View Full Version : Guess what became a posibility with the Cutler Trade.

You know when we got Cutler I said to myself... nah this can't ever happen. He's going to be our QB till I'm in my mid 30's.

Well he's gone so now it is.

"The son of NFL great, John Elway, has a big arm and looks like he can make every throw easily. He is effortless on deep balls and showed some touch on intermediate passes. He's still pretty raw and is inconsistent with his fundamentals, which affects his accuracy but there's nothing that won't improve with some work. He really has a good upside."

What do you all think the odds are of Jack Elway getting drafted, and then becoming out QB?

Do you want this? Would this excite you?

P.S. this wouldn't happen for another 4 years.

If he came to Denver, I honestly think his career would be a big bang or a big bust due to his father's pressure.

Let's see if Jack can crack the starting lineup at Arizona State before we anoint him the savior of the Broncos.

No way he'd want to come here and have to play in his dad's shadow. That's a double wammy for him.

I'm sure getting Jack Elway will finally relieve the city of always comparing every QB to John. :approve:

Another question, what happens if he ends up on a rivals team? Imagine Elway leading the Raiders....

It obviously a super slim chance we get him and an even slimmer chance he's a success, but just think how cool that would be if him and his dad were the best QBs in Denver history.

Reading his profile he sounds like an Elway/Cutler player from a physical standpoint too. Iono, it would be pretty ****ing cool though.

That would be the coolest thing ever...And I would totally forgive Bowlen/The Coach for trading Cutler.

I also think that for this one and only instance we should unretire #7.

I could totally see Davis (if he's still alive in 4 years) doing everything possible to not let another Elway slip through his fingers.

As an ASU guy, I'm keeping a close watch on him. He's going to be a physical stud that's for sure.

We already did great with the son of one pro bowl quarterback. Let's try another!

Actually, that was kind of a cheap shot on Griese. Griese was a pretty good QB until that dirty hit out of bounds messed up his shoulder. Before the hit, he had a weak but accurate arm and ran a pretty solid offense. After that, he went to really weak and not especially accurate.

If he develops into an NFL prospect, the absolute worst place for him to end up would be in Denver.

He would need to go to a team where he can just play and not deal with the mega distraction.

Remember how excited the Dolphins fans were about getting Griese in 2003?

Well, we do currently have Chris Simms, son of Phil Simms, on the team.

as intriguing as it would be, i would rather him play elsewhere. the pressure of living up to John will drive the guy insane. Unlike other guys who play QB in Denver and get the comparisons tossed at them, Jack will have to deal with it every day, without break. even playing elsewhere he will get the comparisons, but here in Denver it will be crazy

It bothers me that Phil Sims daddy beat the daylights out of us in SB XXI and was super bowl MVP.

It would never happen. He already confirmed that he'd threaten to go play baseball unless his rights were traded to the Broncos.

Who's Phil Simms daddy? He must've been in his 50s during that game. :P

I doubt either Elway would want anything to do with the Oakland franchise.

I know the Osweiler kid from Montana pretty well... seen him play a few times and played basketball against him.... Can't see him bein a huge success... to many accuracy issues....

He is a big big kid though with a big arm....being from the 406 (montana) I hope to all hell he does well but I just can't see it

I will be keepin my eyes on ASU next few years though as I'm watchin both a kid I know and the DUKE's son compete for starting QB

Elway for GM. Elway for owner. Elway for coach. Elway's son for QB. People, give it a rest.

Jack Elway is late round prospect right now that projects as a career backup. I really don't want us to draft him because I think Denver needs to get over John Elway. I got over him nine years ago.

11 years later, Denver still wants to buy a new puppy that looks just like the old one.

I think the local Bronco fans would run him out of town like they have their last 2-3 QBs.

You guys are tough on QB's.

I saw Cutler on the local FOX Sports show Sunday night and he was affable and had a presence that no QB in Chicago has had since JM.

I don't see the reason for the hate.

By the age Jack is right now...John was already a legend in California.

You could tell John Elway was special even in HS. His son not so much but of course an above avg player. To make pros though you have to be really good. Most college starting qbs never play in pros.

It would make a cool headline but I wouldn't start thinking about it just yet.

Yep as a kid growing up in LA I heard about John Elway. first from Baseball though. I was more into baseball and he led Granada Hills high to a baseball championship around 1977-78? something like that. I was a youngster. It was a big deal because Crenshaw was all black, fast, with future big leager Strawberry hitting homers for them.

Too bad I only read about it, would have been cool to go see that game, but I was only 8 yrs old!!!!! Growing up in H.S though everyone knew who that Elway was a local stud and would be a huge star someday. We just though it would be baseball. But by his senior yr it was obvious he was a stud QB. I can still remember my dad talking about all the colleges that wanted him.

My dad was a USC guy so he was upset and thought Elway blew it by going to Stanford.

Jack is red shirted and now dropping out of football. He couldn't crack the starting line-up and got discouraged. Maybe he is more like his mom instead of his dad

Even if he stayed at ASU, how is this a possibility now that we traded Cutler?

To say that getting Sanchez or Freeman in the 1st round, or trading a pick for a QB, is now a possibility...but sitting on our hands for 4 years and not doing anything about the QB position(I've caught word that it's somewhat of an important position to fill) is really not a possibility.
