View Full Version : What one available free agent do you most want the Broncos to bring in?

Obviously excluding the franchise players.

Albert Haynesworth was purposely left off this list as he is not a NT and the Broncos would not have realistic interest in another UT who will become the highest paid defensive player in football while they try to convert to a 3-4.

Ron Fields (NT) a young player from SF that would be excellent add to this team as we move to 3-4

Colin Cole (NT) from Green Bay run stuffer that Bates brought into Green Bay for his defense that can play 5 technique

I hope to see us sign two starting safeties, ones that won't break the bank. Sanders and Bell perhaps.

Then Mike Wright at DE, Grady Jackson on a 1 year deal at NT and Gabe Watson to compete with him.

All five players could significantly help our defense next year, and none will break the bank.

Is there a reason Lewis isn't on this poll?

I like Sean Jones. Who does Mike Wright play for? NE?

I like Bart Scott. It probably doesn't address our most pressing need but I think he'd bring a leadership factor to the LB corps that we haven't had in awhile. Williams is the quiet warrior type.

Is there a reason Lewis isn't on this poll?

Because I kept it to realistic FAs. We're not going to be interested in Lewis after re-upping DJ to play the WILB spot. Not to mention there'd be no way in hell Lewis would come here unless we heavily outbid the Jets and Cowboys.

Who does Mike Wright play for? NE?

Yes, he's a 3-4 DE that's well-though of amongst the NE fans I know.

Igor Olshansky would not only be good, but it would be hilarious as well.

It's pretty obvious that we can draft LB's to fill our needs, so the next priority is a big fat mofo NT. So, that's first.

Next is Safety.

Next is CB.

The Broncos need five or six defensive starters and they need help at every layer of their defense. The list could include nose tackle Grady Jackson and cornerback Ronald Bartell. The draft is also of major importance to Denver, so its scouting department will be keeping a keen eye on what's happening on the field in Indianapolis.

Canty has moved to the top of my list. I think he's the most dynamic DL left in FA, and we're desperate for experienced 3-4 DL. After Canty we need at least one guy with experience at NT. A couple have been mentioned, and I would be happy with any of them. Ron Fields is probably the best, and although not a world beater he'll give us a legitimate player at a position where we currently have no one.

The entire DL needs to be rebuilt, and we need to get at least a couple of guys that can come in and hit the ground running in the new scheme.

I also like the idea of Wright and Sanders. Two players who know the McDaniels/Pats system and can help implement the mentality as well as the system. Wright is a high motor guy who has played both DE and NT in New England. Sanders knows the system, is young, cheap, and an upgrade to anyone on the roster at S right now.

Wilson and Sanders would make for a significantly better Safety tandem than we've seen in awhile.

Here's my stupid idea.

Sign Boldin and trade Marshall for a first and a third. We take a small dip in our receiving core, but can use the two firsts to get a top tier RB and DL/LB.

The extra third is gravy.

I told you it was stupid :)

I dont know if Marshall commands a 1st and a 3rd. The 1st for sure, but the
3rd i am not so sure about. But DEN does need to get back into the 1st or
2nd somehow, BAD!

Watson is a restricted free agent for Arizona. If they only put a fourth round tender on him, I would definitely want him at Nose tackle.

Without an experienced nose a 3-4 defense is worthless.
