Ken Lucas-DB-Panthers Mar. 11 - 3:57 pm et

Panthers released CB Ken Lucas.

Carolina began the day with $24,042 in cap space. The move saves $2.4M, so GM Marty Hurney can now sign his rookie class. Lucas was nearly traded two weeks ago, so clearly the 30-year-old is going to have a market. Perhaps if he was three years older the Broncos would be a potential suitor.

What happened to Xanders?

He only negotiates the contracts.

McDaniels is just Shanahan 2.0 in terms of player management power.

Mike Tomlin was hired when he was 34.

McDaniel will be 33 in about a month.

Cower was hired when he was 37.

How many coaches in their 40s and 50s wash out of the league and never have success?

So, the guy was hired 16 months or so earlier in age than the current SB head champion coach. I'm not sure what the big story is, here.

The joke is that most of the FA's that have been picked up to start are old aka 31+ a some point during next season.

its because hes hired so many old players, what some people like lex fail to realize in doing that, he has already fielded a more talented D then we had last year, with the entire draft still to come which i gaurantee he will use to fill the D even more.

What you write is true. What was posted was funny. I think this board needs to distinguish between the two and lighten up.

Good point, Tomlin and Cower were hired at about the same age but neither one came in and tore the Steeler's down to the foundation and started from scratch. That's a gutsy move or a huge mistake.

I see.

I misread it as a gag on the coaches age, but only skimmed it.

Gaffney is 28.

Fields is 27 or 28.

Buckhalter is 30.

Jordan is 30.

Not exactly geezers in that group. Dawkins is the only guy on the verge of being "too" old.

Shanahan also made a habit of using experienced vets for his early success in Denver. (Romo, Smith, Traylor, etc.)

I said turning 31 during THIS season.

Also you forgot...

Andra Davis is turning 31

Renaldo Hill is turning 31

Andre Goodman is turning 31

Resigned Kenny Peterson is turning 31

and...

LaMont Jordan is turning 31

Correll Buckhalter is turning 31

etc

I don't care how old someone is if they're good. Just pointing out that's why the joke was made about us signing Lucas if he was older.

since they haven't played a game yet how do you know? That is what you are hoping right now.
