Honestly, I may have to buy a Champ jersey just for the heck of it because it will be a collector's item. I'm a big Champ Bailey fan, have jersey's of him from his Redskin days.

Not bad....but $80 can be used for something else......Not sure who came up with the colors. Were they drunk when they designed it?

What about his Georgia days?

An authentic Georgia Champ jersey would be freaking sweet.
I think we had a thread on this a long time ago, and no one could find a true, authentic jersey of his.

If my memory serves me correctly, I learned on the History of the Broncos DVD that the Broncos were such a poor franchise that these were used high school uniforms.

Those unis are coming back to haunt us. I think only Steelers fans can appreciate the boringness of those throwbacks. All it needs now is a Lelie or Clarett name plate on the back to give it the ultimate suckyness to it. I will pass. Who would even know it is a Broncos jersey except us diehards?

the only thing that would make those uglier would be 'SLOWIK' on the back...

Close. They were used jerseys from the by-then-defunct copper bowl. So they were a shade small being that they were for college guys. But yes, the colors weren't designed by anyone. They basically found the chepest uniforms they could and those became our colors.

I'm boycotting those ridiculous things. They should have gone with the Orange Crush days as their throwbacks. Why pick the unis you were consistenly getting your asses kicked in? Senseless.

What I don't understand is how come some of the original AFL teams don't have their 1960 jerseys, while other teams like the Broncos do.

If your gonna be true to the 50 year spirit of the original AFL, then all teams should wear their first unis.

One summer night at Bears Stadium in 1962, the Denver Broncos paraded one by one past a mock-up of the Olympic flame and dropped the team’s vertically striped socks in the fire. It was a major victory for good taste, cheered on by a crowd of 8,377.
The ceremony was new coach Jack Faulkner’s idea. He wanted everything associated with the Broncos’ dismal first two seasons gone, especially those socks. There were two sets: alternating brown and mustard yellow stripes for home games, brown and white for the road.
"They were the most ridiculous things I ever saw in my life," says defensive tackle Bud McFadin.
http://endzonesportscharities.org/60-1sock.jpg
The man responsible for them was Dean Griffing, the club’s first general manager. He was a legendary tightwad—"the kind of guy who took off his glasses when he wasn’t looking at anything," says broadcaster Bob Martin—and outfitted the Broncos with used uniforms purchased from the Copper Bowl College All-Star Game in Tucson, Arizona. The bizarre socks, he insisted, made the players appear taller.
"They made you look like a peg is what they did," says safety Goose Gonsoulin. "You had these real broad shoulders because of the pads, and then you had these up-and-down striped socks.... It was unique, put it that way."
Owner Bob Housman sold the club to Cal Kunz in 1961. Kunz got rid of Griffing and Filchock (head coach) after the season and hired Faulkner, who launched a campaign that promised: "There’s Lots New in ’62." He started with the uniforms. The hated socks were torched before an intrasquad game.
A handful did escape the flames. One is on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Faulkner has a set hidden in a drawer somewhere. And several players are said to be holding a few. The cursed things are now worth $500.

I imagine games against other original AFL franchises - I believe they're calling them legacy games. So that would mean one home game against either Oakland, KC, San Diego or New England and on the road once against either Oakland, KC or San Diego.

I've actually looked at it, but haven't found one on eBay over the years, and the couple I did were too expensive for my liking.

I still need to get a NFC Pro Bowl jersey of him too.

And I thought I read it was 2 home games and 1 away game against other AFL original franchises?
Probably KC and New England at home with Oakland on the road.

If you can't get them customized, then they're worthless.

Even the hat is bad....though this whole thing is better than the current uniform. I won't lay any cash down on this stuff.

I might throw some $$ at a cap, but I agree, without being able to customize...worthless is the jersey.

I just think it's not worth it to buy a players jersey anymore....unless you're a collector, it's a lot to throwdown for a guy that's only around for a few seasons. Each their own though.

As far as the home vs. away thing goes, it really depends upon the temp on gameday. You remember OMane weekend a couple of seasons ago when it was so hot on gameday? I broke the white out for that because you'd bake in orange. Go with orange over the blue BTW and customize it.
