It's true, Sean Penn is going to play the Larry character in a new Three Stooges movie.

Nyuk Nyuk…Huh? Sean Penn Joins ‘Three Stooges’ Movie

Sean Penn

To his allies, Sean Penn is a wise guy; to his adversaries, he’s a stooge.
Now they’re both correct: the actor has joined the cast of “The Three
Stooges,” a new MGM comedy based on the vintage film shorts of that
knockaround trio, Variety reported. Mr. Penn, who recently won his second
Academy Award, for playing the title role in Gus Van Sant’s “Milk,” is set to
play Larry, the wire-haired, Stradivarius-wielding Stooge. The studio is also
said to be in final negotiations with Jim Carrey, who will gain weight to play
the rotund Curly, and is pursuing Benicio Del Toro (“Che”) to play the irritable
Moe. The film is to be written and directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly
(of “There’s Something About Mary” and “Kingpin” fame), and is planned for
a 2010 release.

Always hated the Stooges ... chalk up another reason for me to not like them.

I hate the Stooges too but this sounds even worse. One funny guy in the whole bunch.

It's gotta be tough to assemble a solid cast nowadays, given that The Expendables has already booked up all the Grade A talent Hollywood has to offer.

I wonder who woudl be better than these guys...

How about Carrot Top for Larry, and Dinaro for Moe -- I think they would "fit" better. Not sure who would be good for curly, but as funny as Carrey is, he better get a good makup artist, who I guess will put 100 pounds of makeup on him...

Hopefully it will be good, i think we could use a good laugh. You ever see Rat Race? That came out just after 911, and was a healthy distraction. I dont know why Hollywood cant make a good comedy anymore? Dick and Jane, was the last good one I have seen.

Curly must either be gay or promoting some sort of liberal agenda in this flick.

Hollywood will politicize anything and everything.

40 year old virgin and Superbad come to mind.

You seem to like Jim Carrey (I assume you're talking about the remake of Dick and Jane). Yes Man was awesome.
