The full Senate voted Tuesday to strip Specter of his seniority, dropping him to the bottom of the pile on every committee he sits on.
"Sen. [Harry] Reid said that I would maintain my committee assignments and that my seniority would be established as if I'd been elected in 1980 as a Democrat," the long-serving Pennsylvania senator told CNN's Dana Bash.
Too funny. IMO the traitor got what he deserved. Going independent like Lieberman did IMO is ok, but switching parties to change the balance, to gain help in next election, is B.S.
Now that Spector is a nothing that means no committee chairs. He loses his spot on the appropriations committe that he was using to tout why people should vote for him again. He says by chairing that committee it means money for his State. Well no more committee, pretty much ever. He's last in line now. The Dems have not accepted him and now he is screwed.
I love it he got what he deserved friggin Benidict Arnold.

Hopefully he gets defeated next election and is out of Congress. I've wanted that for many years. Of course he's not the only one. Too many old farts in Congress who have not earned their keep for years.

You know, barryr, I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with you. I'll mark it on my calendar. :-)

I find this politician's sense of entitlement to be something of a canary in the coal mine. It betrays the rot of the institution.

I think it's funny how upset Spector is. LOL his little plan is falling apart. Dems don't want him anymore then the republicans do.

I haven't followed it the past couple days, but isn't the plan that if Spector gets re-elected in 2010 he'll have his senority back then? I thought I heard this was just until the election. Either way, I'm pretty indifferent on the subject as of now.

Spector has a years of enemies but do not underestimate the support of a popular President. It should be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Hmm I don't know. I just thought it funny many democrats don't like him and things obviously not like he thought.

Thank you. By the way, saw your location and originally from WA state, but also as a kid I used to live in Klamath Falls and Monmouth in Oregon.

In an age of entitlement I am sure, even if this is temporary, is very hurtful to Spector. I don't know if he should or will get his power back but I have a feeling he want to consider getting out of politics at this point.
