was at a friends house playing in a 1-2 game. We had 11 people playing...ya I know, dont get me started on that. Anyway, 3 hours in, I was up about 150 bucks. Look down at 2 red aces. I put in a min raise sitting under the gun, I get reraised by the player 3 hands(Donk chip leader) after me to 10. Everybody folds, comes back around to me, I raise again to 50. The guy says all in, instantly I call and open up my aces. He yells F*** at the top of his lungs and I thought I had him beat putting him on Kings. He opened up 2 black Aces. I was pretty bummed to chop it. Could've totally doubled up through him when the pot was damn near a grand.

What are the chances of Pocket AA's for 2 players in the same hand? I wonder... I know 11 handed the odds are pretty low, sure was crazy. Never seen/been a part of something like that before.

WARNING: Geek Math Ahead

There are 1,326 possible starting hand combinations.

There are 6 possible comination of aces (AcAs, AcAh, AcAd, AsAh, AsAd, AdAh)

So, the odds of you being dealt AA any given hand is 1,326/6 or 1 in every 221 hands)

Since there are 11 people at your table, the odds of someone being dealt AA on any given hand is 1,326/6/11 or 1 in every 20 hands.

If somone has aces, then that means there is only 1 possible combination of aces left (if someone has AcAs, then only the single combo of AdAh could be dealt)

That would be 1,325/1/10 of someone else being dealt AA, or 1 in every 132.5 hands.

So, if you look down and see AA, the odds that someone else will have AA is 1 in 132.5.

If you didn't look at your cards, and want to know the odds of any 2 players being dealt AA on any given hand w/ 11 players it would be (1,326/6/11) * (1,325/1/10), or 1 in every 2,662 hands.

Not really thaaaat astronomical.

Personally, I would have just called out CHOP before dealer dealt. Someone at the Commerce lost same hand when he asked for chop and other guy wanted it played out. Good that he did because he hit a flush.

story is only good if kk won. Actually, did the KK have a chance to fold seeing that someone might have him beat?

Well, I was 4 tabling so I missed the pre-flop action, but those 3 got it in somehow along with 44 (awesome). Flop came 2-3-5, bringing hope for a suckout, but AAs ended up chopping it.
