Current shows...hmmm...it's tough, i've been watching quite a few this year

I highly recommend:

Lost (thought the season was very solid and I loved the time-travel stuff)

Friday Night Lights (Season 3 was ridiculously good)

Southland (very underrated show; HBO quality story and character development on a major network)

Thought these were good:

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronic. (sometimes retarded in pacing, but really really picked up towards the end of the season)

Castle (above average detective show, follows in the footsteps of Life and Bones [although I don't actually watch Bones] by focusing on the characters and their development; at the end of the day still just a "one and done show" that wraps up a case every episode)

Office, The (can't really say anything that anyone hasn't already...it's still solid)

Dollhouse (A show that really picked up as the season wore on, but still not up to snuff with other Whedon material)

I don't know how I feel about that show just yet.... except that I watched every single episode. Sometimes its great... other times its contrived agenda. 6 feet under jumped the shark IMO with the same stuff..

Hmmm, i didnt find tara nearly as melodramatic (though i was a fan of 6 feet till the end). i think all of the tara characters and lively in unique (and by characters, i dont mean her personalities, i mean the actual sub characters

I've never watched it but I'm thinking you my not have given it much of a chance or perhaps you saw one of its lesser arcs. Some publications and journalists whose opinions I tend to agree with have a lot of good things to say about it.

Those are in no order, but this time last year I definitely had Battlestar Galactica as #1. Unfortunately, that is done and over with but perhaps Caprica will be as good when it comes out.

I've heard a lot about Mad Men, I'll have to netflix that.

1. Lost - began watching it this year. I would be up late on Saturday nights working while the replays of season one came on after SNL. I got hooked and cought up by renting and catching episodes online. This show is addictive like none I have seen. Once youre hooked, youre hooked. I love the nature of the show...its all about exploring things that you dont know about...plots that are slowly coming together. The makeup and effects are almost silly at times. Bad wigs, bad makeup, etc. The funniest part of the show to me is watching "LeFleur" (hilarious in itself that the character Sawyer must have thought of and liked the name "LaFleur"...it doesnt fit the guy at all) and friends ride around in a town full of hippies looking for action in a VW Bus! I laugh every time they get in that thing.

2. Survivorman - is there an outdoorsy dude that doesnt love this show?

3. Flight of the Conchords - sharp, subtle music industry-oriented wit. I lauged uncontrollably when I saw this the first time like I did the first time I heard Ween's "the Pod."

4. The Office - Brilliant everyday humor.

5. ....I dont watch alot of TV.
