So I'm 51. It's 11:00 pm on my birthday and I am typing on a bulletin board.
I am the oldest college sophomore at the University of North Texas starting my 3rd career ( Mechanic, and salesman prior ) working on my Engeneering degree. Married 3 times with 2 grown children. I have my 77 year old mother with dementia living with us. I get by doing mechanics and odd jobs. I learned 5 months ago I am legally deaf.(not a bad thing as the state is paying for college). My wife thought I was just ignoring her. Quit smoking 6 months ago and getting the full physical on the 25th. Probably have COPD because of it. Pretty sure I am pre-diabetes because of the amount of alcohol I have consumed over the years. Have a nasty degenerative disease eating away at my cartlidge and bone(no discs to speak of left in my lower back) and only 9 teeth left. (to proud to get dentures). The good news is I am still alive and love the Broncos no matter who the coach or quarterback is. In another 12 to 15 years will be sitting in my ugly lawn furniture in the front yard yelling at the neighborhood kids to get off my lawn. There is a birthday party I hope to have very little memory of this saturday and will be nursing a hangover on sunday. Life is good :thanku:

There's a birthday thread floating around here for you somewhere.

I am legally deaf.(not a bad thing as the state is paying for college). My wife thought I was just ignoring her.

Using the old "I'm legally deaf, honey" routine on her, huh? Good one. ;)

The good news is I am still alive and love the Broncos no matter who the coach or quarterback is.

Amen.

Happy birthday.

So, the whole old man telling people to get off his lawn thing...totally made me think Gran Torino somehow...

But for what it's worth, I am in my 30s and there were all these littlle kids back in CO running through my yard and I used to go out and scowl at them until they would go away, so I already hit crazy old lady...Now I just need the cats to complete the picture (except I don't like cats)

Happy Birthday! No matter the age, always beats the alternative.

Yes, you are old. :)

And its time that you started eating right and taking care of your body. Its never too late to make yourself feel better. You'll need to feel better when its time for Physics, Differential Equations, and the multitude of other difficult courses you are going to take while pursuing an E degree at UNT.

I love Denton. Go catch some live music. ;D

You drive from Keller to Denton for school? I did that for a year from Arlington taking grad courses up there and it utterly sucked.

Happy b-day though ya old geezer. :olddude: BTW...I think "bulliten board" is very '90's. ;D

Good luck with the engineering degree! One of the tougher degrees to get IMO. Have a good birthday man!
