LT is just past his prime. When elite HBs pass it, it happens super fast. See Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes, and now LT ( The 3 headed monster of the early 00's ). From 1st overall fantasy pick to a 14th round handcuff in 2 seasons. The Chargers should have kept Turner and now are way overvaluing Sproles solely in the interest of not looking stupid.

LT is the new Eddie George.

Wherever he plays I think LT will have a very good year in 2009. During his brief spells when he wasn't injured he played pretty damn good over the last two years.

Classic comeback year is in the offing I think. He is in such great shape that 2 or 3 more productive years are not out of the question.

For the record I think LT would rip it up in the Donks cut blocking scheme that favors a pure cutback runner like LT.

terrible title, but i like the idea of LT sharing the load with Hillis...

at this stage in LT's career he should split time with another back...

No.

1) LT as you knew him is done

2) LT as you knew him was a choker and a playoff bust.

3) The shell of his former self playoff choker will cost too much to be worth the trouble.

No thanks.

I bet they work it out to where he can stay in SD.

Good one two punch, they can rest him durning the regular season at certain points, keep him fresh for the post season, dont think he is going any where.

This would depend heavily on the money. If LT wants to play for alot less than what he's making now, sure, bring him in. Otherwise, draft a RB. Or do both, if the price is right.

This thread is pointless. Tomlinson wants to get paid AND play for a contender. No LT to Denver.

so let's list contenders.

Steelers- No way they want LT- They wouldn't pay f
Titans- No way they want LT Chris Brown
Ravens- Very seriously doubt they would add LT to the committee they have
Colts- Addai Nope
Jags- Jones Drew Nope
Dolphins- Ronnie Brown nope
Patriots- Could be a possibility. First one that seems possible out of the contenders.
Cardinals- I guess maybe
Redskins- nope they have portis
Eagles- They wouldn't do it IMO
Giants- Don't see it they have Jacobs
Cowboys- Not with Barber and Jones there
Falcons- nope
Panthers- nope
Vikings- nope

I'm not sure LT would get a golden ticket to a team ready to go to a Superbowl. Maybe but it won't be easy to get to a contender and get paid a bunch of money.

You're right, New England is the most logical landing spot for him with their history of getting mileage out of older players and being postseason contenders. The money factor is more of a pride thing. He's already collected five years off of what was the biggest runningback contract ever awarded, plus he had Campbell's, Nike, Gatorade, Vizeo, Oggies, etc. The Patriots would give him a joke contract that made him look like a big winner while not actually paying excessively or taking an excessive cap hit. $30 million over 4 years with a $7 million signing bonus and base salaries of $2 million in the first two years, or something like that. They end up paying him $11 million for two years and then take a modest $3.5 million cap proration when they cut him.

San Diego is still the best place for him, though. Community, locker room, mansion, etc, all that. The question is just if he is willing to renegotiate. Some older players are willing, and some can't stomach it. He's counting $8.something million against the 2009 salary cap at a time when the team is looking to it's future with Rivers, Gates, Merriman, Jackson, and others who are younger and on the up. He has to renegotiate to stay. The Chargers showed him the respect of making him the highest paid runningback in the league when he was the best runningback in the league. Maybe the respect will come full circle.

Nice dig, but not really true. The Chargers have been top 4 in the AFC, top 2 in the AFC, and top 4 again in the last three postseasons. They are a team in contention, even if they haven't broken through yet.

8-8 equals top 4? Nice try, your teams sucks and is only getting older and worse. Here's to SD signing LT and Merriman to monster contracts and being in cap hell for the next decade.

LT wants to restructure his contract to defer payments and in the process convert non-guaranteed money to guaranteed money. Hence, putting the Chargers in salary cap hell once he gets injured/keeps putting up 3.5 ypc.

Try to keep up.

You should make a shirt that says CHARGERS TOP 4 in 3 postseasons!!!!!!!

Since that pesky Superbowl Champion seems to be like a chicken bone for the Chargers it may be the best you ever do with this group.

If Chargers can get the secondary squared away, get merriman back, block better upfront on the oline, IMO they can still make a run. Rivers throws ball well so I think they can score some points. If defense and ST play better they could be contenders in AFC.

I will say though I still think they will choke it and underachieve. Mainly because I think Norv Turner is a total joke of a head coach. Just the look on his face most of the time says DUH!!!!!!!!!!

IMO Norv will fail again next yr and then be fired.
