I get some of you saying I'm stupid for not wanting him, but what happens when 32 other teams don't want him in the first round. Are they stupid too? Don't they realize he's "totally awesome!" and "will immediately make any team awesome on defense!"?

Maybe he really isn't that hot upstairs and maybe taking a two down linebacker in the first round really isn't so smart.

Haha this is great. The only bad thing is he might be there at 42 and McFag might be dumb enough to take him there on "value".

Dude, how many times do you need to be corrected that they don't pick at #42?

Are you serious?

We gave up a first next year for a wannabe Darrent Williams?

This guy keeps getting worse and worse.

I was so scared we were going to take Rey when we traded up. I would have prefered Brace, but Alphonso Smith is going to be sick.

And I want someone to write down everything McDrama says so we can see him hide when it bites him in the ass. Say what you will but the players we've taken are solid, tough and smart guys.

What about the 2010 1st we burned? Was it worth it to add to the back four when the front is the most important part of the 3-4?

so far i am happy with our draft. finally got a good RB, Ayers has the ability to be a huge pickup for us, and I like Alphonso Smith. so far i am happy.

hopefully we grab Gilbert in the next few minutes

I'm not going to defend that. I don't agree with giving up picks in a better draft for picks in a crappy one. However, the player we took was good. I would have liked to take Ron Brace there. But yes, that was too much and will hurt us.

I still maintain Alphonso Smith is a good player and a good selection.

I think the fact that Rey dropped and was eventually picked by a team which happens to have a former USC LB on it may be telling. Apparently Rivers was one of the players who roomed with Rey to 'keep him in line' according to some reports I heard. Maybe Rivers has signed on to help him adjust to the NFL and the effects of $$$.

I thought it was funny he went to the one team that doesn't mind drafting players who have the IQ of a carrot.

And just maybe he was as 'good' as he was at SoCal with two other first round LB on either side of him Sure he can hit, but can he cover???

I'm very glad we took Ayers over him.

The more I think of this crap, the more I see an unfolding overall eakening of the organization.

Bowlen was spitefull and acted impulsively.

Shanahan will ride out his 15 million and Jay will get his extension soon, and Denver will be mired in a lifeboat.

That's a fair question So Cal but from what McD said in his presser was that in their opinion a first next year isn't the same value as a first this year, obviously.

They had Smith graded strongly as a solid first round corner, so in effect we did get three first round picks, and he may turn out to justify it entirely. Have you seen this kid tackle and cover?

I was kind of hoping /thinking we might use one of those next year first rounders this year as well to get things moving ASAP, but didn't figure it would be for a second plus more picks.

The thing is too I watched some of Alphonso and read quite a lot on the kid and he really seems to be the real deal even for his size. I'll be surprised if he isn't the starting nickle this year and will have another year with Champ and Goodman as mentors.

Possibly it turns out to be too high a price to pay , but perhaps not. I like that McD isn't planning on our team's next years first rounder being too high up to make the price paid a bit too steep.

Time will tell if the price was a bit steep or not, but in any event I think we got a top caliber playmaking corner return guy that will make our D better this year as well.

Plus, McD had said earlier when talking about loading up the secondary in FA that many of the long runs last year against us were the result of poor tackling from the secondary.

Aint that the ****ing truth. Would have killed for somebody able to tackle in the open field. I forgot the stat but some retardedly high % of the rushing yards we gave up came on some 10% of the total rushing plays. RB would get through the line and then there was just nothing. It was like the Germans going through Poland.

Way to straddle the fence. And it was actually 31 other teams that didn't want him, not 32.

To baja and you other douchebags; you know what's getting tiring? All of you refusing to acknowledge dumb moves, even when it happens right in front of you. I can't imagine how strong that kool-aid is you're drinking, must be satisifing.

I have to eat crow I thought no way he falls out of first round. When Broncos moved up in 2nd I thought for sure it had to be for him. Some other poster predicted Rey Rey falls and I offered to bet 1000 he wouldn't, glad he didn't take that bet, whew.

I still think Rey Rey will show how physical he is and will be a good middle linebacker.
