I did a breakdown of the current 89 man roster listed on denverbroncos.com.

Notable results:

Top 3:
20 hail from the SEC.
11 from Big Ten.
10 from Big 12.

6 players alone from Florida, which is more than any other school (Notre Dame and Georgia are 2nd with 4). Only 5 differences have provided 6 or more current Broncos: SEC, Big ten, Big 12, ACC and Pac 10.

Southwestern Athletic is the non Bowl division we have the most current Broncos from: 3.

We have 4 from independent schools (all from Notre Dame).

We have 3 players from schools that are not in the Bowl or Championship subdivisions.

The only Bowl division we have no players from is Sun-belt. We also have no ivy-leaguers (Championship div.).

We have players from 8 different Big Ten, SEC and ACC schools, but only 7 different Big 12 schools. We have players from more different schools in the WAC (5) than the Pac-10 (4).

And that is why the Pac-10 sucks. ;)

I remember an article posted in here about the scouting department and how the team was heavily focused on the southeastern part of the country, which is reflected in your figures. One of the unasked questions in here is whether the current scouts will be retained now that we have new people in charge of that area. I would suspect not...at least not in entirety...which leads one to wonder if there will be a new trend in the future. I like the emphasis on the SEC but I got the feeling under Shanny that we got tunnel vision sometimes.

Well, our SouthEast regional scout was called Goodman so he was let go a few months ago. Hopefully they managed to rearrange the department internally to make up for that loss and with the recent scouting additions we should be back in business.

They should rename the Pac-10 the USC and 9 other schools division.

Kahn,
last time I checked, we were not very good last year.
