Unfortunately, they lost an easy game 1. Kobe is all world but the lakers are not as good as the nuggets. A game against A game, the nuggets are a better team. I won't comment on the refs because they called a good game the last five minutes which they didn't call in game one. ALF is an idiot and that's all I have to say.

I think the Kobe Melo matchup is the best in the game right now. They are both cold as ice, and really bring out the best in each other. Getting chummy with Kobe in the Olympics was the best thing that could ever happen to melo. He has become a great defender, and a much better scorer. He is as good at the pull up as kobe, and we all know he stole it from kobe. I LOVE how both of their 1on1 d was so intense that it removed both of the from the game offensively in the last 2 mins. It is amazing!

05-21-2009, 10:23 PM
Whatever.. the Lakers (and their fans) feel so entitled at this point, after so many years of success, they think every call should go their way. Their players are golden and untouchable, any call against them must be wrong.

The real truth is that the Nuggets have become quite the physical team. And one thing that is true in almost any sport, the physical team usually has the biggest QQing going their way, because other teams don't like to be pushed around.

Just like in football, the calls even out. There were two ridiculous fouls called against the Nuggets, and there was one and a bad non-call for the Lakers. It evens out, deal with it. Complaining about officiating is the last bastion of defense when your team just got whipped.

the only foul I'm really pissed about (or player who fouled) was Kmart. He got away with a LOT of rough fouls, not the one on arieza-thought that was just an odd angle, but I'm speaking specifically about the wwe move that ended up with pau gasol in the stands.

That was a bit over the top. For some reason I always key in on him , and he's always getting dirty fouls. Love him as a defender, but he's dirty

Going to Da Bears will be the best thing for Jay imaginable. He's a proven cold weather QB, and didn't really give up anything. A backup QB in his rfa year and a first?

K-Fart should have gotten a flagrant, I mean if the referees are going to be consistent and call a flagarant on K-Fart for the Dirk thing then they should for the Ariza foul. Clearly was not going for the ball.

Also thought Ariza got pushed there on the jump ball, that non-call determined the game. Oh well, time to move on and win Game 3.

Doesn't matter what you or I or any of the "Fans" think. The important thing to take from these two games is that the Nuggets believe they can win, and they have matched the Flakers with tough, hard basketball. My guess is that there is so much going on on the floor that the refs cannot keep up with the play, and seem to call a lot of "should have been" fouls both ways.

Right now, I would think the Flakers are not feeling too good because they got hammered in both games and know they could have been 0-2. The Nuggets are even tougher at home.

Game is on. And no amount of smack from the Flaker fans can change that. Nuggets are a whole lot tougher than the Flaker fans believed before these two games. So, all the bravado and shyt talk before goes out the window. I honestly believe the Flakers can very well be down 3-1 when they go back to LA.

Just finished the updated thread. All you Laker fans are whiners. You guys make five more free throws and you win, just like us last Tuesday.

So what do you all do? Whine about the officiating. You're officially a bunch of losers. Rather than look at what you can control and get better at to win, you bitch about something out of your control. That's the definition of a coward. At least have the balls to admit that the Nuggets are playing physically in the paint and making their shots in the clutch. And maybe acknowledging the stupid turnovers and multiple missed free throws in the fourth quarter before whining about the officiating. Lakers got calls and folded like tents at the free throw line when they needed to make them.

It's exactly what did in the Nuggets in game 1.

Not sure you could ask for more from Ariza.

Bynum didn't get enough PT tonight, should have played more. 18 minutes isn't going to get it done Phil.

Odom has done this for a while. I know he was like this last year in the finals. Im not sure why Laker fans act like they should expect any more of him than an occasional appearance in a big series. I know Lakers fans would like to believe that because he wears a flurple and yellow jersey, he's all that. Maybe the Laker fans should realize he's not.

Sad to see all this bitching about refs, been a great series so far and calls get missed all the time in every sport. They tend to even themselves out though, especially over a 7 game series.

It's two very good teams going at it here, try and enjoy that and give a bit of credit to the opposition rather than bitching about every single thing that doesn't go your teams way.

No complaining about the refs, not by me anyway. Kobe got pounded a couple times last night with no call, and I thought K-Mart probably shoved the airborne Ariza intentionally (although that kind of tough play is what's keeping Bynum on the bench).

Worst call of the series thusfar? Chauncey stepping on the sideline when he hit that 3-pointer with :20 left Tuesday. That could've easily decided the game, and if it had, the Lakers fans would've howled non-stop to the moon above.

K-Mark got him on the arm...he didnt shove him. Even the LA announcers (what's that, those were national announcers?) said that it was just a good foul and nothing more. Ariza was just a bit out of control headed to the hoop. Just a small foul is enough to throw you upside-down when you're out of control...I know, because thats how I play.

I haven't read the last few pages of the thread, but I already know what's there. I agree with your post. Both teams will have things to bitch about, but these have been two intense, quality games.

I'm not down on the Lakers because they have shown up to play, but they're just facing a damn good team and are in a dogfight. Linus did what Sasha used to do for the Lakers. I texted my buddy at halftime and said that Sasha had better not leave the bench the rest of the game, and he didn't.

That plus minus stat is mis leading. Ariza played a hell of a game and was -11 and Kobe was 0. Might want to bench Ariza and play Sacha POS. Wait Pau might want to sit down too since he was -5.

So far in this series I see the officiating as pretty equal on both sides. So people on both sides need to stop b****ing about it. What I can't stand is how you can tell the ESPN crew is completely for the lakers.

The "kicked ball" from Gasol yesterday was a perfect example. They started talking about how BS the call was because they didn't think Gasol Kicked it. Well guess what? There was an even more BS call in game one on a kicked ball against the Nuggets. Was anything talked about then? No, because it was a positive play for the Lakers.

Its the same thing that happened on Hochuli gate last year. The Bears did the same thing to us in 2007. They fumbled the ball but it was dead because the whistle had blown and we lost the game. No one made a big deal about it in 2007, but it happens to the Chargers, ESPN's love child in 2008 and all of the sudden its the end of the world.

I can't stand ESPN's coverage of anything.

Altitude & TNT> ESPN Altitude is the Nuggets homer network, but I really feel that TNT calls it down the middle.

this thread is awesome...how anyone can read this and call laker fans whiney, is just flat out crazy. I have never seen a whinier group of whiners in my life.

EVERY OTHER POST IS ABOUT THE REFS AND DANIEL STERN'S CONSPIRACY! it's to the point where I had to come on here and make fun of you guys because it was so comical, and yet kaylore and other's re-read this thread and call Lakers fans b****es!

DO YOU GUYS JUST SKIP OVER THE PARTS WHERE YOU BLAME THE REFS EVERY OTHER POST, OR DO YOU PURPOSELY IGNORE IT, OR ARE YOU GUYS COMPLETELY DELUSIONAL?

I mean, Jesus Christ!

I think in the year Phoenix went to the finals with Barkley, they lost the first two at home to LA (5 game series), and then won the next three. A year or two later I think Phoenix beat Houston 2x in Houston to open the series, then lost the series, and the Rockets went on to win the title.

Here to own that game 1 loss to the Magic. First, credit to orlando, they got down big in the 1st half and battled bback, made the big shots, and beat us. Heard a lot of talk about the cavs' lay-off creating rust, I dont buy that excuse because we came out red hot and had a 15 point halftime lead, if we were to show rust it would've been in the 1st quarter. Also have heard that this might have been the best thing for them to have a "wake-up" call. I don't buy that as well, this is the ECF against a 59 win team, that should be enough of a wake up. Now onto game 2...cavs need their bench to show up, 5 points all by joe smith is unacceptable. Also , howard will get his points but Z and ben need to make it tougher on him. Must win...GO CAVS!!!!

Honestly, I have been living and dieing on every possession it feels like. Wednesday morning I felt like we already got knocked out of the playoffs, then this morning felt like we already won the Championship and its time to plan the parade. We lose tomorrow and my weekend is screwed.

Not gonna lie. This Western Confernce Finals stuff is new to us. 24 years ago I was 4 and only cared about Transformers and not pooping my pants. Right now its all about the Nugs and trying not to poop my pants when Kobe has the ball late.

Melo - or even Bryant if they get there - will do you wrong. Melo has been lights out and is playing better than or at least equal to, Bryant.

I was not impressed with the Cleveland team. They were lackluster for most of the game, and I thought the Magic actually outworked and outplayed the Cavs. As for the "shot", I have seen JR shoot form that far out and make the shot. Melo's last second shot against the Mavs was equally if not more impressive because he was under duress from a guy trying to foul him.

In fact I can be more magnanimous and include shots by Bryant, Wade, (and the old guy from the Spurts whose name has conveniently escaped me), among others. The thing that makes that shot interesting is that it was a last second shot that won a contested playoff game in Cleveland. That poor, downtrodden urban area probably deserves a breath of fresh air, but in the main, the team is not "outclassing" if you will, the Orlando team. The play was rather uninspired and boring.

But, congrats to the Cavs.

IMHO, Cleveland is set for another disappointment..........

Actually, its quite possible that what the Cavs did in game 2 is more impressive than theyre being credit for. Orlando is a team that lives and dies with the outside shot. They have been able to erase big leads because of it. Meanwhile, Mo Williams hasnt exactly been hitting from the outside. The Cavs got a split inspite of this. If/when that ever swings the other way, watch out. The Cavs have been able to get a split because Lebron is such a tremendous difference maker.

agreed. As much as paladin would to downgrade how big of a shot that was and the cavs are no good, that win yesterday took us off the respirator and have life again. This magic team is tricky, they live and die by the 3 and no lead is safe if they are on and are also incredibly tough to beat. BUT...if they arent hitting those shots(had a 5-30 and 6-24 3 point shooting games against boston) then the cavs can take them. We'll see how the series goes, they have been on in both games and it's tied 1-1.

It was a great shot, no doubt, but I wouldn't say he shook off defenders with ease on that shot. He probably could have but he didn't have to. Orlando's defense was inexplicably awful on that play. It's not so much letting him get off the shot but how easily he was able to get the ball in a perfect scoring position.

But hes a smart player as well that's what makes him that much better.
