Wow, that's cool as hell. These guys got right out there and went to work on this. (Or, saw it coming and planned it.)

Great stuff. I hope they keep their sports section current.

Yeah if they do this "right" it could become something that is more adaptable to the new mediums and can endure. In that sense they have an advantage over the newspapers.

online only assume, i wonder if they will have a "pay for" access section like espn insider. im sure many people would sign up on principle...dont know though.

The Rocky itself just should've gone online only then.

Good for them! It's time the newspaper community entered the 21st century.

These guys are prolly in great shape from a business standpoint, I'll tell you why: The Seattle Post-Intelligencer here is winding down parallel to what the Rocky Mountain News did ... any day now, any week now, the P-I will go the same route as the Rocky.

But over the past month, the P-I has made a business decision to continue as an ONLINE PAPER ONLY. They've even announced retention of about 35 writers and editors for the online edition. So they've identified a market and ad revenue that can support it. The Rocky didn't do that, maybe they dropped the ball, and these guys can pick it up.

Are they going to charge for the content? I just don't see how a website that caters to a single market can pay 35 writers + staff.

No they will get killed if they charge for content. It will have to come from ad click revenue.

what a great thing, Denevr was one of the few cities that had two major newspapers, now we're out of that running. Glad to see this come alive.

Apa's right, they're not plannig to charge ... yet, anyway.

There is some revenue plab in place, lots of local content and I think contests.

i have a feeling that Montrose's source is someone that works for the online edition. We have narrowed it down. Montrose, you one of the writers?

Great stuff. There are alot of talented writers there. It bothers me that the Post still has hacks like Kiszla and Burger Bill has a job at ESPN while alot of the good RMN guys have been hung out to dry.

No. And on a side note, I don't get **** anymore from my sources. The changing of the guard at Dove Valley has rendered me powerless. When the Cutler thing first broke I heard somethings that came 2nd hand, but I don't get nearly the info I had previously.
