went were at Lake Las Vegas for most of it, I was wearing heels and I could feel the heat from the pavement through my damn shoes, but having said that, better shoes may have helped. As a native Southern Arizonan even I thought Vegas was insanely hot. However, if you are inside during the day you will be fine.

Alright it's on, gonna be at the MGM next Monday :) Thanks for the feedback everybody! About Hawaii, I was actually there last fall, and swore it would be a long, long time before I'm in a plane for that long again, haha. Less than 2 hours flight to Vegas from here, so I can handle that.

Looking forward to my 3 favourite things I can only find in the US: Krispy Kreme, Yoohoo, and Sam Adams on tap! Yeah I'm probably gonna get the beetus.

Also I hope I can find a store selling that new vintage (new vintage?) Broncos hat with the old school little drunk dude riding a horse.

I'll take Maui over Vegas any day. I'd rather lay on the beach or scuba in the pacific than to waste my money in that concrete jungle.

Don't frown on Hawaii because you can't afford the trip.

i went last summer in July and it was 115 the entire time. Absolutely unbearable in the day time, but easy to handle at night. I did come back with a wicked ass cold...might have something to do with the AC/heat...or it might have just been a coincidence. But i'm sure it'll be busy and fun. Though i have to admit hawaii sounds better. Vegas gets tiresome after 2 days

Damn no lie, and not just because of the weather. I take it by tankville you are in one? My Dad was a loader in a Sherman tank in WWII.

Vegas = let's go see the Chippendale's! No? How about Seigfried and Roy? Well, what about staying in the (cough, hack) casinos where we can (choke, ack) lose money? The fake Eiffel Tower is so phallic and the strippers with their fake boobs are sooo sexxxyy!!! OOOops! Did somebody just try to pick my pocket? No, that was just a wino throwing up next to you. Gee, who ever thought of putting slot machines in the toilet?

When I got off the plane in Vegas and the first thing I saw was an enormous billboard for "Menopause - The Musical", I knew this was a city seriously unhinged.

As a matter of fact they do. Everyone outside the state of Texas would refer to them as cattle and/or sheep farms.
