good stuff so far. I wonder if Knox will simply be a Kircus 2.0 type tho. Break all sorts of records in college and then do nothing in the NFL?

or is the situation different?

I dont really see Pegues going to Denver with his character issues. Denver has been emphasizing character more recently. I think there was an article about how this was important when drafting last year.

Very good question, having seen both practice (Knox in el paso, and Kircus at training camp) I give the edge to Knox.

Kircus had an awesome vert, and put up great numbers at Grand Valley State, but I always questioned his ability to translate the big plays from the practice field to the game. He was very inconsistent in practice as well, making amazing/leaping catches, and then dropping 4 easy ones in a row.

Knox has better hands and speed to go along with the same type of athleticism. I also give the edge to Knox in the route running department, especially when beating the jam.

Oh yeah.

Send this tape over to Mike Nolan.

Clinton McDonald - DT - Memphis

This dude would make an awesome 3-4 DE. Obviously he doesn't play against the SEC, but he has the same ability to penetrate as a Tyson Jackson. I like that kid a lot. 55 tackles and 4 sacks in 13 games is good enough for me. Sign him boys!

I'm intrigued by Meredith after watching your videos a couple of times. Do you think he's better outside or inside? And which side?

He is best served as a RT in my opinion. He's a smart kid, but has too many mental lapses during a game to hold off the best rushers on the left side. Someone could do what Carolina did with Jeff Otah, make him your road grader and watch the run game improve.

The downside is mostly mental. Can he play through pain? Is he motivated for the right reasons, and can he play with passion?

Thanks for checking out the show!

I think that makes it hard on you guys and the rest of the media, but for goodness sakes I understand why. Its the same with other teams too isn't it? I have heard the Colts guys are really quiet since they do not subscribe to Blesto or national and still do it all themselves.....

What round do you see Jarret Dillard going in? And do you think Sebastian Vollmer is strictly a zone blocking tackle?

Dillard is projected somewhere between the 4th and 5th round. I wouldn't be shocked if a team fell in love with him enough to make him a late 3rd rounder.

Sebastian Vollmer could develop into a solid zone blocking tackle. If he were to be drafted to a more traditional system it would take some more time to develop because he rarely played with his hand in the dirt at Houston, and he's at his best when he's on the move. Either way, we're looking at a RT project with upside.

Hey Cecil, have you heard the new Offseason proposed schedule? I am going to post it is a minute But I would like your thoughts on moving the Draft before VET FA and putting the Scouting Games IN TB on back to back weekends.

I don't like moving the draft up. The NFL is relevant on the national stage for 10 out of 12 months. The build up to the draft, with the pro days, all star games, combine, really create natural drama.

I call this the draft season, where teams combat each other with their front offices. Shortening the evaluation process would only mean more mistakes for teams and make free agency much more important than the draft IMO. Right now I believe they are fairly equal, with the draft having a slight advantage.

The Shrine Game has reportedly been losing money for years. The NFL needs to step in because we've already lost the Hula Bowl. It made Texas v The Nation even that harder to get into for prospects. El Paso loves TvTN, and the city welcomes the NFL (street banners, signs at the airport, etc). That game is also financially successful, which is only a testament to the great people that put it together like John Murphy & Kenny Hansmire.

I go from Houston, to Mobile, to El Paso each year, so going to Tampa, Tampa, El Paso would be all good with me!

Nice profile of Sammie Stroughter. I've enjoyed a lot of the episodes this season.

He could play DE, but I have doubts as to how he could make the transition. He is most disruptive when slanting, and attacking gaps.

Possible 3-4 DE's?

Connor Barwin - Mike Vrabel v2.0
Paul Kruger - motor, smarts, versatile
Tyson Jackson - big, athletic, long arms

Stroughter is currently seen as a 5th round pick. he could drop to the 6th round, but in my eyes he most certainly will be drafted.

Cecil those are some interesting pictures but they are not tape. You ought to roll his tape in coverage from the senior bowl, it is not pretty. Yes, he can rush the QB. Yes, he can sniff the screen.

However, that is NOT what a nickle LB does in the NFL very often, so I think its very misleading to say that makes him an everydown LB @ the next level. We are talking 3-4 schemes that would be applicable to in the nickle. Rey is a fantastic old school Mike, but his coverage skills were really exposed in Mobile against mediocre competition in the skill positions. There is nothing in that clip that comes close to exonerating him in actual coverage or against PA and misdirection. Those are his weak points in playing the pass at the next level.
