Darnell Hillman ... he and his hair were with George McGinnis on the Pacers.

Did McGinnis have a fro back then? It probably would've caught fire from all the heaters he was smokin'.

son of a bltch. Both Smith and Martin gonna play hurt.

PLAYA VISTA, CALIF. — As if the Nuggets' problems beating the Lakers weren't enough, injuries are starting to creep into the picture.

Both guard J.R. Smith and forward Kenyon Martin will play with ailments in Game 2. Smith said he has a calf strain and limped around the Los Angeles Clippers practice facility, where coach George Karl put his Nuggets through drills today.

Smith did not run during practice. He did some treadmill work beforehand and sat out much of the on-court session. Still, he says he'll be ready to go for Thursday night's game.

"I'm definitely going to play," Smith said. "I don't think nothing can keep me from this game. It's getting better. It's more of a calf strain than anything. I'm doing the right thing, just staying and getting extra treatment. I'll be ready for tomorrow."

Martin fractured his left ring finger during the Nuggets' loss, but is expected to play Thursday night. Also, Renaldo Balkman, who didn't play in the first game, is nursing a sprained ankle. He'll be available Thursday night.

I think I finally figured out whats kept Bynum down all year. LABF has been swinging on his nuts since November.

Andrew Bynum in the first 30 games totally healthy was really good, right before he was injured he was awesome, averaging 20 and 10. After the injury his second in two years he is clearly not fully healthy mentally and physically. He is not as aggressive and gets into foul trouble early.

Wow, so Cleveland isn't the best thing since sliced bread. I got a kick out of people saying that they were so great because they had blown everybody out in the playoffs so far, but people liked to ignore the fact that they played to lousy teams.

As a Laker fan (assuming they'll get past the Nuggets, which will be tough) I rather the Lakers play the Cavs. They match up better. I don't think the Cavs would give the Lakers a lot of problems. I think the Magic would. The advantage of playing the Magic would be home court advantage though. But I think the Lakers would win an early game in Cleveland.

Typical overreaction post. The cavs played like crap and Williams/West hit a couple big shots late but before that couldn't hit water jumping out of a boat. Orlando shot lights out after the first quarter and still barely won.

Lakers just need to peak at the right time. The can beat Nuggets with their 'b" game, but for finals will need the 'A' game. Basketball the momentum can swing quick though so Lakers better hope Nuggets don't get hot and play over their heads or they could still lose.

Don't see it happening though Denver just doesn't have the size or anyone to match up with Kobe.

Refs sent Nuggets to line plenty.Yeah. I pointed that out last night ... problem with using that as an excuse though, is we led the league in number of foul shots this year, or were close. We led the league last too with AI. It's a natural carry-over we would go to the line a lot in post-season too.

The Bavetta assignment is pretty disturbing if there actually is an agenda to elevate the Lakers to the finals quickly. But I really don't think the league wants a short series. You can always give the Lakers every call in games 6 and 7 if you have to (see 1999 Indiana v. New York series for reference).

Well the thing is if the Nugs somehow, someway, by some miracle beat the Lakers tonight, they have 2 games at home with the series tied 1-1 and Bavetta and Javie are done for the series. Figured they would be in there for Game 6 or 7 or if the Nuggets wn 3 games. But they way the Nugs have impressed during these playoffs, and the way they outplayed the Lakers in Game 1, don't think the league wants to leave anything to chance. Maybe the Nugs give everything they have in Games 3 and 4 and win, but bottom line you go up 2-0 in the playoffs, you win something like 95% of those series.

I can buy that.

I really had no problem with the officiating in the last game, but I have read several articles that point out that the Lakers pretty much got every single call during the last 5-6 minutes of that game (excluding Chauncey's foot on the line when the game was already over).

To me, during that time span, only the Carmelo charge was complete bull****, and the calls Kobe got (and didn't get earlier in the game) were legit; a result of stupidity and a loss of composure by Martin and the Nuggets.

I think if they can get a similarly officiated game tonight, the Nuggets have a great chance of winning. If they can put them away (as they had multiple chances to do so on Tuesday) the refs won't have a chance to bail the Lakers out.

I thought the reach in foul on Martin was bull**** along with Billups foot on the line. Other than that it was pretty even. I stopped watching the NBA because of the bS officaiting, but this game wasn't one of them IMO.

Where did you read that? I think it is safe to say that the winner of the Denver/LA series will put the most talented team on the floor. LA has a ton of talent, but doesn't play consistent B-Ball. Denver has played as a team this postseason and if they maintain confidence and health, they are going to be a threat. Look at the box score from last nights cavs vs magic game, cavs played pretty solid overall. They didn't get to the stripe as much as they are used to and their D didn't appear to be as solid, but Dwight dominates on the inside and kicks out to some amazing 3 point shooters. On many nights you pick your poison with Orlando. Problem is, some nights when the double team comes for Dwight, those open three pointers don't fall. That is when the Magic have trouble. I'm not worried about dropping this first game, I expect a long drawn out series in both the east and west.

After the Los Angeles Lakers upset the Denver Nuggets last night (105 - 102) in game one of the Western Conference Finals, Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom were spotted dining with Carmelo Anthony and his finace La La Vasquez at Hollywood hotspot Katsu-ya.

Derek Fisher was accompanied by his wife Candace while Lamar Odom dined with an unidentified date (not Oscar nominee Taraj P. Henson whom he was linked to a few months back).

So Carmelo is dining with the Lakers? Probably wants to join the Lakers when his contract is up.

Kobe and Melo are buds and I heard on the radio that their wives were sitting next to each other at the game. I don't think the old school players would be hanging out like this during a playoff series.

I guess it didn't stop Kobe and Melo from going hard at each other, though. Kobe gave Melo props and talked about how covering him was like wrestling a bear.

Old school players didn't have McDonalds games, Summer Leagues, Olympics et al in which to be on the same team as each other. Players from different NBA teams know each other much better these days.

Still don't like it though.

Obviously, I'm thinkin Lakers in the finals, but I think ANY combo of teams at this point in time will make for an exciting matchup. The NBA's in a pretty win win imo. Each team has a very likeable, marketable, exciting superstar that will bring in big ratings.

Hard to win when a jumpshooting team shoots over 65 percent for 3 quarters and shoots 45 percent from deep. Orlando shot horrible in first quarter and was hot the rest of the way. Cavs will struggle when bench pitches in 5 total points and West/Willams shoot 32 shots and hit a third of them. Lebron willed them into even being in the game. Orlando will have a couple off games and Cleveland's supporting role will play better resulting in a couple blowout wins for them.

Really? how about instead of looking, you start reading?

I have, and all I see is you crying about the fact that Nuggets fans aren't happy with a couple of calls.

You're making a bigger deal out of it than it has to be. So you're the baby in the situation.
