The problem with this draft is you are giving up a franchise type QB and taking 3 guys with the first 3 picks who could easily bust.

SCARY.

I could see Wells, Gilbert and Mathews all busting on the next level to a certain degree.

Nice effort Lex.

I'm beginning to think if we had those picks unless Raji was there at 12 we should trade 12 for 2nd rounder in 09 and a #1 in 2010 stockpile more picks for 2010 draft. This team will have a zillion needs to fill. Next year we can stockpile more picks to build a solid team hopefully in next 2 or 3 drafts.

I can see Stokley BM and Champ gone in the next 2 yrs so that's more needs.

so you mean to add years of suck to this already bad situation.

by sending this years picks away to use next year, it all but ensures a top 5 pick in the draft next season.

i say get detroit on the phone get 20, 33, a mid rounder and next years 1st for Jay and take Wells, Cushing, Mathews and Brace in the 1st 2 rounds.

with no QB we are going to need a RB and we better get the best one in this draft

Cool! I like it.
A strong running game, and new toys on D.
Now we need a QB that istn't asked to do too much and plays within the system.
Between this draft and the next - it'll happen.
I'm excited about the possibilities!

Did you read what I said, look at the picks Lex had in his mock. I said, if Raji isn't at 12 we trade it for an 09 #2 and a 2010 #1.

20. Clay Matthews Jr.

We'd still have #20 and add a pick around #56 So we'd have 20 33 48 56 65 79 we'd have 6 picks in top 79. Plus 2 or 3 #1's in 2010 that we could use to aquire more picks in 2011 draft. Face it we have alot of needs to fill. Its probably unlikely but, if played right we could have a very solid team IF Denver can draft well by 2011. I know its alittle madden ish but, something close to it and we could possibly really load up our team very fast.

I know IF Denver actually had 3 #1's we would trade one for 2011 picks.

Haha, I like everything but the first. I hate the idea of Clay Matthews in the first, /shudder.
Nice mid round pickups though. Love Pat White and Scott McKillop.

no i understand the scenario, but it doesn't work. using the picks now, can have these rookies up to speed in 2 years and possibly turning the team around, whereas trading them for future picks, while a good idea in the long run does nothing to help up now.

if we ended up with 12, 20 and 33, i say use those picks now, because knowing our luck we'll trade number one of the 1sts to a garbage team that will win the super bowl next season for their number 1 and a mid rounder next year and we'll actually lose value on our pick

I agree our best shot is a trade with Detriot. But you don't give away Cutler for anything les than two firsts and a second .

Here's how I figured it:

1. Curry -- best D player and best LB in draft
12. Tyson Jackson - best DE in draft
20. Knowshon Moreno - best RB in draft
33. Ron Brace - we get our NT for the 3:4
48. a CB -- yet to be decided OR
Rashad Johnson, our future FS

In one draft we rebuild the defense -- and fill the now urgent need for a top RB

The QB issue -- of course -- remains unsolved.

i honestly would rather in trade get Detroit's 20 and 33 this year, and a 1st and 2nd next year instead of number 1 overall, because even as good as Curry seems to be, no one in this draft class is worth all that guaranteed money that the number 1 pick will get, because with next years 1st from Detroit we will be in position to get Bradford (we'll probably be in position with our own 1st next year as well)

i think Gilbert is better than Jackson

and Moreno is maybe the 5th best RB in this draft, behind Wells, Greene, Jennings, and Brown

with that in mind i would draft
Wells at 12
Matthews at 20
Gilbert at 33
Brace at 48
