Anyone heard of this guy?

Now that Jay Cutler is no longer in Denver, the Broncos are keeping their options open when it comes to the future signal caller of their franchise. A source told Scout.com that the Broncos will host Texas A&M QB Stephen McGee on Wednesday, April 15th.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound McGee was troubled by a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder this past season and only started three games for the Aggies. In limited action, the usually elusive McGee carried the ball only 17 times for a disappointing 50 yards and threw just 85 passes, completing 56 of them (65.9-percent) for 586 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
But, it was his ascension this offseason that has made him a sought after prospect. At the East-West Shrine Game, McGee had a standout week of practice and an impressive performance on game day. He completed 9-of-14 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown. At the Scouting Combine, the intrigue over McGee blossomed, as he ran a 4.61 in the 40-yard dash and threw well during positional drills.
McGee is currently the 5th rated quarterback (59th overall) in the Scout.com Draft Rankings.

Anyone who watches the Big 12 has definitely heard of McGee. He's a great prospect...He had great buzz even in his freshman year, pushing the super-athelete Reggie McNeal (sp?) for playing time forcing Franchoine to put him in certain formations.

McGee has the look of a pro prospect physically, but it's hard to rate his pro potential as a passer based on his college game tape since they ran an option offense for most of his collegiate career. If you watch his games against the big dawgs of the big12, you never see McGee backdown from the Longhorns or the Sooners, so he passes the confidence and attitude test well. He has all the intangibles, and he's really had strong showings throughout the evaluation process since January.

McGee and Bomar are definitely the top QB prospects (in my estimation) after round 1 in this draft. I think you could make a case that they're the best options to draft and develop since they will come with a cheaper second day contract that won't give GMs and coaches the pressure to play them before they've developed--that's something you can't say about Stafford, Sanchez, or Freeman.

Just went to Draft Daddy and found this from one of their sources:

http://www.draftdaddy.com/blog/nfldraft.htm

One of our long time, inside sources tells us Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee could be rising fast as draft weekend nears:

"Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee is very likely to be the 1st senior quarterback selected in the upcoming N.F.L. draft. He had arguably the strongest showing of all the quarterbacks who participated at the N.F.L. Combine...McGee, who has drawn comparisions to Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, is an intriguing prospect due to the fact that he is considered a drop back passer with tremendous speed.

...

...The 6-3, 225-pounder flew under the radar during his time at Texas A&M. While his statistics under former head coach Dennis Franchione were solid enough to earn N.F.L. attention (60 percent completion rate for 4,606 yards and a 24-10 touchdown-to-interception ratio), he was a bit overlooked thanks to Franchione's read-option offense.

Prior to McGee's senior year, former Green Bay head coach Mike Sherman was named coach at A&M. Many N.F.L. scouts expected a big season from Stephen, but a shoulder injury limited him to three starts. Following a great week of practice at the East-West game, scouts came away impressed with his development. The fast rising quarterback had every team but one in attendance at his Pro Day and has had over 20 teams visit with him at College Station this season.

For the last two decades, college quarterbacks who played through their senior season have had more success than their early-entrant counterparts. Since 1998, for example, there have been 11 early-entry quarterbacks drafted by N.F.L. teams, but only three are currently starting: Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers and JaMarcus Russell".

Even at the worst of times, McGee said he never wondered what might have been had he gone to Georgia, his second choice. At Georgia Highland Park product Matthew Stafford developed into the projected No. 1 pick.

"Maybe if I went to Georgia I would have been a first-round draft pick," McGee said. "OK, great, but I learned things here at A&M that are more valuable than wherever I may be [taken] ó the leadership, being tested under fire, the struggles, the heat I took as a quarterback here, backing my coach and teammates.

"Those lessons mean so much more than the hype of a first-round draft pick. I want to be a first-round pick, donít get me wrong, but I was able to be a part of lessons here at A&M that in the long run I can lean on in the NFL."

Here's a guy that you definitely consider with a 3rd or 4th rounder. Let him sit for a year, and see what you got.

Good, he one of those under the radar guy I been pumping in the draft forum. Good news he has speed, great athlete and good not great arm. Problem is he is raw. Kubes think he has the potential to be very good QB in the NFL.

Would be poetic if we took him with the Bears 3rd and he became the next Brady.

He might make a good announcer someday. Logan is getting old. Dude got benched for Reggie McNeil. Reggie who? He never won a bowl, only beat Texas once. The offense put up a whole 12 points in that game. Seen Nebraska beat them in person on their home field because he couldnt throw the ball back in 06. He was a .500 QB in conference play surrounded by talent. To waste a 2nd,3rd or 4th on him is a joke.
