Interesting.

We should start a pool: How many games before he comes out from behind the bench and onto the ice?

I think this would be great, I like Tony but I just don't think he is a good head coach. Getting the jackass GM out of there was more important, hope Billington gets that spot.

Could be a great boost. Oh and thanks for letting Coach Q take the blame last year morons, he seems to be doing ok this year.

I've always though Granato was a good motivator, but a horrible front office guy. Am I right?

that is kind of how I saw it also, I would love to keep him as an assistant, I think he does better there

until they fix the roster, it won't matter who they get to stand behind the bench.

Tony has nothing to do with the front office

As an official Avs hater, I would welcome St. Patty as coach of the team. It'd ensure another 5 years of marginal hockey.

The Avs have become nearly irrelevant in town, this could spark some interest but if he struggles - how will the home crowd handle firing a legend?

I have heard it's a done deal but hasn't gone public yet.

Avalanche have bigger problems than finding a HC. They have cap problems and there's no new talent coming up. They better hurry up and get a GM in there before the draft, otherwise it's going to be longer than 5 years of marginal hockey...

Roy denied the report. And as someone already said, it is the roster. NHL coaches couldn't be less important than in any other major sport IMO. The basically find the best line pairings, but if you don't have talent it doesn't matter.

Maybe the classless Avs could fire their current coach before offering the job to wah.

They need to give Granato the boot. He convinced Darcy Tucker to sign here, that says enough about his talent evaluation.

Roy is doomed to fail unless they bring in a creative GM. Personally, my preference would be for the Avs hire Dave McNab as the new GM and make Kevin Dineen the new HC, and finally get rid of Jacques Cloutier. It wont happen because they aren't apart of Lacroix's "old boys club." Unfortunately, until PL finally steps down for good, the vicious cycle will continue.
