Gotta do a write-in here.

As much as I love Sawyer, he's not even the best male character on his own show. That honor belongs to...

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/lostpedia/images/b/b3/Benseason5.jpg

Benjamin Linus.

One of the most devious, cunning, and kickass characters ever to grace television. Easily the best one on today.

Tommy Gavin hands down. Michael Westin is one you left off. He'd be the second best.

Holy hell that was a harder choice than I thought! My initial reaction was to write in for Captain Malcolm Reynolds, but Ari? Barney? Jack Donaghy? What a great age of tv we live in :)

In that case, I say President Bartlett in a landslide.

Though Sam Seaborn, Jack Donaghy and Dr. House are all right up there.

I'd say Dexter, but for me there is a new one.

Vincent D'Onofrio is one of my very favorite actors, movies and TV. He has a long list of excellent movie credits too, starting with Full Metal Jacket, but you hardly know them because he's so deep into the role.

Dr. Cox is no longer on TV.

Did they cancel Scrubs entirely, or did Zach Braff just leave?

Benjamin Linus, Sheldon Cooper and Dexter were all on my list, but the list got too long.

Totally spaced on Jack Bauer though.

Currently on TV:
1. Dexter
2. Barney Stinson
3. House
4. Seely Boothe (just cuz he's smokin and I loved David on Angel and Buffy)
Formerly on TV
1. Hawkeye Pierce
2. Spike
3. Nathan Fillion in everything he's ever done, but Firefly in particular

Pretty sure I am forgetting some really awesome ones, but it is what it is.

I'll go with House instead.

BroncoBuff

How could anybody like Felatio Caine?

Agreed ... biggest drama queen character in the history of TV. I met Caruso once at a cigar bar, kind of a sullen sorta guy, but affable. It was right after he embarrased himself by bailing on Milch and NYPD Blue.

Re: ANIMATED CHARACTERS: Didn't include them, cause I assumed Stewie Griffin would get 9 out of 10 votes ;D

How about Denny Crane?

orangeatheist
06-06-2009, 09:24 AM
Historically speaking, there's no contest.

The three best were two already mentioned (Hawkeye and Cap't Kirk) but the winner hands down is:

Andy Griffith
http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/071112/agriffith_l.jpg

BroncoBuff
06-06-2009, 11:16 AM
How about Denny Crane?

Definitely should've included Denny Craine ... he and Jack Bauer, Sheldon Cooper, Dexter and Benjamin Linus were unfortunate omissions.

But Dimitri and militia: I skipped animated characters because Homer, Peter, Cartman, Beavis and especially Stewie would've overshadowed the whole thing. We should start a "Best Animated Character" poll for those guys and a "Best ALL-TIME Character" poll for guys like Andy Taylor, Steve McGarrett, Tony Soprano, Fox Mulder, Hawkeye Pierce and Greg Brady ;D

We gotta kill this dead time somehow .......
