Why is that funny? ??? Fortunately, everyone is accounted for.

BroncoBuff

I just think it's funny because Jerry Jones is such an egomaniac, and that new stadium is a Bacchanalian excess .... of course I hope nobody was hurt in any way. I hope that goes without saying ::)

I heard on the radio at least one coach was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
Early reports said the players were all accounted for.
Yeah, Jones is a tool, but it's the team and coaches who were at risk.

Just say: "I thought it was funny that roof fell in, but I didn't want anyone hurt, and since no one was injured or killed it's funny"

And this is the eye roll in between those two: Uhh

I am sorry to hear about the coach (obviously) ... I guess I just remembered the Broncos first bubble ... I worked there in 1984 when Reeves bought it, and the material is very thin ... I suppose like a slightly thicker canvas than that canvas painters paint on. It has to be light for the air pressure in the bubble to inflate it.

I'm sorry that you guys thought I would laugh at anybody's injuries. Can't believe you thought that though.

It didn't occur to me that you were laughing at injuries, I was curious as to why it was funny as it didn't seem so to me. ;D

The Broncos new bubble collapsed like three times in '84, and we thought it was pretty funny, we ran over from the 58th street offices to watch it deflate, even Joe Ellis was laughing/embarrassed ... I dunno.

I suppose if you like Jerry Jones and his ego, fine. But anything that embarasses him strikes me as funny.

Its all over the news right now...4 staff people were injured, apparently none seriously.

I'll tell you this...this was NASTY. I came through Dallas 2 hours ago and the road basically just dissapeared right in front of me on I-35 South. I've driven in white out blizzard conditions but this was unreal...a downpour that I couldn't see through at all. The only reason I didn't run off the road is because I could make out tail lights. Had I been able to see where the road was I'd have got of it to wait it out.

Buff,

If Denver's bubble collapsed 3 times, and I assume other bubbles have also collapsed, then how is it embarrassing to Jones if his bubble collapses?

I dont like Jones, but I dont see what was so funny about the incident.

Then again, you like that stupid dumbass Colbert so your taste for what is funny is pretty nil anyway.

I'd be on board with an earthquake opening up a giant hole and swallowing this billion dollar doondogle stadium over here. You can't go anywhere around here now because every dang street is closed off and a lot of those that aren't are one lane only. It took 25 minutes to get my kids the other day when it should have taken 5...plus anytime the Rangers play they actually baricade streets...which gums it up even worse.

Video production crew. Up in the rafters. Rookies all safe. The person with the neck Injury has feeling in extremities. Stupid for coaches not to have called practice as they had half hour notice storms were severe or were developing and picking up strength. By the way this is all part of the old facilities, nothing to do with the new stadium.

I for one am just kidding. Hopefully everyone get's better and gets a ton of money out of it. Unsafe working conditions to say the least.

It's one thing to make some raunchy jokes, but IMO, almost all of the people on the board are the type that would throw in and help out if they saw something like this. I like to help people, but I like jokes that are in poor taste also.

It's not a big deal people should stop making mountains out of molehills.

Whole friggin board just way to much of a bummer right now. Posting on the Mane about having a good time. It gets in poor taste sometimes but we have to be so politically correct all the time maybe its a good thing to blow some steam off online by making fun of using dead babies stem cells to build you the perfect woman.

It's not like we wished for it. My earliest memory of a cowboy fan was this kid I went to grade school with. When Broncos lost to Cowgirls in Superbowl I had to hear about all the way to 8th grade.

I heard he moved to Kansas and got his arm mangled in a tractor accident. Stupid cowboy fan never did know when to duck.

This situation is obviously not just a bubble losing aiir pressure and deflating on top of players, as I first thought (that is like a hot air balloon oozing air as it deflates), this was far more serious, that thing was torn asunder by a storm.

what about threads where people want a man to lose his job. Mcdaniels has a family to feed ya know? I mean wishing another man would lose his job seems pretty tasteless also if you strip away the football.

It's not really funny. IMO it's just not ironic enough to be funny. Now if it collapsed because they were doing something stupid, moronic, trying to hoist a big statue of Jerry on to the top, that would be funny.

But just some dudes hanging around taking pictures, and then a roof falls on them, not really funny. Also anyone who thinks Broncobuff really thinks its funny when people get injured is just jumping to conclusions. Don't go thinking you know people based on there posts on the mane.

I hope that's some stone-cold deadpan humor, otherwise I'd have to say you're the one who might need help. I obviously misunderstood the gravity of what occurred when the story first broke ... at first, CNN treated it as novelty, too. It was more of a weather story. And, based on my own humorous experiences in near-identical circumstances, I thought it was funny at first.

You think I should be in jail? Call a cop ... downtown Seattle, Warterfront Precinct ... hop to it.

When a building collapses and you know a lot of people are in there and you think it's funny, that has nothing to do with 'political correctness.' It's just wrong

But I agree with the poster who mentions those who know there have been injuries yet still think it's funny........they should be ashamed.
Quoting your dislike for Jerry Jones or the Cowboys doesn't justify laughing at the tragedy.

Okay so when Leno and Letterman did it after some extreme tragedy the laughs they got were down right shameful. Lighten up people thats all I'm saying.

If you had a family member in that building with a broken back, is it still funny??

I doubt it.

Why is it every time I start having fun during late night the thread goes to the butt??
Any way TO it was almost fun.

Maybe it has to do with YOUR posts. Pretty ridiculous that this thread winds up in the butt, but then again, it is pretty friggin stupid that some people think God has put people in the hospital because he/she/it doesn't like the Cowboys.

Disgusting.

Brit, there have been jokes about world war II, OJ simpson, the Titanic, if you think this even comes close I think you may have lost perspective. Oh well, the Mane has gotten to the point of just waiting to argue about anything so I suppose this is just the thread to choose sides on for the day. I think Cutler was a crybaby, Mcd. is an egomaniac and Bowlen may be lossing his Mind. But I rooted for the Broncos before any of them and I will continue until the day I die. Has nothing to do with the thread but isnt this what started all the arguements in the first place?

He had movement in all extremities and while that is still not good between the money he will get out of Jones and the fact it could of been much worse I don't see a problem with the humor. I lived in s. florida when the challenger blew-up and you should of heard some of the sick jokes about that.
People have become so politically correct its not okay to discipline kids or execute murderers. Everybodys a victim now days.

I have been there buddy. It is truly amazing how much having kids lowers your opinion of psychology and standard "expert" advice. My kids refuse to behave like statistics.

Can't find the post you quoted. Guess it was deleted. Any way its amazing how people who have never raised a child, read or study about children and believe they know more than people who have done the job. I'd have had to delete half of the thread to get all of the "unseemly" posts. Skunk alone has 10 posts and most any one of them would have qualified as valid reason for moving the thread to the Butt.

The discussion can continue here; it just isn't front-and-center where it's the first thing anyone sees.

The one at Dove Valley basically did the same thing just a few years ago. From what I recall it wasn't nearly as violent and I don't think it all came down at once but it did collapse.

I agree that pretty much everything is fair game where humor is concerned.
I'm as guilty as the next and wouldn't have it any other way.
But, finding a tragedy funny while it's underway is where the line should get drawn.
Do we crack jokes about victims as they are pulled from car wrecks or buildings or laugh at earthquake victims as they are pulled from the rubble?
Personally, I don't.

Just like comedy itself, it's all about timing.

You just don't get it ... it wasn't a "tragedy" when I started this thread. Of COURSE I find no tragedy "funny."

That you insist on pushing this flawed conclusion is your own weakness, not ours.

Early in this thread I posted this comment to you:

It didn't occur to me that you were laughing at injuries, I was curious as to why it was funny as it didn't seem so to me.

http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showpost.php?p=2406374&postcount=11

My last comment, to which you refer, was to those people who knowing there were injuries, still found it funny.
But was also directly addressed at the concept that humor is found in tragedies,(Bronco610's comments) to which I agree. But not during the event.

As for your not knowing that there were injuries, you posted a follow up comment (now removed) that the players were practicing inside the building when the collapse happened. So you understood that people were at risk.
I'm curious, why did you remove that post?

Buff, I'm not the one who started this thread with a 'hahahaha' and I understand why you might feel embarrassed.
But again, it didn't occur to me that you were laughing at injuries.

I work right in that mess too. I HATE the new stadium getting built there, it is a royal PITA! I am literally 1/4 mile from hiway 30, and it takes me 20 minutes to get on the hiway with all the ramps closed and diverted traffic.

Only good thing is when Dallas does host the Super Bowl, boss said we will most likely work from home that entire week so we do not have to deal with the traffic/headaches over there. Monday night games too.

Believing it, or just being idiots, posts like the following are wrong when people are seriously injured:

Where can i sign up and be a Mod. :)

Being a mod is not all fun and games. Most of the time there's nothing much to moderate but when there is....

A problem post is made. Now a mod has options... if you edit or delete a post, some will complain. If you move a thread, some will complain. If you do nothing at all and just leave it be, some will complain. (see the commonality between the results of any move you could possibly make or not make?) Some will complain no matter what. If I had a dollar for every time Popps has complained about an OrangeMane moderator (just as an example and because there's one of those posts right here on this thread), I'd have enough to easily make my mortgage payment this month. :P

And Popps.... I wasn't readily available yesterday evening because it was Saturday night and believe it or not, I do have a life ouside of the OrangeMane. My husband and I were supporting our local American Legion Post and enjoyed a tasty steak dinner. I think that's still allowed even if I am a mod here. :) Anyway, once I got home and checked my email and found the "report this post to a moderator" messages, I dealt with this thread...and a spambot... as quickly as possible.

For the record, I think that if there was a tornado warning issued, someone should have made sure that no one was in that practice bubble and that everyone was in a safe place until the danger had passed.

Wow the Mods edit and move the thread just to save Buff's face. Why not just delete the damn thing.

Leasson learned here is this: Even if it happened to the Raiders you don't make jokes until you are sure no one is hurt.

Clearly it was an attempt by Buff to garner more cred with a funny tag-line and joke'n about the roof falling in, but as we all now see, it's better to wait to be cute and funny. Becuase when we jump for the yuks we loot like assholes ans spend the remainder of the thread trying to not be an asshole.

Well, it did get worse, for one person/family especially.

Dallasnews.com story (http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/05/cowboys-scouting-assistant-paralyzed.html)

Cowboys' scouting assistant paralyzed

The Cowboys issued a release moments ago updating the status of three people that were taken to the hospital after their indoor practice facility collapsed.

Rich Behm, a scouting assistant, sustained a fracture to the thoracic spine that caused a severing of his spinal cord and permanent paralysis from the waist down. He underwent surgery Saturday night and remains at Parkland Hospital in stable condition.

Behm moved from the team's video department to scouting a few years ago and worked closely with Chris Hall, the team's college scouting coordinator, and director of college and pro scouting Tom Ciskowski.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones and coach Wade Phillips spent a large part of Saturday night/Sunday morning with the Behm family. More coaches and players visited the hospital today.

"To the Behm family we extend our love, comfort, and the full support of every person and resource within the organization," Jones said in a statement released by the team." Rich is a courageous member of our family and someone for whom we care deeply. We ask for all friends and fans of the Dallas Cowboys to join us in embracing him and his family with their thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time."

The release also stated special teams coach Joe DeCamillis will undergo surgery Monday for a fracture of one of his cervical vertebrae. He is in stable condition without paralysis at Parkland Hospital.

Assistant athletic trainer Greg Gaither had surgery Saturday to repair a fracture of his right tibia and fibula at Baylor University Medical Center. He should be released later this week.

Here is the rest of Jones' statement: "As we share concern for everyone who was touched by this accident, we also extend our heartfelt and best wishes to Coach Joe DeCamillis and his family as they prepare for Joe's surgery tomorrow.

"We are grateful that Greg Gaither's surgery was successful, and we feel blessed that others involved were able to walk away from this accident after receiving medical attention yesterday afternoon.

"The Dallas Cowboys organization would like to express its deepest appreciation to the City of Irving's Fire, Police and medical emergency teams that collectively responded to the accident in the most timely and thorough manner yesterday. We are also grateful to those Cowboys players and staff members who acted so quickly and heroically in the face of personal danger to help those around them who were in need of immediate assistance."

Ya I feel bad now. When the story started I don't think Buff knew people were hurt. I made some jokes and I know I thought from reading it there were only some minor injuries.

No one on the board really wants to see people get injured.....Except for maybe Skunk. He sent me a PM saying he hopes the whole world dies.

Skunk's posts in this thread weren't offensive enough?

Holy crap, back during the beginning of the Cutler mess, I was banned for 22 days just for telling SoCal to get Cutlers you know what out of his mouth after one of his classic McD rants, while I sat back and watched many, many more people say the same thing to SoCal and other people and nothing happen to them.

So mods, what exactly is the rule where you guys actually start banning people? It doesn't seem like it's in what they say, but more of who they say it to. Just curious.
