Jets move up to take Shon Greene.

Rams take a CB (Bradley Fletcher) with a Scouts Inc rating of 32.

Already tired of hearing the Cowboys War Room hype. Puke.

Chiefs grab Alex Magee...6'2" 298 DT

He's not Irish.

Cowboys take Jason Williams, PG Miami Heat.

Wow, the Cowboys got Jason Williams??? OUTSTANDING PICK! This kid is a phenomenal athlete with very good football instincts. If anybody in this draft reminds me of Adalius Thomas it is Williams and Sidbury! Too bad we don't have our 3rds now. Sidbury and Stephen McGee would look pretty good here!

Oakland takes Matt Shaughnessy - I've got him as a late 5th rounder. Not a bad player, but again, WAY too early!

Sleeper

Alex McGee, 6-3, 298, Purdue: McGee is a consummate team player who played on both sides of the line, and at inside and out positions in college.

Wasn´t Michael Johnson supposed to be a first rounder?

His production didn't match his triangle numbers. Personally I think he'll be a player if he can be self motivated.

The Raiders 3rd round selection was more productive in one year of college than Robert Ayers was during his entire collegiate career!

BowlenBall

Jacksonville just took Terrance Knighton and Derek Cox. I wonder if somebody turned their draft board upside down....?

Broncoman13
04-26-2009, 07:55 AM
Anybody listen to Richard Quinn's conference call? He thought he was going to be an undrafted Free Agent when the process started. He worked hard, did well in the combine and improved his stock. He had heard the 3rd or 4th round when the draft started. "Shocked" but extremely happy to be a 2nd rounder. I think he's going to be okay. He should be a hard worker and do the extra things.

BowlenBall
04-26-2009, 07:56 AM
WOW -- the last 5-6 picks have been all over the board (I'm looking at top 250 rankings from 6 different web sites).

Clearly, there's been a drop-off in overall talent from the end of the 2nd round, and now there's a big, flat tier of 100 or so prospects that teams are choosing from, depending on need.

Maybe that's why we jumped up to get Quinn?

Quinn is an early-entry junior, right? Why would he come out if he thought he would be a UDFA?

Get both Taylor and Scott in the 4th.

I'll gladly take Brinkley, too. And I'd be awfully tempted to go get Louis Murphy even though we don't need another WR, just because he's really high quality and would be a huge steal (esp with a possible Marshall suspension).

Remember, we signed David Anderson to an offer sheet that Houston matched (and this was after signing Gaffney), so my guess is McKinnley fits into whatever role McDaniels had in mind for Anderson. McKinnley a pretty solid player for this area of the draft.

Position:
C
Class:
Senior
School:
TCU
Conference:
Mountain West
Ht., Wt.:
6-2.5, 283

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter awarded all-Conference honors since his sophomore campaign.

POSITIVES: Intelligent lineman best in pass protection. Sets with a wide base, blocks with good lean, and displays footwork in space. Keeps his feet moving, effective with his hands, and a good position blocker who seals defenders from the action. Smart, keeps his head on a swivel, and works well with teammates. Shows ability in motion, and displays outstanding blocking vision.

NEGATIVES: Overextends or reaches into blocks, which adversely affects his balance. Not a large or dominant blocker who opens holes in the middle of the field.

ANALYSIS: Schlueter has been a very productive college center, and he offers possibilities as a backup lineman in a zone-blocking system.

PROJECTION: Free Agent

Just talked to a buddy of mine, guy that does PBP for TCU. Schlueter has been described as "the next Jeff Saturday".

Yes, I've read that as well...

03/06/09 - TCU pro day: He entered college as a 236-pound (with his clothes wet) freshman. He left a well-chiseled 290-pound NFL prospect. And now TCU center Blake Schlueter, who was not invited to last month’s scouting combine, might just have gotten himself into the latter rounds of April’s NFL draft with a pro-day workout on Friday morning that really opened some eyes. The 40 scouts from all 32 teams came to see a pair of combine-invites, linebacker Jason Phillips and strong safety Stephen Hodge. They left talking about Schlueter. Schlueter (6-2 3/8, 290 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds, had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-3-inch long jump, a 4.28-second short shuttle, and a 7.42-second three-cone drill. He reminds me of Colts center Jeff Saturday when Saturday came out of North Carolina. Same body build, although Schlueter is a little faster. A pure athlete, everything you want out of a center … except maybe size. I don’t know if a 290-pound guy can play center in the NFL, but he was 236 when he came to TCU and still has room to grow. Probably moved into the seventh round with his performance on Friday. The guy’s a football player. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com
