Matt Stover is an old dude, but he can still consistently kick it from 45 yards in. I think Denver should bring him in, use Prater for the Kickoffs and the deep field goals since he kicks those better anyway.

Thoughts?

It's as good of a solution as any. Prater seems like a real wild card.

Thoughts? As a matter of fact I do. Prater as a kick off specialist is a joke. After the first few games lasy season he could not kick it into the endzone to save his life. If we sign Stover, cut Prater

Well Stover can't be the only guy then bc he kicks it shorter than Prater. I think Prater would do well to have an older guy teach him some tricks of the trade, and they could be a good combo.

It would be nice to see him in orange & blue

If only McDaniels managed to bring over Gostkowski with him. He seems to be bringing over everyone else.....or at least trying to.

I'd say we're fine at kicker. This was Prater's first full year as the PK, he should only get better. But then again, I thought we were fine at QB, too.

Stover is a really solid FG kicker, I wouldn't mind him and his super bowl ring when it comes time to a game winning kick.

Prater cannot be trusted. Plain and simple.

The little thing he does where he points his hand before he kicks bugs me.

I mean, I hate to be picky, but come on!

Prater had my confidence early only for it to be shattered in game after game at the end of the season. Missing 2 PATS back to back (flag on one play) put me over the top.

Agreed! Anything under 40 yards is living on the edge.

I'd do it, not sure how McDaniels about keeping 2 kickers on the roster - although the NE way is to go for it on 4th versus kicking a long field goal.

Just throwing this out there for all of you since many people seem to forget how bad young kickers are when they begin starting in the NFL.

These are the starting seasons of some "good" kickers out there including ours.

Vinatieri's 1st season - 77.1%

Gostkowski's 1st season - 76.9%

Elam's 1st season - 74.3%

http://www.nfl.com/players/jasonelam/profile?id=ELA548409

Prater's 1st season - 73.5%

http://www.nfl.com/players/mattprater/profile?id=PRA143616

Stover's 1st season - 72.7%

... point is, that most kickers aren't very good in their first season. I should also point out that Stover's 1st 3 seasons were all at the 72% area.

I'm cool with sticking with Prater. Last year was his first full season of kicking and experienced some serious leg fatigue by the end of the year. Look for him to adjust his practice schedule to improve upon this.

Not that this is any comparison, but I kicked in high school and learned the hard way that overdoing it in practice, kills your leg. At the beginning of the season, I could hit from 40-45, by the end, maybe I could get 35.

Point being, he's got a strong leg and i'll stick with him.

This reminds of the Neil Rackers shoulder rolls he does before he kicks. It looks ridiculous and probably does nothing productive.

Man, this reads like my latest performance review.

I was looking at their stats last night when I found out he was released and he was just as shaky as Prater was from 40-49. They both are pretty much money inside that.

I would rather have Prater than him and I'm not a big fan of Prater at all.

Man, this reads like my latest performance review.

It's like synchronized diving in the Olympics.

"The diver on the left extends her little toe.....right.....there! Oh no! Oh, that's too bad. That's going to be a full half-point deduction. This is going to open the door for the Chinese."
