I know that Broncos fans are beginning to feel the sting of the loss of Cutler and will continue to be attracted to the prospect of beginning the process all over again this season. You'll hear alot about Mark Sanchez. Pundits and fans alike are already projecting the Broncos as picking Sanchez.

I don't think that Sanchez is bad. He's a firey competitor. However, he's not a total quarterback and he wont be what McChild wants. He tends to freelance alot. He doesnt have the strongest arm, but he can make some of the tough throws. What scares me about him is that he tends to let the ball sail alot. He throws floaters. All told, he reminds me of Jeff Garcia (and not because of the latin heritage)...he's good at moving around and extending plays...when he extends the play he looks for short and intermediate targets. Unless a player is open in the clear behind the secondary, he doesnt have the confidence to make the play.

Personally, I wouldnt take him in the top 20. If he fell to the back end of the first round, I think that he might be a good risk to take.

I think that the best plan for the Broncos is to go with the best players available in this draft and to wait until the great QB crop that will be there to choose from next year. Bradford is the ideal player for the Patriot-style passing game, and other players like McCoy and Snead will be around as well. The odds are pretty good that we'll have another top 10 pick next season as well.

How do you keep doing this? this is exactly what I think and have been saying on forums for going on 24 hours now.

I really hope that Denver does not combine their 2 1st round picks to trade up and take Mark Sanchez....that would be defeating the purpose of trading Cutler for picks if we have to use them to trade up and take an unproven QB.

If Sanchez fell to 12, I would not be as upset (although I am not a big Sanchez fan).

I don't really see us using a 1st round pick on a QB though....it is not the Patriot way.

I would rather roll with Orton and Simms in 2009 and draft a QB high in 2010 if we have to.

I see Denver using a mid round pick on a QB....maybe someone like Curtis Painter from Purdue.

I don't like either of the projected 1st round QBs...not as 1st rounders, anyway. I really don't think we'll go that direction. We'll take a QB at some point I'm sure, but not in the 1st. Go with Orton and Simms this year, see how things go, then reevaluate the position next year when there will be better QB prospects available.

I don't see the Broncos trading up to get any QB. I could see taking one maybe in the middle rounds at best, but they have to get that defense in order and it's going to take more than just a player or two.

They need to take at least 2 DL somewhat high in the draft, at least 2 LB's somewhat high in the draft, and probably a CB too. Heck, even a safety somewhere to groom as well.

The QB class will be better next year anyway.

I'm thinking they run w/ what they have this year and make a run at the qb studs coming from next years qb class.

I'm all for drafting a QB to groom, but I'd prefer McGee in the 3rd round. I don't like Nate Davis, but I'm not opposed to taking a chance on him if he's picked up in say the 6th round.

I agree with McSkillet....Sanchez should say no if the Broncos pick him! He should pull an Eli Manning.:approve:

I think that Josh Freeman is by far the best value QB in the draft, and I suspect that as we get closer you'll see him creep up draft boards.

That kid throws a frozen rope, has a NFL body, moves very well, and by all appearances looks sharp in his reads.

If I rolled the dice on one of these QB's, it would be Freeman.

Yeah, we could nickname him "Slash." :oyvey:

Look at this play...there's not another player in the draft who can sling a bomb like this on the run. The WR is the only player who can make a play on it after it travels 50 yards in the air. GREAT throw. That's a play that changes a game in the NFL.

Yeah, we could nickname him "Slash."

I dont see any similarities to Kordell Stewart at all. Maybe his blackness? What a crock of crap.

The guy is a shotgun and drop-back passer.

See what Orton does in the next 3 years and then go out and draft Jack Elway.

You should hear what Trent Dilfer has to say about Mark Sanchez. I'll take his opinion over yours. Sorry.

I don't see any similarities between Sanchez and Garcia. Maybe they're both hispanic?

I take back the "Slash" comment on Freeman. I went and watched a bunch of film on him and he's nothing like Kordell. The game I saw him in I thought he was running too much but that appears to have been a random game. He does look pretty good. He'd probably be a good fit for TBay. I still don't think the Broncos will take a QB in the first, even if Sanchez drops to them (although I wish they would). I think McD's MO is to find a smart guy with a basic, good skill set in later rounds and coach him up.

According to one of the interviews McD just did (transcript is somewhere on this board) he'll take the best player available, at least, that's what I take from the transcript of his interview. He may take one of the top 3 QBs in the draft if he feels it makes the team better.

What he said was his strategy is going to be to take the best player available at a position of need.
