Dream big but try to keep each component a reasonable drive to the realm of possibility. I'll start...

B.J. Raji falls to 8. We trade 12 and 84 to Jacksonville and take him.

Tyson Jackson is there at 14. We screw the Chargers by sending the Saints (Will Allen and Charles Grant are facing suspension due to Starcaps) 18, Jarvis Moss and Tim Crowder. New Orleans tosses in a late-round 2010 pick.

Rey Maualuga is still on board at 28. We trade Tony Scheffler (i love Tony but McD won't use him) and 42 to the Bills.

Later, as we await the 79th pick, the Day Two NFL exec walks to the mic and announces, "The Denver Broncos trade the 79th pick and next year's first-round pick obtained from Chicago to the Carolina Panthers for Julius Peppers.

I hope we trade down from either #1 and stockpile more picks this year and next. I know most of you say we don't need more picks but, we do. We need plenty of upgrades and some on O too. I want to increase the odds of being alot better within the next 13 months then we are today.

That would be an amazing haul. But 3 1st rounders and Julius Peppers might kill the cap. Of course we aren't on the hook for extending Cutler (or Scheffler in this scenario) any more, so maybe it would work out.

I think I would prefer to move up our 2nd round pick and get Barwin and then use the 79th pick on Brinkley, and keep our first next year in case we need to get a QB. Your first two picks would kick ass though. It would be even more kick ass if Chip Vaughn then fell to our 4th round pick.

Also, not sure if it would matter or not, but we have 48 not 42.

So in essence what you are saying is that Shannahan screwed up this team so bad that 10 draft picks this year, along with 2 first round picks next year are not enough to start to straighten out the mess McDaniels was left by the old boss ??? Is this what I am hearing?

For

Raji, Maualuga, Jackson, Peppers

6 picks and 3 players for 3 rookies and a guy trying to make a position switch?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeell no.

Somehow the Lions get my number and out of the blue offer me a deal with $40 million guareented to be the 1st overall even though I haven't played football since junior high.

Fair enough, but in my thinking Moss and Crowder are out the door. They'll have no value when they're cut so might as well make them useful.

Also, New Orleans would send us a pick and I'd argue Raji, Jackson and Maualuga are among the safer picks in the draft. Finally, Denver would still be left will 5 draft picks this year and 8 next year. They signed 16 free agents. There's only some many spots on the team. Might as well go for difference makers.

Trade for Peppers and make him the face of the franchise. Probably would take next years number 1 from the bears and this years 3rd rounder from Bears to get it done.

With pick 12 take Jackson at DE or Raji if he falls.

With pick 18 take Rey Rey, Malcolm Jenkins, Beanie Wells

Trade Scheffler for a future 3rd

B.J. Raji falls to No. 12 and trade down from 18 to the lower part of the first round and get more picks.

Zero desire for Peppers. Just don't believe he will produce in a non-contract year, and he would eat our entire remaining cap space.

BJ Raji and Jackson in the same draft, that would make me muy bueno.

Why are most people obsessed with more picks. I for one would much rather have J.Peppers. You can only have so many rookies on the roster.

I beleive Peppers has been near the top of DE's in value every year but 1 or 2.
