Madden announced his retirement Thursday morning. Already, the conjecture about his possible return to the Black Hole has begun.

He coached the Raiders from 1969-78, going 112-39-7, including a 9-7 playoff record, with one Super Bowl victory and no losing seasons. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, he remains close to Davis and keeps his home in the East Bay.

Davis opened the door to Madden's return in August 2007. He was discussing the future of the franchise and who would do what when he was done running the team.

Only a senile old fool like Davis would mention a 73 year old as having to do with the future of his franchise... :giggle:

I thought Madden originally quit coaching because his doctor told him he'd be dead in a couple of years if he didn't?

Where's Plummer???

If anything he would be a consultant. At 73 I doubt he can do much more then that.

If a 73 yr old is getting control of team I would laugh my ass off. His first move would be to trade Russell and sign Brett Favre. You just know it.

Madden wants to kick back and take it easy and enjoy life.

Being an NFL GM is a 100 hour a week grind.

Maybe if he goes there he could talk Brett Favre out of retirement.
