i dont care so much about the brand name, i like a lot of DC/zoo york **** because the design is tight. affliction is awesome too. im not so worried about the brand name, but some brands do make better looking clothes then others. this blac label clothes is good looking stuff, same with affliction, i think some of you should redefine your definition of style, its not going on queer eye for a straight guy its wearing tight looking clothes that you look good in. this stuff is very good.

Whatever you do don't be one of the jackass tools that have to wear the busy t shirts such as affliction/tap out. That busy design that is the cool thing to wear is plain funny. Guys are paying 50 bucks for a TSHIRT to say look at me I'm the coolest dude around. Lets be honest hear, it doesn't matter what you wear if your a decent looking dude and have a little confidence. Don't follow the trends though like the rest of the sheep.

Not sure if its generational. When people are younger, end up wearing tighter fitting clothing, simply because. The 1990's were unusual because everyone went baggy. Its about showing off what you have. I learned that by watching what not to wear...

You just have to go when there are sales an what not. I have gotten jeans that are awesome and cost $120.00 for $20.00. So what if they were from 2007. They are jeans. If you like Polo, Calvin Klein and a few other brands don't be afraid to check out Ross or Marshalls. You just have to look hard, but you can find a lot of great slacks, dress shirts and Nike Dryfit golf shirts for a fraction of the original price. Khols isn't bad either. Urban Up is a decent brand there, their t-shirts have a great fit to them.

Hahahaha, now I have seen everything. A thread at the mane about what clothes to buy, for god sake, what have we become.

Dude, screw all the fancy cloths. If you have a rock hard bod, women won't care what you wear. Go get some camo cargo shorts and a T-**** and throw it on. Get some cool Oakley shades and some old stupid cap. Oh yeah, and some sneakers that are at LEAST 2 years old and if they have a hole in them, even better.

I probably spend $100.00 on clothes a year. I just wear old **** until it falls apart. I even wear them dirty for a few days if I feel like it..........hahahaha.

And NO jewelry unless it's a wedding ring.

if you look at the labels we are talking about, its not ridiculous priced name brand stuff, atleast not all of us. i would never, ever spend 200 dollars on jeans, but i will spend 70-80. i wont spend 70-80 on a shirt, but i will spend 50-60. these are modest price ranges when looking at quality shirts clothes...

Blue Jeans- Silver Tabs and Levis 569s
Under Shirts- Stafford T's (yes they are bit more expensive for plain white T-Shirts at around $20 for a three pack, but I have some that still do not have holes in them from 10+ years ago!)
Dress Shirts- Nautica is quite reasonable now, Stafford makes nice shirts and you can find some decently priced Reaction (Kenneth Cole) shirts if you look.
Casual shirts, jackets, hats, etc. (Denver Broncos team store!!!)

I personally love the 40 year olds wearing all this trendy name brand stuff and strutting around the mall. Dude, you're 45 and have three kids...go home.

I wear Levi's myself and find them to be an excellent value for the money. T-shirts are a dime a dozen so there is no need to buy anything even close to $50 or more. Get some decent dress pants and shirts so you can look good for church and nicer get-togethers.

I have some pretty good quality stuff and I haven't spent more than $50 on anything (including shoes) in the last fear years except for my suit and coat.

Next time you see a sale there on Lucky jeans let me know!!! I bought a pair of Lucky Brand shorts while I was in the Air Force. I wore those to no end. About three years ago my wife thought it would be funny to tug on a small hole that had started near one of the ass pockets. That funny little tug turned into a 12" rip. I'd get her back every once in awhile by wearing those out with long-johns underneath. She finally through them out (Against my will!) to stop my fun and games. But seriously, next time you see a sale... LET ME KNOW! I'd never buy a pair at full price, but at the $20-40 range that I pay for Levi's or Silver Tabs... sure!

Exactly. Yeah you can buy the cheapest **** around from Walmart (hunting gear/fly fishing gear). I tried the hunter orange sweatshirts from Walmart. Three days in the woods the zipper broke. Then what? Your ****ed. Bought another one the following year. Same crap.

Money's far from an issue but I completely agree with what you've said.

Getting some comfortable and good looking levi's, and then some shirts with no brand names, and maybe a stripe here or there is what I prefer. You make the clothes look good, if you're ugly, they won't help you much.

Assliction and Ed Fardy's time has past....If you are trying to look trendy and "cool" I would stay away from stuff they sell at Costco.

I know you cant go to a bar or a club and swing a dead cat and not hit someone in Fardy or Assliction, doesnt mean its cool or trendy.

Or you pony up a little more dough on your outdoor gear and you use it year after year.

Almost all my fishing rods have a lifetime warranty.

You might spend $150 to $500 on a rod....but if anything at all happens to one, send it back to manufacturer and they will fix it, or replace it for no charge.

I busted one of my St. Croix rods while closing the back of my 4Runner a few years back....I sent it back to them and they replaced it, with no hassles, or questions about how it was broken.

Just gotta look for the deals. if you do that you can get some great clothing for small prices. Especially these days now that people aren't spending - not that I advocate being frivolous but if you have a secure income stream then its not unreasonable to splurge a bit.

Bought an Armani suit for $600 - 75% off the original price. Of course that's for special occasions.

I really like Tailorbyrd shirts - slim fitted dress shirts with great patterns. They normally run $100 each but on sale for $30.

As for slacks picked up a nice pair of Hugo Boss grey pants for $35.

That said I think the real key is to find the brands that fit you well. I'm more of the somewhat skinny type but with reasonably broad shoulders so I look for shirts that are very tapered - I don't have the lats to pull off wearing shirts that aren't.

As for jeans I agree with anyone who says buy the jeans that fit well and are comfortable. Really expensive jeans just don't look all that much bettter IMO then middle of the road pairs. Personally though I like Paper Denim quite a bit - have 2 pairs and both look good and are exceptionally comfortable.

first impressions are near impossible to change, and if i want to dress nicely if for nothing else because i like to, its what im going to do. heres the funny thing about clothes: you get clothes that expresses who you are. nice isnt it? which is why im asking for brands so i can look and find something that fits me, not a bunch of old married guys telling me to go to walmart.

First of all you are full of sh&t if you think how you dress says anything about your income. You are probably one of the affliction TSHIRT wearing 25,000 dollar millionaire that hangs out at the trendy night club. If you honestly think how you dress makes the difference on pulling a girl or not you are mislead and buying into the trendy crap. Those busy affliction shirts are just tshirts with a stupid design that are just like the tight ribbed T's that were around a couple years ago and will fade out real quick. Pulling chicks is all about being somewhat decent looking and being confident with an edge. Go walk around the malls and department stores. I buy all sorts of different brands and types of clothes. Try it on at the store or buy it and take it back after you try it on at home. Don't think that anyone is a superloyal person to one brand. Try and not wearing something that everyone else is wearing. I just because I know affliction is wore out doesn't mean I'm a redneck tellig you to go to kmart clothes shopping.

Ha Ha. Look what I found when I typed affliction into google.

1. Affliction shirts 54 up, 40 down
T-shirt worn by spiked hair having, club hopping douchebags. Fruitcakes who think they're god's gift to women wear these overpriced rags. Average IQ of a wearer is close to 55 on the standard 200-point scale. Note to club-going women: Watch out for these disease-ridden a-holes if you want to remain free from HPV.

And another great type up on these shirts. This one is spot on with pics and discriptions.

you mentioned DC and Zoo York as brands you like. find the nearest surf shop or skate shop for similar stuff. if you don't live around one, go to a pacsun. if you don't have a pacsun, look at nordstrom rack or macy's.

if you happen to live around new york city, go to soho. lafayette/spring street has tons of shops with unique artwork tees.

Its all about status. I see plenty of teens wearing $300 pairs of Rock Republic when they don't even have $100 in their bank account. When you are wearing clothes like this, its shows you have money or the ability to make money.

Myself i wear sevens because they fit and look the best on me. I also wear A&F polos because they also fit me best. I have several pairs of true religion and diesels, but hardley ever wear them, they don't fit as nice.

I'm married, and I dated my fair amount and I can say with certainty my brand of clothing was never a factor. I would not want to date a woman who considered me "undateable" based on my clothing brand. My wife buys brand name, but I don't buy it myself. I get nice brands from places like Ross, and you can get some awesome stuff at wal-mart. My Dad bought an Armani suit for 15 bucks at Goodwill.

Bottom line: If the brand of clothing you wear is important to a woman, you don't want to date her anyway. It means she's superficial.

I'm not advocating looking like a slob, just not paying out the nose to look nice. Wouldn't a woman rather be with a man that knows how to get a good deal and look nice doing it? Doesn't that say more about him than his clothes?

Kaylore

If your looking for jeans go with Lucky brand, nothing better.

I got two pair that fit awesome at Ross for 20 bucks each. THAT is a deal.

I buy both name brand and stuff at Target/Walmart. I look more at fit than price. I've had 'cheap' stuff fit just as well or better than a lot of name brands.

If I like it and it fits...that's what I buy.

You can never go wrong with Tuffskins. Also, check out the clearance rake at Old Navy. Mossimo at Target. BUT, if you want to look like the cool **** that no one will ever be able to compare, buy a Tap Out shirt. Those are as original now as barbwire tattoo.

Another genius statement by TSI. Yeah women will think your rich if you buying 50-60 dollar T shirts that you can buy for 10 bucks at ROSS. TSI is a womanizing machine. Keep your daughters away from him.

How pissed of are you at TSIguy that you reply to him 17 months later? I am glad I am married and not have to spend $300 to pull chicks in. Best thing is to wear jeans that are 75% cheaper than the going "cool" brand and then wear a shirt over the tagline so no one knows you bought your geans at Walmart. The only time they will know is when you take the shirt off to flex the muscles before getting in a fight with the guy that wore the same affliction shirt as you or if you are lucky, the girl picking up your clothes from the ground the next morning.

They now have decided to get into this business because they can make a shirt for $3-5 and sell them for $25-30. Much bigger than their underwear business where they dominate.

The name brands and the shirts at Wall Mart likely the same shirt so if you like the design at wall mart buy it and same money. If you like the designers graphics better buy it. It helps me either way

I don't buy any big name brands are designer clothes. I keep it simple, and women have told me that I dress well. I usually wear dress pants, a basic dress shirt, and my black chucks with black laces. It's that simple. I wear clothes that fit me. I'll spend a little bit of money on a suit. Not the really expensive ones, but Men's Wearhouse has some really good deals. $300 to $400 will get you some nice suits, and I wear the slacks with casual clothes a lot. Well, take off the coat and put on the chucks and it's casual.

I own one pair of jeans and I rarely wear them. Mostly dress pants, either from my suits or dress pants that I get at Target. Yeah, Target is the spot. Dress pants for like $20. Really thinking about it, other than suits, I don't really wear anything that costs more than $30. Some guys will spend like $300+ on an outfit when they could have got that same outfit for under $100.

I don't like busy designs. Actually, I don't really have much of anything that even has a design on it. I have like 10 white dress shirts, some long sleeve and some short sleeve, and a few black ones, and a few simple tee shirts. That's about it right there. Keep it simple and clean. I'm a slim guy in good shape, so I usually wear clothes that fits me. No baggy clothes. But nothing tight, especially paints, that's kind of gay.

You can dress well with quality if you comb the clearance racks and use coupons.

Not sure if you guys have Carson P. Scott out west but ours has 60% off racks with name brand quality clothes. They are a season or 2 old but I got some nice Nautica and Calvin Kline(sp?) summer kaki pants for $6 each after discounts, they started at $50 originally and they are great on cool days like today.

I can get nice shirts originally $50-60 bucks for $9-$15 bucks. The thing is you have to look around and wait for the stuff to turn over. If you go in needing something specific that is not on sale or clearance then you are screwed.

We have Lord and Taylor out here also. They are Higher end, not quite Neiman Marcus but very expensive. I was looking for a nice work shirt and found out they had a clearance rack also. I got some real nice Polo, Alex Canon, Abboud shirts that were $100-120 each for $15-$25 bucks.

It is all about knowing when the sales are (end of seasons) and checking in often enough to see what is new on clearance before it gets bought up.

If you're looking for labels like Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, et al, here's what you do:

Go to the nearest department store that carries the items you're looking for and try some stuff on to determine your sizes.

Then go home, jump on the computer, go to eBay, and search for those items.

Right now it's a buyer's market, and you will find some smokin' deals online (not to mention a much better selection.)
