I don't think anyone has started one of these yet.

Post your entries here:

Correct name - 1 point anywhere in the draft
Correct position any round (either slot) - 1 point
Correct name, correct round - two point bonus (total of 4 points)
Trifecta - correct name - correct round - correct slot - 10 points (you don't get the other points)

Tie Breaker - the closest guess to the mix between D and O players the Broncos actually draft in 2009.

Your entry must have the round, the slot, the player name, the position.

Changes can be made to your entry until the first pick is announced on draft day.

You may predict trades (obviously low percentage)

I trade up twice, with NO and Dalls, to nab Malcolm Jenkins and Max Unger.

I think this is pretty realistic, actually.

# 12 (1) Tyson Jackson - DE
# 13 (1) Malcolm Jenkins @ S (Traded up from #18 w Wash)
# 48 (2) Ron Brace - NT
# 51 (2) Max Unger - C (Traded up from #84 w Dallas)
# 79 (3) Fili Moala @ DE
#114 (4) (Traded to Wash for Jenkins)
#149 (5) (Traded to Dallas for Unger)
#185 (6) Chris Baker or Dorrell Scott - NT
#225 (7) Quinten Lawrence - WR
#235 (7) George Hypolite @ DE

That oughtta do it ....

I think the trifecta should give ten because that's near impossible to nail.

Fair enough....and makes sense...I will make it 10 points.

Think this would get more action on the main forum, or should we leave it here?

I think enough people will see it here.

This based upon the players that Denver has personnel workout with. I expect that Scheffer, Moss or Crowder will be moved for 2nd day picks.

Round 1(12) Sanchez (Trade to 8 with Jax)
Round 1(18) Connor Barwin (early but fits that need in Nolan's non Rush OLB spot)
Round 2(48) Alphonso Smith (Wake Forest) Steal of the draft
Round 3(79) Traded
Round 3(84) Andy LeVitre (Oregon State) G to fortify the middle in the future
Round 4(114) Sammie Lee Hill (DE) a project but I think he very very interesting. (Only player not brought in)
Round 5(149) Glenn Coffee (ALA) great ZBS runner
Round 6(185)Terrance Knighton (Temple) Big DT that under the radar
Round 7(225)Richard Quinn (North Carolina) Big TE that is Graham clone

Just curious also what do you like about him???

He project because he played at Div II school. I think we need to draft him in the fourth because a lot of teams have brought him in for a look and have been impressed. Baltimore has real interest in him. Newsome seems to know defense.

I like that he 330 pounds, who has the ability to play both the NT/DT and DE position.

from NFL.com
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/profiles/sammie%20lee-hill?id=79571#profiles-tabs:players-analysis
Positives: Tall with muscular overall build and long arms. ... Displays excellent agility and quickness for his size. ... Uses a punch and good hand play to discard offensive tackles at the line of scrimmage. ... Swats chipping running backs away like flies on the outside. ... Good closing speed and has the length to wrap up in the backfield. ... Flashes the initial quickness inside. ... Bull rushes his man into the pocket when one-on-one inside. ... Breaks down on the edge and changes direction well for his size. ... Could project as a 3-4 defensive end.

Negatives: Looks like a man among boys against lower level competition, especially when lined up on the edge, but must prove he can handle the next level physically. ... Fails to consistently get off double teams when inside. ... Must work on lowering his pad level so he's not stood up to lose the leverage battle against NFL offensive linemen and be susceptible to cut blocks. ... Doesn't chase or hustle consistently.

Compares To: SHAUN ROGERS, Cleveland -- Hill has the potential to be much more consistent than Rogers, but will just need time to adjust to NFL life from the low level of competition he played in. Hill flashes a burst to finish and shows effectiveness stopping the running game as a three-tech defender. He has a very strong anchor vs. the run and uses his hands well to cross over the offensive lineman's face to make the play. He generates excellent leverage to stack at the point of attack. He has the quick, strong and active hands to split double teams and his long arms allow him to consistently push the pocket.

I'm leaving Moreno at pick #18 but wouldn't be surprised if the Broncos move up a few slots to take him before San Diego's pick.

Collie - Broncos were after David Anderson of the Texans. Collie is that type of receiver - extremely productive in college, smart, good route runner. Lack of speed makes him drop to the 5th round.

Hoyer - qb with the tools but raw. Played in a big time conference (big 10). Same bio for Tom Brady a few years ago. Type of development prospect I think McDaniels will like.

Gartrell Johnson - would be a nice backup to Hillis. Pound 'em with Hillis, then pound 'em some more with Gartrell. If the Broncos don't get him Johnson will be a good late round value for some team.

*Denver Trades #12 to Jets who select Josh Freeman for their first (17) and third (79) round picks.

My reasoning:

Robert Ayers: I read somewhere that Ayers played a lot of positions for Tenn last year. This tells me he has versatility and smarts... Exactly what type of lineman for the 3-4/4-3 hybrid we'll be playing.

The trade is a pipe dream of mine so I had to put it in there even though I know there's almost no chance of it happening (go big or go home :-) )

If we stay put at 12 we may still take Ayers or we may take Everette Brown.

Knowshown Moreno: McD keeps saying we need to get better on both sides of the ball... I know that part of this is just pandering but I think he really believes this and I think Moreno is a great value at 18 and is a great fit for our offensive system

Clint Sintim: We need OLB and Sintim played in the 3-4 in college.

Fili Moala: A good fit for a 5 technique DE. Heard lots of good things from the senior bowl about him.

Dorrell Scott: A true NT, a huge need.

Jason Williams: Small school player with huge athletic skills... A project to develop

Mike Wallace: Saw him play in a bowl game and was impressed, need some depth at WR.

Derek Pegues: A versatile player in the secondary, something we need.

Brian Hoyer: Played on a bad team so I've read he's underrated, but here's our developmental QB

Captain Munnerlyn: We need some youth at CB...Cool name and it's getting late ;-)

George Hypolite: I'm a buffs fan and I loved the Rabid Goldfish... He's got enough quicks to play DE in a 3-4.

Punisher had McBath and eddie mac had Kenny McKinley. Pick numbers were only off by one round, too.

eddie mac won the 2009 Draft Pick Contest with 12 total points (10 points for picking Robert Ayers correctly at 18, 1 point for picking a safety to be taken in Round 2 and 1 point for picking Kenny McKinley in any round).

ludo21 and RocBronc tied for 2nd place with 9 points each.

Props to eddie mac on winning the 2009 Draft Pick Contest.

Well at least a lot of my picks were guys we've scouted. This will be easier next year knowing what we know now. :wiggle:

Not to quibble, but I also had Ayers right at #18, so that would be ten points, right?

However, I missed on every single person and every single position from there on out - - so congrats to Eddie Mac.
