New Orleans is a Super Bowl city again.

NFL owners voted Tuesday to play the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans, the first time the championship game will be played there since Hurricane Katrina shredded parts of the Louisiana Superdome. The hurricane caused 1,600 deaths and devastated the Gulf Coast four years ago.

New Orleans beat out Miami which sought a record 11th Super Bowl and 2008 host Glendale, Ariz., for the game. This is the 10th time New Orleans will be the site for the Super Bowl.

Awarding a SuperBowl is now being used as a perk and incentive.

Build a new stadium or make a significant financial investment in an NFL facility and get a SB (provided you have a dome or are a warm weather city).

The SB host city needs to have several things - the ability to put on a huge event, warm enough weather in February where it is fine to be outside, and something else interesting to do.

New Orleans, San Diego, and Miami are simply the best places for it. It should rotate between those three. New Orleans especially is set up for BIG events like this - lots of downtown hotels within walking distance of clubs/bars/ and a downtown casino.

On a personal note, this is huge for my business. We have the BCS Championship, Final 4, and Superbowl in consecutive years. We are also bidding to get the NBA all star game back soon.

New Orleans is about the port and tourism, there is little other industry present. We have to have these events to survive. We are a party town, so that is where you should have parties.

That's great for New Orleans, hopefully it helps getting back on track.

The reasoning is sound but I can still get sick of it.
