Denver - Jordan Eisenberg says he knows a thing or two about dealing with the volatile emotions of premenstrual syndrome. After all, he grew up around women. A year ago, the 28-year-old entrepreneur and Denver resident decided to devise a way other men could do the same. The outcome was PMSbuddy.com, a free Internet-based service that tracks the monthly cycles of a subscriber's significant other and offers e-mail reminders about the impending deadlines. And it's catching on: The site surpassed 150,000 registered users last month. Ten percent are women. Not to rest on his laurels, Eisenberg recently added a phone application PMS Buddy iPhone for 99 cents. There were 1,000 downloads the first day.

"We don't intend to be taken too seriously," Eisenberg said. "People think it's funny, interesting, helpful . . . maybe a combination." Some aren't so light-hearted, claiming the site is an adversary to understanding the problems women face, perpetuating stereotypes of women suffering from PMS. "I feel it just reinforces this thing that women are driven by their hormones," said Joanne Belknap , a professor of sociology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. "Men also have hormonal cycles. . . . We just aren't as preoccupied with them."

I can't back this up with any facts or sources myself, but I had a professor two years ago that said he had read studies that completely debunked PMS as a myth and that PMS is merely something that woman attribute their crankiness to when the time is right.

I'm not saying I completely believe this but it probably has some truth to it.

Also, I find this line funny: "Men also have hormonal cycles. . . . We just aren't as preoccupied with them." I'm not debating this, but he is already being bombarded with woman's rights people, talk about giving the enemy ammunition.

Watch for this guys body someday.

PMS is for real. Usually a couple of days about two weeks before and about 2 days before the onset. There were 3 stages, blah, weepy, and homicidal. I enjoyed the homicidal the most. I would have derived GREAT pleasure out of dismantling someone physically, perferably of the male species.

We women do believe that men have hormonal cycles also. While ours lasts for about 1 week out of the month, men's is 3 weeks.

Why on earth would you attempt to dismantle them physically when you could simply nag the male to death? Far less wear and tear on you.

A PMS dectector would be really cool, but this is more like a PMS predictor.

Really, men do have hormonal cycles that effect mood as well, but they are much more subtle.

Too true dude. I have a wife and 3 daughters. My son wants to move out to the backyard to get away from them he says.

You don't need a detector if you've been living with them long enough, you just kind of know when it is coming.

The crappy thing is, if I am ornery, I'm an a$$. If she is ornery, she "can't help it because she is hormonal" and if I don't deal well with it, then I am an a$$.

Either way, I'm an A$$.

My last girlfriend had CMS. Constant Menstrual Syndrome.

It starts two weeks before menstration, and continues the week after. The only time you can really get laid is leap year.

Nagging can be done anytime, besides they never listen anyway. Besides the intense feeling isn't satisfied by nagging, the dismantling would make him very aware and the more pain the more satisfaction. ;D

Men definitely have hormonal cycles. Its called MMS. Mane Meltdown Syndrome. Occurs in sudden bursts in relation to real or imagined news about the broncos. It lasts overly long and fills up endless pages of cyberspace marked by whiny pointless bitching and overanalysis of every piece of gossip to be found. ;D Those suffering from this should avoid the internet to lesson severity of symptoms. Those living with these indiviuals should consider finding a new partner as this condition often worsens with time. ;)

I'd have to string together a couple of DieHard batteries.

Seriously, it can be downright scary at times. Having all those women around means someone's always crying, moaning about cramping and bloating or screaming. On the bright side, there is always chocolate around.
