It's up!

But before I post the link, I want to thank Meck77 for making it happen. It would have never happened without your help, bud, and I look forward to many more in the future. You're a cool guy to party with, and your heart is as big as they come. Thank you.

I landed in Denver at 2:30, and Meck77 (otherwise known as Steve) picked me up at the airport wearing an Eddie McCaffery jersey. We hopped in his truck and headed out to his place where we chilled out and talked about the Broncos and the Orange Mane and then started watching some college ball.

There was an over-inflated football in the room that me, Meck77's buddy, and I started tossing around, when I said, "why don't we take this outside?" It was on! We headed out to the highschool football field right by his house, and I got a first hand lesson in the difference between horsing around at sea level and doing it in the Mile High air.

After almost an hour of throwing the ball around and doing coverage drills, we went back inside to crash and watch more football. All evening long, Meck77 and I talked about some of the antics on the Mane, and how we could turn it into even more than it is... With tailgate paries every weekend, and t-shirt deals... We had about a hundred ideas... But that's another story... It was finally time to start planning for the tailgate we had ahead of us the next day.

We decided to use this as an opportunity to spread the word of the OrangeMane to everyone we could at the game. So we made signs and printed stickers to stick on people so that they would have something to remind them once they got home.

Meck77's buddy, now known here as "Disco Man" showed up and we explained what our plan was for the game. He loved the idea, and it was set... We were out to evangelize about our great online community here, and help it grow.

Game day finally came, and we started to set things up with some help from Meck77's friends...

It was a beautiful day... nice and warm! We started to walk around puttign stickers on folks and telling them about the 'Mane. Everyone we talked to were happy to hear about it, and said they'd check it out. We wondered if we'd run into anyone who was familiar with the site...

...sure enough... We did... While passing out a sticker, we ran into TaiGateNut (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=586) who lurks the site all the time. Happy to see us, he showed us his tailgating scrap book and spun a couple of stories of tailgaters of yesteryear... After handing us a couple of jello shots, and sending me off with a cold one, Meck and I were back on the path to stick people with the righteous message of the Orange Mane.

That's when we ran into the Mile High Jester (http://www.milehighjester.com).

http://www.sigcenter.com/toad/imagegallery/backgrounds/image20.gif

We talked with the Jester a bit about this and that, and invited him to come check out the site, and let him know that I'd link him on the board here. Jester is all about keeping the Mile High Spirit alive, and is as big a fan of the Broncos as anyone I've met.

After we spent our stickers on anyone who would listen (not one person turned us down), we headed back to OrangeMane tailgate central, where things were just starting to pick up.

Folks started dropping in, as we offered them some of the Jamaican Jerk chicken that we had, prepared by the very chef that cooks for Trevor Pryce (let me tell you, Trevor eats well indeed). The chicken was amazingly delicious. Seeing the "Open! Come in" sign, and the "OrangeMane.com Tailgate Party" sign, people wanted to know what was going on.

These Canadian fans dropped in (one of which who has registered as "Canadian Bronco") and we talked Broncos for awhile. They had come the distance to see the Broncos play, and were happy to have a tail gate party to feel welcome at.

More partying...

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0155_jpg.jpg

More meeting new people...

Before we knew it, we had ourselves the best tail gate party in that particular lot:

Jake Meffley (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=1614) dropped in with his better half:

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0135_jpg.jpg

As did Tombstone RJ (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=846):

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0143_jpg.jpg

eeEERaY! and his wife were definitely die hard Broncos fans:

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0144_jpg.jpg

MightySmurf2000 showed up with his pop, but for some reason, the picture that I took of him didn't take like I thought it did... But you can see him here on the left in orange, and his dad is just to the left of him in blue:

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0147_jpg.jpg

More folks dropped in to learn more about the site, talk Broncos, and eat some good grub. The spirit was high as everybody got along like old friends....

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0158_jpg.jpg

Almost game time, and it was time to start packing up as the party started to move toward the stadium... One more photo opp for Meck77, myself, and TombstoneRJ:

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0151_jpg.jpg

It was game time, and the South Stands (along with the entire stadium) were as orange as ever:

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0101_jpg.jpg

I thought this guy had a really cool hat... or something:

I saw this guy lift his camera, and I wanted to try and get a shot of it in case I liked that particular model... or something...

http://www.orangemane.com/scrapbbok/03chiefsgame/images/Picture_0113_jpg.jpg

My little man here was hooking me up with the high fives all game long:

The action in section 102 is superb:

We were happy Broncos fans after the game:

Right on Taco! Excellent pics!

I want to give credit for the food to my good friend "Desmond" who prepared it He is a native Jamaican that can cook jerk chicken like nobody's business. He actually won the Westword newspaper's Award for "Best wings in Denver" . They basically have one of the most prestigious awards for restaurants etc choosen by the people. Heck you guys think the mane is going to serve up some chincy stuff at a tailgate. NO WAY!!!

Actually this week "Desmond" said he himself will bless the mane tailgate and man the grill for the Cleveland game!!

Not sure what the menu will be yet but it will be DAMN GOOD!

See you there!!!!!!! Same place. Same time. Real early. So darn early we might just be cooking up eggs and bacon for you for breakfast;D

*****All MEMBERS ALL WELCOME let me rephrase that.........

*****ALL MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME!!!!!!!!!!!***********

12-09-2003, 01:03 AM
Nah don't be Pezman. Look at the bright side. You see you have all offseason to plan your voyage out here! I'll be here to help you out with anything you need. I have some good connections with tickets etc. I can't guarantee tickets for the entire mane at once but more often than not I can round up quite a few. I also know a great scalper who is a great fan who isn't in the business of ripping people off. Worst case scenario I'm pretty damn good at buying tickets off the street and know where to find the deals.

You see Pezman I was born out here and lived here during John's early years. I went to games then but I had to move. I have since moved back and know what it's like being a fan in a far away city looking for tickets, tailgates, places to stay etc.

Consider me your personal local contact to help you get the full Bronco experience when you can come to town. (That goes for everybody planning on coming next season). I have a helluva lot of fun throwing tailgates and meeting new Bronco Maniacs. That's it! It's that simple.

I was trying to get some sleep on the flight back and just had to stay up and watch the highlights. I was screaming my ass off so much that I didn't even realize that portis scored 5 touchdowns??? Plane ticket prices are preety steep though, my next time out I'm probly gonna take the train.

Or you *could* greyhound it!

Maybe you could check around to see how many others would be willing to make a road trip out of it? I think it would be fun to get a progressive tailgate party going, even if it turns into a caravan!!!

Taco those pics are the shiat! I live in AZ and am definately comin' up to Denver next year for a game. When I went to Mile High for the Fan Fair, that was the most fans I had ever been around. It was great. Denver is a great city and I need to talk my girl into moving out there.

BlueDamsel
12-09-2003, 02:23 AM
Okay, the more I think about that idea that I just posted about (the progressive tailgating party) the more I like it...Imagine this...We get a group coming over from each of the corners & picking up cars of people along the way...I know a whole group of fans from California that want to head out this way, I know fans from the northwest corner that would love to come down for a game, fans from Florida, obviously & other states along the way...get 4 "trains" of cars coming in...and just blast the opposition with true fans! Hmmm...How can we get the ball rolling on this one? I'm, of course, already in Denver, but I can draw up some attention on this once it all gets rolling...

Ratboy
12-09-2003, 02:32 AM
i wanna buy a tailgate bus and paint it Orange and Blue!! maybe if someday i moved to denver i would do it, but i dont see me moving back to a place were winters are cold!!

BlueDamsel
12-09-2003, 02:34 AM
*brr* yes it is cold here...
I've got a similar idea, but it's an even "grander" scheme. I didn't really get to talk to TJ & Meck about it too much this weekend, but I'm trying to figure out a way to get something happening...Don't want the idea to get too far out there and then end up having someone else getting the credit for it...:S

TJ and others, you should make the 2004 game at New Orleans, your road trip game for next year.

If you're going to do another home game next year, there are 4 good ones to get you pumped up.

I went to the San Diego game, beautiful weather, great game. I drove up from New Mexico. Arrived two hours before the game just to soak up the atmosphere. I saw a lot of the tailgate parties in the RV section. Those people looked like they were having a ball, wish I could have joined them but I didn't want to intrude. Maybe next season I could hook up with one of them for a taste of the high life!!Just wishing.

Patriot when you logged in your name to this site you reserved your spot at any tailgate you would like to attend in the future @ Mile High. We will see you next year. I know the feeling of not wanting to intrude on a tailgate. But you see by posting here you will know people when you get to Denver. It's a strange phenomena but when you actually meet the people from the board it's exactly what you expected.

I'd be more than up for this....I love New Orleans, great rockin' city. Saw the Bears/Saints game there this year and met a lot of cool people from Chi-town....seeing the Broncos there would be mint.

I'd like to echo the others on the thread for something set up sitewise for a home game next year...I'd be more than eager to finally get out to Denver and see a game amongst the home fans....as long as some of you young Republicans don't string me up from the nearest tree, that is ;)

C'mon Taco...how about it Man...give us Broncos fans on the outer rim something to plan around!

Taco John
12-09-2003, 09:57 PM
Plan around every game... Meck77 and I have been talking, and we are planning to make this an ongoing thing... We want the OrangeMane there and representing every game... We want a place where fans both in town, and out of town feel like they have a place to go before the game and know people that are there...

I've got some plans brewing in my head right now, and I just need time to get them on paper... It's difficult, because of the long hours that I've been working... But I'll be taking a break during Christmas, and putting them down... The Mane has come a long way, and it's time to take it to the next level...

But the short answer is... YES. The Orange Mane will be representing at home games from here on out.

I just registered tonite - and have to say Sunday's TailGate Party KC @ Denver was the BEST TailGate Party I have ever been too....There were so many people and everyone was buzzin' with Orange and Blue Fever!!! It was great - The OrangeMane website is a great one - thanks for putting it together...I'm glad to be a part of it...

The Pics turned out Awesome!!! I am the one in the T-Davis 30 Jersey in case you are wondering...

How Sweet it is to Beat the "Chefs" and to keep them from putting on the AFC hats on in the Mile High City was even sweeter!

I feel really good about being a WildCard contender - If we continue to play like we did Sunday we will win all the rest of our games - we will be unstoppable!

Gotta Love Our Broncos!!! Whew Hoo!!!!!!!! :Broncos:

GO BRONCOS!!!

I've *always* been camera shy...Unless I'm the one taking the pics/controlling the camera, missy...

And, did I really tell you the whole idea? Hmm...

Again, offer still stands for extra rooms, if people need a place to stay.

Hey fellow fans, I haven't posted for a long time but I cruise through once in a while to see whats up on the Orange mane.
I saw this tailgate thing and I just had to say what a really great idea it is. I'm planning on coming to Denver for the Chiefs game next season. I'll be sure to stop by.
Again, great idea.

Representing the Bronco Nation in New Orleans would be awesome next year.

I own a penthouse down in the warehouse district..a block away from Harrahs, three blocks from the Quarter and walking distance to the Superdome.

I will offer it up as Orangemane Central next year for game weekend.

I personally gaurentee that if this is a road trip for the Mane...everybody would have an epic time that would rival Mardi Gras, the Sugar Bowl or Jazzfest for sheer over-the-top fun.

Last time the Broncos played in Nawlins...Denver fans took over a bar down on Bourbon.....lots of signs, fans and of course, Barrel Man were there for the entire weekend.....hand grenades, hurricanes and monsoons lifted high to watch Mike Anderson have a huge day.

Something to think about...

Wow Orangemane.com Tail Gate Coordinator. I'm truly honored.

(Raising right hand and pledging to the mane that as tailgate coordinator I solemly swear to uphold all duties appointed to me by Taco John leader of the mane. My duties include but not limited to are as follows.

1) First I will help you with any local questions you may have. Directions, hotels, restaurants etc, transportation etc. ( This is a work in process more details to follow)

2) Assistance with tickets. I have some good connections.

3) I will make sure the beer is plentyful and cold when you arrive.

4) The food will be of the utmost quality!
I have some outrageous plans here.

5) The Bronco Colors will be flying @ Mile High each and every game and the music pumping!!

Seriously I'm honored to be on the ground here making the smoke fly in the parking lot for the mane. I've mentioned it a few times but I know what it's like living in other areas of the counrty trying to see a Bronco game and get the full experience.

I've been doing this type of thing for another group of Bronco friends of mine. We call ourselves the Bronco Maniax. It's just a small MSN room but we managed to get over 100 members in about 2 years. I have probably met over 30 of them personally I'm guessing of which many of them have partied at my house. We just asked our Maniax Members to join our sister site the mane to help the party get bigger!!! I welcome my ole Maniax family as they straggle in and look forward to meeting more Orangemane members.

When I approached Taco to come to town just last week the goal was to A. get him to a game and have fun. Secondly, meet him personally and get him on the ground out here spreading the word. We did just.

* The goal is to bring some continuity and spirit back to the fans @ MH*.

THE ULTIMATE GOAL IS AN ORANGEMANE.COM SUPERBOWL TAILGATE SOMEDAY!!!

It seems we have lost a step with the new stadium and I believe that thru the mane that Mile High Magic will continue to grow and get even stronger as fans get to know one another. Not to mention the more out of state Bronco Fans coming to the game the less tickets available to opposing fans!

The Mile High Magic is within each and everyone of you out there in the www. I just want to help you get here and make some ((((((((((( MILE HIGH THUNDER)))))

It would be killer to have a few hundred mane members at any given game raising hell. I think more often than not it's the fans that go to every home game that are complacent and don't cheer as much and maybe even take it for granted.

Anyway I have rambled on enough and have more to say but I will leave it at that.

Taco thanks for the new title and I won't let you or the mane down.

Worm........You and I need to talk sometime. We need more "Orangemane.com Evangelists" in the field for each vistiting city the Broncos will be going to next season. Mighty nice of you to offer up your pad. That would make a sweet home base to organize the tailgate there!

I want the orangemane.com to be represented at every home game period. With fans like you in other cities we could hit all the visiting games as well. It just doesn't have to be a Denver thing. I know many of our members live on the east coast so why not plan a blowout in that neck of the woods. I'll travel!

If we coordinate our efforts and have more fans like worm willing to make it happen we can make it happen.

Thanks Worm!!!!!

LLB glad you stopped on by back again!

WOW,
this is really getting exciting!!

i got goose bumps reading through all the responses, seeing new people, and hearing about future events.

im all in for whatever in future, and would be happy to help in any way i can.

last week was awesome and i look forward to seeing things grow. the hard work of taco and meck is impressive, and anyone who can help should volunteer. it will take more than two people to coordinate all this stuff in the future.

anyway, ill be there again for the final home game and look forward to meeting more of you.

BRONCO FANS UNITE!!!!!!

ps- thanks for all the pic's taco!!
they came out great. and not a big deal, but just to clarify, that was my sister and not my better half. the better half was actually at the park meadows mall spending my money (she knows im vulnerable then!!)

Immitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Its great that Denver fans are figuring out the fun of tailgating. If you really want to see how its done, make that road trip to KC next year.

I think there were probably 20 Donk fans at the Chiefsplanet/37forever tailgate this year....

Iowanian
12-10-2003, 02:13 PM
I wasn't talking smack.....I'm saying that when Denver fans get close to Arrowhead...they haven't seen as much Smoking wood since the Bailey Fire. Chief fans line up for hours before the stadium opens, tens of thousands tailgate.....Hell, Madden says its the best atmosphere every time they come to town. If you don't think you could learn something about Tailgating in KC,.......

I'm sure you had a great time...and I think its a great thing to do.

I hope the Investco Wine and Cheesers follow suit. maybe they won't have to be told to cheer ahead of time next year.

Meck77
12-10-2003, 02:14 PM
Immitation? Now that's funny. Have you ever been to a KC Superbowl Tailgate party? Didn't think so. I've been to a Broncos Superbowl tailgate party. You guys just keep smokin your pigs at arrowhead. That's all you'll ever have.

BTW the performance of your cheif team made the after party as much fun as the tailgate itself.

If the chiefsplanet is where the party is at why are you here Iowanian? You are contradicting yourself. Think before you post.

Meck77
12-10-2003, 02:22 PM
I was editing my post when you posted. Look man. You say you aren't talking smak but I gotta tell you the Chiefs didn't invent tailgating. I will admit that tailgating @ arrowhead appears to be a party. You see when you haven't won a superbowl in several decades the anticipation of just a home victory must be out of this world. Bronco fans have tasted their success and many of the old school fans that have been going since the 60's and 70's are content. It's the newer generation that is still hungry for more superbowls.

If the chiefs won a superbowl this season which won't happen you would understand what I'm talking about. Until then you have your party and we will have ours!

I understand you are just bitter from last week. It's all good.

I would love this.....please keep me posted on it.

When is the Broncos/Saints game anyway?

I'll also keep the Meck in mind as well....having never been to Denver...I would probably need assistance with the area if I decide to turn up for a home game instead (I don't think I could do both).

Hogan,

The opponents and where the games are going to be played are the only things known now.

The actual dates will be worked out during the offseason.

Expect a April 2004 schedule release. Then Nawlins can be planned.

but we should make tight plans because many peoples road trips budgets will be thing afetr spending 4 days in Canton.

Save up peeps.

Next time I'm at a game, I will be skipping the; sushi/stumble across the street to bus/ride to game and join in the Mane Hardcore Fun For All Tailgate From Hell With Heavenly Food Fantabulous Fan Party. I'd be crazy to miss it.

Keep up the great work folks. The N'awlins thing is looking pretty neato.

Last regular season game for this season, but INSUCKO FIELD WILL BE BACK!. Sadly, its all I know, I didn't make enough money to go to Denver till after they tore down mile high. (a little tear) The new stadium is nice, I had a great time, but I feel like I missed a chapter of my life....

I copied this snippet on the game from the Kansas City Star. I think it provokes an hilarious image. Its my sig at Chief's Planet, but nobody over there sees humor in it:

KC Star: "The Chiefs defense looked utterly bewildered. The players ran the wrong way. There were times when they looked like those little men in electric football shuffling around mindlessly, running in circles, falling down for no apparent reason."

thats REALLY funny. im sure some over there dont appreciate it much but i got a kick out of it. i remember being SOO excited in '78 because for christmas i got that game and since they came with the previous years sb teams, i got the broncos and dallas. ahhhh, the memories. it just occured to me how completely LAME my son or other junior high/ high school kids would find that game, but since the only video game we had was pong we thought that football game was the $hit!!!

Famed Kansas City architect Dwayne Butts has locked himself in his swank upscale penthouse and refuses to have any contact with the outside word as a result of the devastating ass whoopin put upon his beloved Chiefs by the Denver Broncos last Sunday.
Butts is noted as a poineer in highrise design in the K.C. district as well for his inovative use of scrap lumber and cardbord.
Here is a photo shot of his latest creation a coversion of one of K.C.'s most beloved landmarks the old Gummy's Road Kill Diner into a multi family condo.
