I read parts of it - i think it's important to always read these things. If you don't you just rely on "what you are told".

I read das kapital by marx and it left a mark. In a good way.

I read part of it, from a literary stand point it is only a small step up from the back of a corn flakes box.

I read it. It's worth a look definitely. It is not the greatest read ever or even that good. However, it is a look inside of one of the greatest leaders the world has ever seen.

I think Hitler was a great leader as far as getting Germany out debt and the people working again. However, by starting WWII over bogus claims and plunging the world into darkness from 39-45 costing the lives of over 30 million people---all but negates anything good Hitler did.

He still lives on in less evil means through the Volkswagen "Peoples Car" which he's responsible for starting as well as the Autobahn system.

But yes... the man was a certified nutcase.

I bet George Soros jacks off to it while reading it every night.

Yes, I'm sure that the son of a Hungarian Jew that changed the family
name from Schwartz to Soros in response to growing anti-semitism and
the rise of fascism in Europe goes orgasmic to the writing of a madman
who gassed 6 million of Soro's fellow Jews.

Can't believe you are really this stupid. This has got to be an act.

George Soros (pronounced /ˈsɔroʊs/ or /ˈsɔrəs/,[2] Hungarian IPA: [ˈʃoroʃ]) (born August 12, 1930, in Budapest, Hungary, as György Schwartz) is an American currency speculator, stock investor, businessman, philanthropist, and political activist.[3]

Forbes lists Soros as the 29th-richest person in the world, with a net worth estimated at $11.0 billion. Soros has given $6 billion to various causes since 1979.[1]

Soros is chairman of Soros Fund Management and the Open Society Institute and is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also one of three initial funders of Center for American Progress, and is represented on the board.[4] His funding and organization of Georgia's Rose Revolution was considered by Russian and Western observers to have been crucial to its success, although Soros said his role has been greatly exaggerated. In the United States, he is known for having donated large sums of money in a failed effort to defeat President George W. Bush's bid for re-election in 2004.

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker wrote in 2003 in the foreword of Soros' book The Alchemy of Finance:

George Soros has made his mark as an enormously successful speculator, wise enough to largely withdraw when still way ahead of the game. The bulk of his enormous winnings is now devoted to encouraging transitional and emerging nations to become 'open societies,' open not only in the sense of freedom of commerce but—more important—tolerant of new ideas and different modes of thinking and behavior.

He's a real piece of sh!t.

Wise enough to walk away from the game while ahead.

BTW, what did he add to the economy, besides speculating his way to riches?

He makes the railroad barons and Hearst look like angels.

30 million is grossly inadequate.

Second World War (1937-45): 55 000 000 [make link]
Total:
It's the most intensively studied event of the 20th Century, so the margin of error is not quite a wide here as for most of the other wars and oppressions on this page. Most historians agree that the death toll was about 50 million (including wartime atrocities). If you don't believe me, here's just a sampling of the books I have on hand:
Haywood: Atlas of World History (1997): 50M
Keegan, J., The Second World War (1989): 50M
Messenger, The Chronological Atlas of World War Two (1989): 50M
The Times Concise Atlas of World History (1988): 50M
J.M. Roberts, Twentieth Century (1999): >50M
Urlanis: 50M
Soldiers: 22.0M
Civilians
In camps, from Fascist terror: 12.0M
From hostilites, blockade, epidemics, hunger: 14.5M
From bombing: 1.5M
Dictionary of Military History (1994): 41M
Wallechinsky: 40-55M
Kinder, The Anchor Atlas of World History (1978): 55M
Hammond: 55M
Guiness World Records: 56.4M [http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/index.asp?id=46252]
Sivard, Ruth Leger, World Military and Social Expenditures 1986 (11th ed.): 38,351,000 (1939-45), not incl. 1.8M in Sino-Japanese War (1937-41)

If your read it make sure you find a few supplemental readings to go along with it. If you know the history of the goings on in that time period it gives context for the entire book and can add a lot of meaning.

I love Jews, FYI. They're hilarious on the whole, and even grow some hot women.

Another thing I love? Stereotyping.

I had to read it in college (Took Nazi Germany as a history elective) and found it to be just like any other political manifesto I ever read....or, in other words, a total snore.

They accelerated the whole process, yes, but the plans were in place and they were being built well before Hitler gained political prominence.

I think we can all agree that Hitler had the vision for his goals but would not have been able to meet his financial goals w/o the help of investment bankers in Europe and in the United States were sympathetic to the Nazi cause and Hitlers charisma!
