Overview
The 2008 WAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year -- with an eye-popping 22 tackles for loss -- Gilbert was characterized by some as a product of the Spartans' aggressive defense until, that is, he proved to be arguably the most dominant presence at the East-West Shrine Game. The question for scouts now isn't whether Gilbert can play, but at which position to utilize his unique combination of size and athletic ability. Gilbert signed with San Jose State as a 240-pound defensive end in 2004. He added over 40 pounds since and has the frame to add even more. ... The son of former New Orleans Saints' offensive tackle Daren Gilbert, Jarron has incredible athleticism for his size and could be just scratching the surface of his potential.

High School
Lettered in football (Coach John Monger), basketball and track and field at Chino (Calif.) High School ... Was an All-Sierra League selection in football and basketball.

Oh yeah. Right on! Id love it if Gilbert lasted until we picked in the 2nd. Doesnt seem like it will happen based on the buzz he's been generating but that would be great. Id rather have Gilbert than Tyson Jackson.

Cincy may take Raji though is the problem. Their defense is so bad up the middle. Gilbert does fit a 3-4 defense rather well and I do think he would offer more athletic ability than say Jackson at #12.

Can not complain with this mock. I wouldn't mind a Rey/Brace first day either

If we get Raji and Gilbert I will wet myself. Then we can focus on LB, RB later.

I'm okaying throw picks at our front 7 on defense in rounds 1 and 2. You could make arguements for over 5 or 6 positions though in those rounds.

Raji and Gilbert would be a great 1st day and the foundation to a pretty good D-line going forward, but I'm still a fan of trading down and stockpiling picks.

Take a look at NE's draft: Matthews, Barwin, Brown, and Kruger. That's a PERFECT scenario on day 1 for a team like Denver, who needs as many picks as possible.
